He is not a money issue but just does not fit. Cutting him wont cost us anything and we need someone to help Martin who has similar attributes so we dont have to be predictable based on which back is in place. Anyone have MJD’s agents number?

Seems Blount’s inconsistency is what may be holding him back. Schiano’s referrenced that he’s practiced better lately, which is a really curious statement. Is that saying he doesn’t practice with the intensity other guys do, he’s not assignment sound, or …? From an endzone view on one of Blount’s runs during the Minnesota game, Lorig blocked the MLB to the right creating a lane over LG, yet Blount cut it right over RG and ran into the blitzing safety and DT for no gain. Could be that ocassional lack of vision and lack of trust by the staff is what’s keeping him on the bench.

Blount is a great RB and he will find a home next year. One good thing is that RB’s don’t age like other athletes, they absorb damage and accumulate injuries until they no longer can perform.

LGB is getting paid to practice and stays fresh. He no longer fumbles. His legend grows and so will his paychecks.

Objectively, looks like a good move to keep him. He’s young, cheap, proven and hasn’t been a knucklehead this year…

Subjectively, I think we should’ve gotten rid of him for the right price (4th/5th rounder). He doesn’t seem to – no, scratch that – he doesn’t fit within our blocking scheme and he’s already shown that he doesn’t have enough tools to be effective on 3rd downs or short yardage…and he doesn’t play special teams either. So basically he’s just taking up a roster spot.

If he were traded and, worse case scenario Dougie gets hurt, I think the Ware/Smitty/Madu would be passable for the rest of the season.
