I was really surprised to hear that Bennett spoke at all about his future. Agents usually have a better seal over players mouths during negotiation season.

Classic damage control by Rosenhaus. I tend to believe that panicking and telling media outlets that Bennett “misspoke” will only make the situation worse. Could have privately owned up to it in negotiations and used it to show Bennett’s desire to be loyal and potentially give a future hometown discount.
