So Bucs Are Undisciplined In Second Half?

November 3rd, 2013

Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the predictable, inexcusable loss to the Seahawks, when the Bucs pulled a Heimlich maneuver in the second half — a trademark in the Greg Schiano Era — and lost, Mike James indirectly pointed a finger at the root cause of the Bucs loss.

The Bucs did not play disciplined football in the second half.

The Bucs jumped out to a 21-point lead and then went Connie Chung impotent in the second half scoring but three points — THREE!

“We all knew we had to be disciplined,” James said of the Bucs’ torrid start in the first half.

So that suggests the Bucs got sloppy in the second half? Wouldn’t that be the logical conclusion?

It frosts Joe how Bucs commander Greg Schiano — who Joe likes a lot as a person — can be such a preacher of discipline, yet his team plays so undisciplined?

It will be Schiano’s epithet on his headstone as Bucs coach.

    Awesome graphic!

Outstanding Picture Joe! Damn, what a first half followed by such a predictable second half. Schiano just does not get the intensity and the fact that no lead is safe in NFL. Tandy gets roasted the entire game and no we are stuck with him another week since his pick. I have not joined the Glennon mob yet but I like the kid…

  3. Richmondtxbucsfan Says:

Hey Joe you know you can tell the bucs went into cruise control about 1:30 left in the game. Moose pointed that out. You were right in your previous post, schiano can’t close out close games, or any games for that matter.
The winds of change are a’ blowin…

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Glennon & James (rookies) played well enough for us to win what some described as “unwinable” in the toughest place to play in the NFL.
After all, what else do we have but to celebrate and salute good rookie play…..

  5. Mr Lucky Says:

Please report that Schiano is being left in Seattle when the Bucs fly home!

I’ve been a schiano supporter through all this mess of a season. But that fourth quarter pushed me over to the paper bag-head side. Just gutless and stubborn decision making from our coaching staff.

we have a solid team… Some holes in secondary still and tremendous need for wr3 and Te… But I’m officially convinced this coaching staff cannot adapt and cannot win. I know, I know…you’ve all been saying it for months now. Just thought I’d proclaim my change of mind.

    GO BUCS…. Fire Schiano.

  7. Richmondtxbucsfan Says:

Man we could have the same situation as the Texans in the back field. Two starting caliber running backs!

  8. Buc1987 Says:

TBBF…yep and many fans in here including me were expecting Seattle to give the Bucs a beatdown. That includes Vegas 16 point underdogs. A loss is a loss either way and it sucks. I’m marching on though. I’m just going to look forward to a brighter future for the Bucs. This team is really NOT that far away from being a pretty damn good team.

Bring us a decent coach you crumpet eating, hot tea drinking limeys!

you can see schiano interrupt and talk to glennon and it translate to glennon losing his spit all of the sudden at the end of the game…schiano is punk….always will be

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No such thing as a moral victory in the NFL….but even in the loss…it can build some confidence in Glennon & James…..our defensive line absolutely sucks….no sacks again!

I think we badly missed a healty MW19 in this game…VJ wasn’t open the entire game and Glennon had no open recievers the entire second half. He showed about as much composure as was possible under the circumstances.
If you watch the tape, however….on our last drive in the 4th qtr…on a Glennon run on 3rd down…he cut to the outside and was stopped. I think if he stays straight or to the right…he gets the extra 3 yards for a 1st to extend the drive. He’s more mobile than expected…but still not mobile enough sometimes.

Reading a lot of negative comments about the defense. Isn’t that Schiano’s specialty? Besides not making halftime adjustments and losing. Wasn’t that the reason he was hired, to fix the defense?

  14. k1ngadroc Says:

I would like to thank the Buccaneer Players for busting their a$$ out there and giving it all they had. We can walk with our heads up with a performance like that.
I would also like to thank the Buccaneer Coaches for proving they are outclassed, can’t make in game adjustments and need to go back to losing at the College level. Even Stevie Wonder can see that!

  15. buc4lyfe Says:

Schiano is a joke I refuse to call him a coach, him and his defensive coordinator have tampa bay thinking we dont have the players to be a playoff team…. the players didnt choke in the 2nd half the coaches did because once again a team goes into halftime make adjustments then come out and destroy the bucs…the worst part is i couldnt enjoy the first half lead we have because i knew it doesnt count for this coach. No one in the nfl game plans for 1 half of a game which means this idiot still hasnt learned that in the NFL they make half time adjustments. People are putting it on our players but SCHIANO, SHERIDAN AND SULLIVAN ALL HAVE LOSING RESUMES. i knew we would lose when that idiot tried to sit on a first half lead with almost 2 minutes left in the 1st half. how can glazers look at that game and not see what a joke the bucs have become AGAIN. it didnt start when schiano got here, it started when warren sapp left

on a more personal note joe schiano has proved a theory about how awful the sheridan/schiano combo is…..After watching this game it suddenly hit me that trevor scott all of a sudden isnt good enough to play on our dline. the guy came in against the patriots that got 3 sacks in one game

