Wow!! I saw this coming at least 3 weeks ago, Trueblood is better suited for guard anyway because his constant struggle was against speed rushers…. At guard, its more about using power and leverage than dealing with speed… PREDICTION… If Blount starts, 100 yd day for him… BOOK IT

It will take Joseph a long time to come back from this knee injury. His legs weren’t in great shape to begin with. It would be very foolish to expect him to be back at full strength next year and even more foolish to not have a backup plan for him possibly never being the same again. We will draft his replacement this coming year. Either that or we’ll draft a center and Zuttah will move over.
As far as Trueblood goes, he has awful knee bend so I can’t see him being worth much at guard, but what can it really hurt to try at this point? They have some money invested in him so they might as well try to figure out a reason to have him active on Sundays. I tink decent DT’s will probably destroy him bull rushing. He really doesn’t have much trade value either, certainly nowhere close to a 3 or 4 like someone suggested.

Agree with you there bucfanjeff. Schiano has stated he’s a big fan of guys that can play multiple positions and Trueblood recently took a paycut so he’s not that pricey.

Trueblood at RG could earn him a longer spot on this team. When you have a player that can play G and T, it helps your team…ask Zuttah. He may even be very good at G.

We still need to see him play, but if the results are good, you find a way to reasonably keep him.

It could just be my opinion and its not worth much but there’s not much of a ceiling for him at guard. If he does well then he very well could be relegated as a backup swing OL? As someone whom has started his entire career, this is not a move forward. He is pretty much in a no-win situation for himself with the Bucs. I think he’ll play hard and tough, but I would be surprised if he’s looking forward to this “opportunity”. Its probably the best move for the Bucs but its not for Trueblood.

i think coaching him to play 2 spots instead of one is not so much about him starting at RG…at least not right away. if penn goes down our best option would be swing dotson to the left and give Jeremy his job back – not possible during a game unless trueblood is active. if Jeremy can be an emergency guard and play 2 more positions in a pinch, he is no longer a candidate to be inactive on game day. i don’t think trueblood or any other expendable buc would garner much trade interest, unfortunately. it’s a good bet that if Schiano is talking this expansively about it, it is not involved in Sunday’s gameplan

Because his marketability at RT has diminished and his only smart career move would be to show his versatility on the offensive line. Knowbody expects him to unseat Joseph but his future stock in the open market will be greatly rewarded especially if he does excel at the Guard position.

I think Trueblood has all the incentive in the world. If he can dominate at RG he may keep the job. He makes far less money than Joseph and either could become trade bait, but it is doubtful Trueblood could take the job for good.
