Davin Joseph Doesn’t Like The “F” Word

November 25th, 2013

The Bucs’ captain explains what won’t cross his lips when it comes to No. 8

It’s safe to say Davin Joseph won’t be lobbying the Bucs’ hierarchy to draft Johnny Football.

Joseph already has run his own scouting report on Mike Glennon, many weeks ago in fact. Joseph is all positive but he doesn’t like to bring the “F” word into the picture like many others do.

That “F” is for franchise quarterback.

“I’m a Mike Glennon fan. I think that he can be great. I’ve said it since the first time I saw him take a snap. I told everybody that we had something special. I don’t like to say ‘franchise, blah, blah, blah,’ but he’s a stud. He’s been a stud since he’s been starting,” Joseph told BSPN last night after the Bucs clubbed the Lions.

It’s no surprise that captain Joseph is behind the signal caller. Ten touchdowns and one interception over six games should be enough to sell any team-first offensive lineman.

Joe’s more curious why Joseph thought Glennon was a “stud” from snap 1. Was there really that much of an eye-opening contrast between Glennon and Josh Freeman?

The fact Freeman was no better than Glennon to begin with should of been eye opening in itself.

  2. Satchel Page Says:

I wonder if we will ever find out who made or forced the decision to start the year with Freeman as the starter.

  3. Paul Says:

not a fan of the link thing..Also, you could see that Glennon was going through his progressions from day 1.

Freebow would just hold the ball and dance around until something broke down all while staring down his recievers.

  4. biff barker Says:

Satchel, I think the consensus was it was the Glazers wanted Freeman to get one last shot. Dom too. The hope was he would wake up and earn a new contract.
Regardless, nobody knew back then how bad Freeman would be or how good Glennon could be.
I enjoy watching Glennon almost as much as I enjoy not having to watch Freeman.
    Go Buckos!

  5. stevek Says:

    Satchel,

Betcha it wasn’t Schiano that thought Freeman could get it done.

Better question, why didn’t we trade Freeman for something, anything, during the offseason? He is about as valuable as Ryan Leaf now… Sad we let him sink our ship for the third year in a row.

My bet is on the Glazers and Dom, they were not ready to close the door on Freeman, and I can’t blame them. 2010 was a good year, almost as good as Glennon is having….

Amen to that! Watching Freeman play was torture, punishment and sadness all rolled int one.

I’d be ok with him not being our QB, but his EXCUSES, lack of audibling, “misscommunications”, leaky, sleepy and boohoo attitude are all gone.

Sad to see that Freewee had the opportunity to ruin our THIRD YEAR IN A ROW.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Glennon needs to be behind center week one in 2014 with real weapons to start the season. He probably could use a little more time in the weight room too.

“The fact Freeman was no better than Glennon to begin with should of been eye opening in itself.”

But Couch, Joe told us that Freeman gave the Bucs the best chance to win during training camp. He was there, remember. Glennon was all over the map during training camp and Freeman was lighting it up.

    1987:

You are coming very close to calling Joe a liar. Might want to tread lightly. That’s the easiest way for Joe to click the Goodbye Button.

  11. Curmudgeon Says:

I think it’s not unreasonable to think Glennon is the guy. In terms of his skills and stature, doesn’t he compare favorably with Flacco? And Flacco has won a SB… Say no to drafting a QB in round one. That would be just another distraction to start a season, just like the Freeman debacle was this year. Glennon is our QB.

  12. Big Rob Says:

    @Buc1987

I’d call you crazy at the beginning of the year if you thought a rookie would give us the best chance to win over a veteran in his contract year. I’d bet on the vet everytime and win most times.

  13. mark2001 Says:

Stevek…I’d almost bet the farm that after 2013, Glennon won’t go on the showboating circuit in the offseason. I would expect him to work harder than ever to get better and hold down the job. If we could get a third rounder back though, I wouldn’t mind seeing us pick up another young one, just to keep the fire under him and develop another one…just in case. The Packers did that for years during the Favre years, and if nothing else, it can provide a trade asset.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Joe all I’m saying is my eyes weren’t there at TC. I can only go by what you were saying, but no one on this end is calling you a liar. Perhaps Freeman was faking it during the games, but looked sharp in training camp. Man a little more insight into how the hell Freeman fell apart from training camp to the regular season would be better than threats Joe.

Of course Big Rob I was all in for Freeman to start the season too, but perhaps the coach and the players were not.

  15. Chef Paul Says:

    1987,

Don’t forget how wrong you were about Freeman in this summer too.

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

    From August 6th:

“That’s my effing man. I’m telling you fans. You have all the right to doubt, but Freeman is going to play lights out. Many Buc fans are going to be like wtf where did this guy come from? That’s why I’m so adamant about Freeman this year, because I know it”

  16. Joe Says:

Freeman’s antics (which are well-documented) is your answer.

As Joe has written many times, Schiano didn’t wreck Freeman. Freeman wrecked Freeman.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Chef Paul…that’s correct I was fooled too. Many of us were. I’m just saying I did not see how he was in training camp practice. All I saw was his in-game performance. Obviously it was night and day if we go by what Joe saw in training camp. Same goes for Glennon as well. Night and day from training camp to in-game if we go by what Joe saw during training camp.

So then it’s settled. Glennon and Freeman both fooled Joe during training camp. Is that how it is Joe? Is this the same Mike Glennon you saw in training camp?

    Joe,

    come on man.

Your views on glennon are changing just as fast as his stock is rising.

both you and duemig were bashing him from the start….

guess what….thats ok….you have to take a bite of the sh!t sandwhich and say you were wrong.

what you and duemig cant do is try and rewrite your history.

  19. TAC Says:

Buc 1987, we all saw what joebucs fan wrote about Freemans “accuracy” in training camp. He also wrote about a dropoff in his camp toward the end.

I’m not going to go back to all of your posts, but dude, you were hanging off the balls of JF, and swinging gleefully. Telling all who read your posts, that anyone who questioned his halo, robe, and sandals that they were not buc fans.

I never really saw much wrong with what you posted, you were just a passionate bucs fan full of hope.

Not Joes fault you “didn’t know”. Good grief.

Something got weird at or around the Pats practice week, and it was written about here if not mistaken, but they did mention his drop off at the end of camp.

Please define “bash?” Apparently you don’t know what that word means.

Joe was and has given honest, reasoned observations about Glennon. If that is “bashing,” then you should stick to buccaneers.com where they supply the warm blanky for your to insulate yourself with each night before you go to bed.

If Glennon shows a consistent ability to stretch the defense like he did yesterday, then there’s no question he’s a good quarterback.

If pointing that out is somehow “bashing,” then you must be a 13-year old girl.

Only a fool who calls what Joe has written about Glennon “bashing” or “hate” and is a simpleton with no concept of vocabulary.

why bash 13 year old girls, huh?. 😉

  22. Jim Says:

bunch of dumazz’s being exposed in this thread. lol

  23. Pete Says:

I really like this kid Glennon. When I went to training camp he just seemed to have that “it” factor, plus I loved his height and delivery. The Kaepernicks and RGIII’s are exciting, but give me a smart QB like Glennon any day of the week over those guys. I can’t wait until he takes the snaps with the 1’s for all of next years training camp.

it is amazing how jf fell apart so rapidly from last yr to now, not that he was that good anyway, duemig and the media went crazy over this, schianos a belicheat clone , he doesnt give a rats a about them
