One Friday night, around 1984-1985, I was in the Hillsborough Hooters for a pitcher of beer, delicious grouper sandwich and curly fries. Some guy in a Hooter’s shirt, might actually have been Gruden, came up to me and said he needed a few big guys to throw out an unruly customer. It wasn’t the manager but some kid that worked behind the counter. He asked if I would help?

He said he needed help because it was a local professional football player, an offensive lineman. When he pointed him out to me, I laughed, this guy was picking up waitresses by the crotch with one hand and lifting over his head while chugging beer from a pitcher in his other hand. There was a look of absolute terror in the eyes of his selected waitresses. The girls kept the pitchers coming. It was funny and scary at the same time.

I declined to assist, this guy’s forearms were bigger than my thighs.

It was the late Steve Courson who came here from the Steelers and later admitted that his body was created by steroids. His heart gave out on him at a very young age.

Maybe, Joe can get a confirmation from Gruden himself. I’m sure he would never forget that spectacle.
