I agree with Hawaiian about divisional games. I believe a game like this could come down to turnovers and I like the Bucs in this case. The only way the Panthers win is if the Bucs self destruct, I don’t see that happening.

On an interesting note, during halftime during the California-Oregon game, the sideline babe asked Chip Kelly (10-0) about the devastating injuries to the Mighty Ducks defense. He looked at her like she was crazy and said, “What injuries? We don’t talk about injuries.”

This is a division game, which means it will probably be a tough one. Not to mention the fact that Carolina typically plays us tough no matter what their record. I hate them more than any other team, and I will never forget the game they ran for 300 yards on us on MNF, essentially starting what has been 4 years of miserable football (minus some hope in 2010). If we could beat them by 100, it wouldn’t be enough to make me happy.

Reasons on paper the panthers might win include them gaining 0.6 more yards per dropback than they give up whereas the Bucs are even, that turnovers are barely predictive (we all know of a QB who has thrown 18, 6, 22, and 5 picks in successive seasons), them being the third least penalized team in the league, they’ve played a much tougher schedule, home teams win 57% of the time, they haven’t racked up their good stats in garbage time because most of their games were close, and we might have a bunch of new injuries.

The Bucs are better on net when it comes to running.

Carolina doesn’t look that good when they play and Newton may be one of those rare QBs like Favre whose INTs are consistent over time so I’m not pessimistic, but I wouldn’t be shocked if their record regresses upwards to what the stats say it “should” be going forward.

Our OL backups to the starters are Larsen and Merridith. So we may be down to our THIRD backup on the OL against a descent DL for the Panthers.

We SHOULD be worried about this game. The moment we expect to win, we take our eye off the task at hand.

I don’t think Shiano would let them, but I hope the players are not looking at this game as an “easy win” like alot of fans are. There really are no “easy game wins” on the road in the NFL.

I’m always worried before we play an “easy win” game. If I remember correctly we were supposed to beat the Chargers easily. I hope we go in there and just REALLY stick it to them. Enough to get Rivera fired because of this game alone.