TREVOR SCOTT GOT THOSE SACKS BECAUSE WE DIDNT GAME PLAN, THEY SIMPLY RUSHED THE PASSER BASED ON INDIVIUAL SKILLS, daniel teonisham is not good enough to be starting why the hell does everyone in tampa bay know this except gregory schiano….damn how can he be allowed to ruin warren sapp’s induction into the ring of honor with all our buc alumni there….

Schiano sucks so bad as a coach that he’s undone everything RAHEEM MORRIS DID, he may have been a laid back coach but why is it he could do what schiano cant WITHOUT gerald mccoy who he lost to injury both years, without a running back, without a number 1 receiver, without starting caliber safeties, with talib as our best corner who had hamstring issues

I’ll watch monday nights game out of respect our franchise and our best living player and that’ll be the only game on tv but even though the glazers don’t seem to care its schiano or me, im done because its pathetic not to feel any emotion, not to feel any anger or be suprised at all that with that kind of lead and defense we still lost the game, whats the point of watching the game if you cant show emotion

    Ahhhh… We suck again.

  17. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Lol to the people calling Revis a bust. 2 completions for 8 yards and he is a bust? And oh yeah, one of those was in zone coverage. It’s really hard to get picks when they don’t even throw at him. He’s doing his job at not even close to full strength. He’s going to get there, and when he gets a real coach, he’s going to be great again.

  18. Eric Says:

Biggest comeback in Seahawks history. Nice.

I’m trying to recall, is this the first time since 1977 we have been 0-8? Pretty sure it is.

I’m thinking the 1-13 stretch is worst since then too.

Can we dig deep and add 8 more and make it 0-16 and 1-21?

    Yes, yes we can.

  19. buc4lyfe Says:

i really dont understand how so many people are blinded…tell the saints that coaching doesnt matter after getting their headcoach and a new defensive coordinator and having less talent then us, tell baltimore coaching doesnt matter when they fire their offensive coordinator towards the end of the season then go on to win the superbowl, why is it atlanta is only good enough to beat the bucs with none of their starting wide receivers playing, why is it revis holds seattle’s best receiver to 2 catches but we cant role coverage to the other players that were killing us, how is it we LOSE bennett and roy miller but gain adrian clayborn and akeem spence, we get better corners are nowhere near close to having the same run defense

two starting tackles out of the game for seattle and we cant seem to generate sacks or keep contain on a qb that the coach himself said was a good running quarterback, i hoped schiano didnt bring his family here to tampa…WHY DID THIS TEAM FALL APART WHEN PJ FLECK LEFT? NO ONE DROPPED BALLS FOR THAT WIDE RECEIVER COACH….HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE DAMN HEAD COACH

  20. buc4lyfe Says:

cant believe warren sapp is gonna have to pretend to like this coach on monday night, i hope he’s himself and says exactly what he thinks because thats why we love him…..mccoy is the leader of the defense but he’s a no show in the 4th quarter Not one player showed any kind of fire in the 2nd half, it was as if whatever schiano said they knew that they would lose the game

  21. coach80m Says:

I hope he’s gone by tomorrow. We need someone who knows what he is doing. Can Wannstedt do it?

  22. Bucfan#37 Says:

In my opinion Wannstedt is a players type coach. He has’nt had a highly winning past. He might be the interim head coach if the situation arises.

  23. Buc'dUp Says:

Great game!! They played well enough to win against a great team. Great game plan and it shows even though fans have given up the team hasn’t. Im amused at the fact you are blaming this on Schiano. Schiano got his team ready to play and they almost pulled off a Huge upset under the circumstances this was one hell of coaching today!give him some freaking credit Joe!!!!!!

  24. sho-nuff Says:

    wannstedt is a rock…no thanks

Please help Joe out. How can a team play “great” when they only score three points in the second half and choke away a win? And why should Joe — or anyone — give a team — an 0-8 team, mind you — credit for anything? This isn’t Little League football where the entire team gets ice cream after the game just because they wore a uniform and showed up to the game on time.

NFL games are played for 60 minutes, not 30. Schiano may have had the team ready for one half, but not prepared for the second half, sorry.

  26. Patrick Says:

Didn’t Wannstedt take the Dolphins to the playoffs twice?

Yeah, he’s so much worse than the current lunatic at HC.
