To hell with national media. I would much rather have the insightful articles that Joe provides over these "fly by and uninformed" national media guys. You are never going to get more detailed info than Joe can provide. IMO.

From a national point of view, a team finishing last place in the division got all the attention they earned.

I can recall the Thursday night game against the Vikings where the broadcast crew from the NFL Network hardly even acknowledged the Bucs were going to be on the field. Then, at half time, I found it quite satisfying that the the very same crew clearly had their analysis of the Bucs very wrong and were back pedaling the rest of the game.

Yes I also loath Scam Newton! He is a whinnying baby when things do not go his way. He pulls the towel over his head and pouts and says they need a suggestion box to get better. I loved the fact we beat them twice this past season. Good luck with Mike Shula and that salary cap mess your in.

Of course the national media will overlook the Bucs I mean what personalities do the Bucs have?

No Sapp, No Rice, No Brooks

The Panthers, a worst team than the Bucs has a PERSONALITY in Cam Newton. Cam has highlights.

The Bucs QB, Josh Freeman is a non-personality. I mean what highlights do you have of Freeman, other than the INT's and a MJ Moonwalk imitation right?

Honestly, we all know this: The NFL is the one league where market size doesn't matter. It's all about $. Ask New Orleans and Indianapolis, two of the smallest markets and both much smaller than ours, if they aren't getting enough media attention. Bottom line is that they are relevant in a big way, and NFL fans outside those cities want to watch them. If the Bucs break out, they'll get all they deserve. Until then, we are Jacksonville, Cleveland, Kansas City, and Buffalo, Cincinnati, etc. Stop complaining because there is no conspiracy here. If the NFL or media sees value, i.e. dollars, in our team or its progress, it will be reported.

This is a touchy subject for me. I see it all the time, in print, on tv, in interviews. This is not a new occurrence , this has actually been going on for quite some time and it is not only being perpetuated by the NFL. The NFL, MLB, and the media are playing a significant role, on how the Nation perceives Tampa Bay. It mostly started because of attendance issues but it has now morphed into a national tongue whipping. Remember when Coach Schiano was hired? They all said he's just a college coach and he won't survive the NFL. I haven't heard anything like that about Chip Kelly. Remember when Schiano disrupted the kneel down play and it turned out to be perfectly legal. Most of the media couldn't let it go. They gave Schiano a national beat down and all year at the end of every game someone would joke about the kneel down. Then there was this supposed biased player poll about Schiano. Then their was the shift on a field goal try. Every talking head out there called Schiano dirty and then we find out it was a perfectly legal play by the competition committee, but the media still couldn't let it go for weeks after that. Every time you turn around there is some slight being made at Tampa Bay. Have you noticed all the snubs lately? Wait till we start winning some games and we still have black-outs. It will get worse.

I'm pretty sure Doug Martin alone will earn us some primetime this season, apart from the standard Thursday night game. The league took notice last year, and he is on his way to becoming somewhat of a household name.

I would rather be completely ignored than have stories fabricated or unjust opinions spewed from a total ignorance of the team. Florio of PFT knows nothing of the Bucs yet he still TRIES to make a go of it despite not spending two seconds actually researching and trying to uncover information about the team.

When the Bucs go 11-5 or 12-4 and beat up on the rest of the league, they'll have to pay attention... but yeah, there is an undeniable bias against the Bucs in the national media. When they win, the story is always framed as how the opponent played poorly and screwed up, and never about how TB played their asses off.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I think the way the schedule is arranged on NFL Network thursday night football, every team gets at least one national viewing. However, the national media only wants high performing teams to maximize viewership - and quite frankly, that's the way it should be!
