What really puzzles me, is that Revis said he wants to go to Miami, when Tampa is courting him.
HTF does he expect Tampa to give him the big contract he wants, when he would rather be in Miami ?
Coach Schiano don’t play. If Revis is a head case like Kellen Winslow was, he need not come here. Him and our coach will clash.

Cat and mouse. Cat and mouse. Jets are yelling fire, but there’s no smoke. I call your bluff and I raise you nothing Idzik/Johnson. You’ve had ample time to sign Revis. Revis doesn’t want to play in NY and the Jets need much more than 1 CB. It’s still a perfect storm for Tampa. If it doesn’t happen this week then the Bucs need to move on. Don’t step up the offer whatsoever. The Jets will bungle this thing if we don’t sign hi this week. There are no other takers due to cap space or needs. The Jets are dancing with the Bucs and only the Bucs. Despite our need for secondary help, Dom holds the cards not the Jets.

The point is that the game changes after the draft, as it is changing from day to day as far as who is available….

Right now, if there is a Corner or two, a D Tackle, a DE, or maybe some more O line help that can improve our team, lets go for it and let the Jets hang.

With two or three CB’s in the draft, and a couple more Linemen in addition to the above action, we might feel that Revis is too expensive, and who knows; possibly his full recovery is not AP abnormal and requires a year or more.

Overall, Johnson, per multiple media accounts of his remarks, didn’t come close to shutting the door on a Revis trade. One example: Johnson, per Corbett, said that if the Jets believed a trade “can make our team better, we would be open to a conversation[.]“

In short, the speculation about Revis’ future with the Jets is far from over.

Meanwhile the Buc’s sit by and watch free agency and any decent players slip by. Your last post said the Jets could wait till June ?….. How do you plan your draft. Cut this deal loose, salvage whatever you can from FA, and hope the draft covers your tail, Dom. If not we are looking at 3-7. Screw the Jets and Revis.

If it were me, and it’s a good thing that it’s not going to be, I would have this deal done with Revis by Wednesday, the end of the owner’s meeting. This decision cannot keep us in gridlock for 2 months affecting our decisions at CB unless we consider Revis to be a luxury on top of what we were planning to do anyway and I doubt that.

If we can’t make a deal happen this week, I’m going into Plan B mode. I would offer 1 year contracts to MLB Karlos Dansby and FS Kerry Rhodes – two guys (30) that have winning experience and can still play at the starter level.

I would send the plane to pick up Chris Gamble (30) and talk him out of retirement for a 2yr contract like Atlanta did Gonzales. I would hold my nose and re-sign the Eric Wright to a 1 year base contract of 3.5mil with incentives to make 5mil. If the Revis deal does eventually happen, there is not a cap hit this year more than 5mil and the appropriate cuts can be made before the new Revis contract goes into effect.

I would move on to the draft and concentrate on a DT or DE in the 1st round because there are enough solid CBs in the draft like Logan Ryan to significantly improve the position. If Dominik gets another pick through a trade which is likely, dominik will maneuver back and forth to get the players we want. Time to move on and get some proven help before the draft!

Agree with the sentiments here. I can’t see Revis is worth twice the salary of other available CBs PLUS draft picks. Get Grimes and use those picks elsewher – including another CB.

CC….yes, sad to say.

But maybe we should think about what that really means if we don’t do anything but draft to fill up some of those slots so desperately lacking.

Rebuilding part…..? How many more years will it take to really be battling it out with the big boys for the Lombardi? Glad I’m not in my 70′s or 80′s.
