Cam does not scare me. Yes he deserves his respect, there’s no question about that. But he also had the benefit of “showing out” against a very ill-prepared, lackadaisically-coached, “no solutions for anything” Bucs team (and leadership).

This year, he will have to contend with an actual Bucs running game (that could potentially keep him on the sidelines), a four-headed leadership hydra-monster (OC, DC, HC, & Butch Davis), an opposing Bucs offense that could potentially match him score for score, and improved defense backed by real coaching.

I might also add, that the new Bucs defense will come equipped with an extremely athletic former nemesis of his, who just happens to help “quarter-back” the D. I doubt Cam will be running for many more 30+ yard touchdowns with Mark Barron around…

Thanks for posting Chris, I had the same problem.

I agree Cam is going to give us headaches, but my hope is we have the same success against him that we enjoyed when lining up across from Michael Vick in his time with the Falcons.

Our defense is NOWHERE near that level though… we’ll see. Hoping for a wildcard, I’ll have plenty of beer stocked otherwise though.

As usual, few recognizes the ability of NFC Coaches to adjust defenses during the offseason when a new star comes into the league. They will adjust to Newton and I expect more of an average year than the outstanding one he had. The bottom line will be that the NFC South will be a dogfight and I expect the Bucs for be competing for the second or third position in the division.

Thanks Chris for posting the link. It does not appear on my computer either. In fact it is blank where it is supposed to be.

As for Carolina winning, the first real game will show us how both them and the Bucs will be this year.

You may be right, but look for Newton to suffer like so many other players with first year success. A little tape and a little over confidence should bring Cam right back to earth. That run and gun style only works until game day tape shows up and that wide open window is now almost closed. Ask Freeman!

I agree with Woodson, Carolina will win the division.
Cam Newton, their 3 stud running backs, and 3 awesome linebackers are just going to be too much to overcome.
But I see Tampa as coming in second in the NFC South, and maybe sneaking into the playoffs as a wild card.
Cam Newton is just too good, and he will have a whole year to learn the Ron Rivera offense.
