Pete, I generally like reading your posts, but you are making yoursel look incredibly stupid by just being stubborn. Every argument you try to make makes yourself look even worse. Besides being apparently blind, you gave false information on players fined. Now you are showing you don’t know the rules of football. If a player barely steps out and steps back in and continues to try to advance the ball (with no whistle), then he can be hit.

So let’s do this because you want to be stubborn on this: let’s place a wager. If Barron gets a fine or ANY sort of punishment, you have to name yourself “Pete still learning football Dutcher”. If he does get punished, I’ll do the same. Bet you won’t take that bet, because you know you are wrong. But go ahead and continue to stick to your guns, it’s very funny.

pete, if you watch the video posted by jrock via bleacher report, the 2 steps you are talking about are not out of bounds. smith gets pushed by barber towards the sideline, but he turns up the sideline, he does not step out. this is not that important an issue though.

Let’s see Pete, no whistle was blown on the play when you suggest Smith stepped out of bounds.

Joe provided photographic evidence Smith was not out of bounds.

There was no flag thrown.

No one from the Carolina coaching staff argued for a flag.

The play was shown at three different angles by the NFL Network last night and none of the panelists believe Smith was out of bounds.

Only you seem to be the lone person who claims Smith was out of bounds.

Might want to reassess.

BucFan20, don’t even go there. Just because I say this doesn’t mean I’m negative.

I wasn’t wrong, Joe. That picture shows AS the hit occurred. Smith stepped out before that. The two steps before that. He moved back in after stepping out, and his left foot stepped in, however his balance was off as a result and his right foot was going to come down out of bounds again.

Sheesh people, how can you not see that in the video? It’s plain as day.

I don’t see the need to create a new nickname for Barron. With a name like that and the Bucs colors being what they are I think it is obvious. I think he should wear Red every game even if the team is wearing whites. The receivers would be like allied pilots in WWI flinching at any red blur diving in on them. Go Red Barron!!

Pete:

Joe watched the highlights on NFL Network and when the Bucs highlights came on they showed that play. Joe freeze-framed the hit. Smith’s left foot was inbounds and his right foot was in the air and he had not yet stepped out of bounds.

Hit was clean as a whistle. And beautiful Joe might add.

Oh, and no one on the NFL Network suggested the hit was dirty. In fact, Deion went nuts he loved it so much; they showed the play three times.

And before you get extra ignorant, a helmet to helmet hit is not illegal if the runner is not in a defenseless position. Running with the ball, lowering your head, and getting hit helmet to helmet is not a defenseless receiver.
