This I agree with 100% 76buc76.
If you are one of the few teams that actually have a true “elite” or “franchise”
guy. It’ll be short lived. BTW, those are two of the most overused words in the league. Every team obviously covets one. Few have anything that resembles the real thing, and yet so many call their guy exactly that.
It’s probably the single biggest reason that the boards appear to be filled with
QB haters. Many are not haters – they’re just not going to pretend to buy the BS spouted by teams trying to protect fragile QB psyches, and keep fans who don’t think for themselves happy. Trust me – if your team has someone truly special, you won’t have to guess. You’ll know it when you see it.

This read option is a fad.It will fade away like the wildcat.Once a couple more QB’s blow out their knee’s.I don’t want the buc’s jumping on this bandwagon.Defences will catchup to this play and LB’s will slice thou the gap and boom.Another team pay’s the price for putting their QB at risk

I’m not a Freeman hater. Have always been a quiet, but often dejected fan hoping to see the light to come on. The “flashes of brilliance” are exciting. I mean, I am after all a fan & am still hoping. Problem is, though the physical tools are obvious, the mental part of the game is undeniably missing & my faith has dwindled. I don’t see real progress occurring in this area, or the all too important intangibles coming to the surface. As for Josh running the read option, it might be a good exercise for him, cause right now, dude can’t make a quick read to save his life. BUT, even if I thought it played to his strength, it doesn’t fit the O-line profile they are building with the big bodys.

If Niners win Super Bowl with the read option offense you will see other NFL teams looking for athletic quarterbacks. Freeman is a very athletic guy, if the Bucs would run the same offense with Freeman and Doug Martin they would get more first downs and control time of possession. I would like to see where they stand stateside in TOP. Freeman isn’t a pure pocket passer. He doesn’t have Brady or Manning footwork. He can run pretty well and is big enough to take hits unlike RGIII. I will watch very closely to see the Niner read and react offense vs. a veteran Raven defense. If the Ravens don’t stop it I think Shiano needs to take a look at incorporating some of it for Freeman.

Brandt list a pretty accurate. What separates Freeman is spots in which he plays terrible. It seams to be at crucial times. Freeman has one more year to help save the Rockstars. If not the rebuilding process will start again.

Gil gets paid for what he once was, not what he currently is.

I like Gil but he has lost about 20 mph off his fastball. He docks Freeman for being incosistent yet has Bradford and Stafford well ahead of him. Stafford had a far worse season, considering what he’s working with and what he did LAST season. 2012 was a huge disapoointment for him and to have him ranked as high as he was cuts into Brandt’s already shaky credibility.

Bad Josh belongs at the bottom of that list.

Sure good QB’s have bad games or game where they may have some inconsistency

But good QB’s aren’t consistently inconsistent and that’s exactly what Free is

Putting him where he belongs on that list IMO

your right about him still being slow in processing things. Sully should quiz him during the off season and every time he gets a question wrong he should slap him upside the head. lol. that ought to let him know this is serious while at the same time knocking some sense into him. He needs to wake up.

No sh!t, dude. I was definitely hoping Freeman could develop, and thought he was going to grow and become “our guy”, but Freeman hasn’t materialized. He’s the same now as he was in 2009, brilliantly gifted from a physical stand point, but he mentally processes the play too slowly.

GMC stepped up this year, and that’s wonderful. Freeman will need to do the same to warrant an extension.

I’m very excited for Josh, as this offseason will likely light a fire under his ass. He will either overcome adversity and mentally graduate as a bonafyde NFL QB, or he will get a seat next to Shaun King as a former Bucs QB.
