There are some good OTs available in the draft this year, but there are also a bunch who we could choose from in free agency who would be instant upgrades at RT for us, and they’re proven commodities. Cherilus, Long, Vollmer, and Loadholt may all be out there. And possibly even Branden Albert, Will Beatty, or Andre Smith (maybe one of those three) could be available.

Kind of the same deal at SAM linebacker. Erin Henderson, Philip Wheeler, Manny Lawson, and Daryl Smith all or at least one or two could hit the market, are already proven, and would be instant upgrades (assuming we keep Foster in the middle).

We have a lot of money. If we could take care of right tackle and strong-side backer in FA, we could use more of our draft picks on potential big-time play-makers.

Dom was def a Rockstar in the draft last year! So we spent a lot of money on Offense and drafted on Defense (with the exception of Martin which was a cant miss). So now this year, I think we need to spend money on Defense and draft high on the Offense. Lane Johnson or Fisher especially. Long as we work a deal with Bennett and Bowers beats his charge, we have other pressing needs.

And its known that OT picks, when picked in the first, almost never end up as busts like picks at QB, DB or Dline. You just cant go wrong with an OT pick 1st this year.

I hope so JP, this is one draft that has to be done perfectly. With so many positions of need, there is always that temptation to over-reach. Dominik will try to draft players according to the order of team needs, but sometimes it’s wise to take the best player available and use FA to fill spots you missed in the draft. I would use the Best Player Available strategy on the first pick and also consider trade proposals.
