Did the defense take three straight snaps with 6 to 10 clicks left on the playclock each time in our last series in the Philly game. Wish somebody would actually look at tape for a change.

Just like the great Drew Brees overcame his putrid defense last year and led them to the playoffs right? Whatever………..the defense has to be better for the bucs to have a chance to make the playoffs. I have never heard of a #9 ranked offense being the problem for not making the playoffs.

You name two games when you can say the defense blew the first Saints game, the First Falcons game, the Eagles game, the 500 and something yard explosion the Giants put on them game, the Redskins game. The list goes on and on. We had the lead in a couple of those game only for our defense to falter at the end. I’m not Freeman doesn’t have his faults. But with a better defense we probably win at least three of those games. Then we are 10-6 and everybody loves Freeman

There were at least 4 of our losses that were on Freeman. See: the Saints and Cowboys games.

Maybe our defense would improve if Freeman didn’t 3 and out our offense so many times!

The gloom and doomers on here are killing me! How about we wait at least until after preseason to give up and start bitc@@g. Until then, give Schiano and Dominic a little time to do their jobs. At the end of last year we had a team decimated by injuries which was the main cause of the collapse. Just getting our starters back makes us a better team then we were at the end of last year. We still need to add some players on defense through a variety of methods (draft, trades, free agency, ..etc) but all is not lost because we did not win the first week of free agency!

The best example of a good quarterback not making the playoffs because of poor defense? >>>>Drew Brees. The difference? Drew has had a legitimate defense before and you know what the Saints did? (Bountygate aside). They won a super bowl. I’m not saying Freeman is at or close to Drews level but look at his stats when he had a good defense versus a bad one.

If we have a middle of the pack defense (between 12-18 overall) then I think we can accurately judge Freeman. If he has an average to above average defense and still performs badly then let’s look for a replacement. However, I do not think this will be the case.

I agree, when freeman tries too hard it reflects poorly. He relaxes with some defensive help, he does so much better. Just has to keep that swag of his.

Oh by the way the consensus best 2 corners (Grimes and Revis) that are “available” assuming their injuries do not impact them still may be on the BUCS come game 1. The rest of the lot were remarkably average by NFL standards. I mean Grimes was franchised last year and Revis had an Island named after him.
