David Picks His Way Into Record Books

December 1st, 2013

Joe could write a love poem for Lavonte David nearly every week. The guy is just that good. Even Derrick Brooks has said David is ahead of where Brooks was early in his Hall of Fame career.

Now David has landed in team record books. The Bucs announced that David’s interception today against Carolina made him the first Buccaneer to record three picks and five sacks in one season. Pretty damn good for Game 12 of the regular season.

Again, what more can be said about David? He looks like a Hall of Famer — at 23 years old.

LVD was a steal in the draft at round 3. Great to see it was a one-time mistake with that penalty from the Jets game. Now all the Bucs need is a good LOLB. With Mason in the middle and LVD to the right and another good man to the left the Bucs have one of the best LB corps in the league. Quincy Black was playing great ball last season until his tragic injury, since then the Bucs have been trying to find the answer in Dekoda Watson and Adam Haynesworth. Watson is a great special teams asset, but has yet to prove himself as a starting LB.
