This says to me, Schaino is putting it all on the line knowing he either puts a consistent winning team on the field or his tinure with the Bucs will be short lived. Unfortunately his future depends more on a good, smart, productive and accurate Josh Freeman than a merry band of coaches from Rutgers. I just hope he knows when to change quarterbacks if needed.

You missed assistant strength and conditioning coach Bob Gilmartin. And, though not a coach, Bucs director of football operations Kevin MacConnell was deputy director of athletics at Rutgers.

Haven’t a lot of these guys been coaching in the NFL. The article would make one believe he has formed a college level coaching staff.

Hope he’s not just surrounding himself with “yes men”. Obviously, Shiano is a “my way or the highway” type, but there will be times when he’s wrong and I hope there are a few strong enough coaches and personalties on his staff that will tell him he’s wrong when it needs to be done. This could be very dangerous.

Just remember, much of this same staff was responsible for turning the Rutgers program around; and most of these coaches have NFL experience. The Bucs need a turning around just as Rutgers did. Last year was a good start even with very little time to assemble the staff Schiano wanted. He took what he could get. So now we see some turnover and it makes good sense. Now I’m looking for more improvement this year. May the injury bug take an extended vacation and we see the Bucs make the playoffs.

There is lots that could be said about Schiano’s band of merrymen, but the pragmatic thing to do is to wish this motley crew well. If this works and the Bucs go to the playoffs or beyond, Schiano will be a genius. If not this will be a big part of the editorial comment on what went wrong! So, optimist that I am, Go Bucs!
