Another back would be nice.20 carry’s for Doug and 5 from the backup.My biggest fear is Carl Nicks.I hope he demanded to play with that toe.If not somebody has to answer for the handling of his injury.If they shut him down a week earlier.He would have been good to go for week 1 next year.But playing him in that Minny game might cripple us for year’s to come.Anyone could see he was hurting and getting beat by bum’s.I’d give him the whole season off and redo his contract.Better to have him 100 percent for 3 year’s.Then off and on for the next 2.We’ve seen a 250 pound TE struggle with this injury for what 5 year’s now (Gates).I mean what did they expect the toe was gunna get better?

I am tired of all the Dom love. Yes he deserve some credit but look at the drafts under Raheem, all garbage. Is it a coincidence there is a new coaching staff along with a consultant and the draft went well, I think not.

^^^^^ get used to it because the new CBA changes everything. Every team now has to spend the same amount. Every team will be within an eyelash of salary cap hell and every team will have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl. May the Best GM win.

So I would guess that in the eyes of Shaun King, Dom should be fired for drafting Doug Martin, Lavonte David and Mark Barron.

I see your point, but I still think that would be better than giving him 100% of the carries and him blowing out his knee in 2 years, hypothetically speaking of course, for the simple fact that its more of a risk to injury to give him more snaps rather than less. My point is, we don’t need him to take all the carries and get 250 yards a game to be a consistent winner. we could win with a moderate to good performance by him every week and have him for the long haul. By your logic we would have to find a RB of Martin’s caliber ever couple of years, which is no easy task. I guess its just whatever way you look at it.

Say you give your most explosive RB 75% of the carries for 3 years and he blows his knee out and is done for his career. What have you gained? With the salary cap now the way it is, every team share’s economic parity. Building times are now shorter, no longer can team owners say they are in re-building mode when they have to spend 89% of the adjusted cap every year. The future is now for every team. So to stay a consistent winner in the now you’re more compelled to play your best players more. If they get hurt, move on. Find another Doug Martin because next year your still spending at least 89% of the cap and we all should know that coaching jobs will be tougher to keep, now more than ever, when 32 teams expect their teams to win, now. Everybody can’t win but from the fans perspective there should be no excuse.

I disagree with you. If you have someone special, like Doug Martin, then its wise to prolong his career for as long as you can such as using a complimentary back to keep him fresh. I mean would you rather have Martin get 100% of the carries and last 5 years, or would you rather him get 75% of the carries and last 8 or 9 years? just my opinion but I would go with the latter.

He can get starters money because he will deff. B used enough u just gotta use him right he can return kicks an punts spell Martin he could b a third down back he’s proven inside n out the tackles he has the route running ability an speed to play the slot like Percy harvin he’s our all around go to weapon on offense I’m tellin u he opens up so much more when he’s on the field because the defense has to account for him if u stay down the field wot our receivers him n Martin will chop it up underneath but if u come on down n the box we GOIN UP TOP!!!!! Let’s go bucs !!!!!

@Chris – Dougie took a pounding this season, he took some really heavy hits and he’ll wear out a lot quicker if he doesn’t start running like those guys you mentioned.

Small stature rbs last inthe NFL. ..these guts dont get hit square like other backs. Big backs like Blount do not last. See Warrick Dunn….Emmit Smith….Ray Rice…Barry Sanders. 5’8, 59 210-225 Backs are ideal for the ability to run low to the ground…liw center of gravity and built to withstand punishment.

I think Reggie would be the perfect compliment to Martin. My concern would be what role and how much Bush would be willing to accept. He may want starters money.
