Joe is not privy to Schiano’s contract.

It’s the “right time” for Shiano because he got passed over for the Penn State job. Simple as that.

Joe sees where you are going with that, can’t disagree. But the eggheads at Penn State decided to hire a coach with only one football voice in the room. Hell they had a volleyball coach on the search committee!!! Bill O’Brien’s record as a college coach is horrible. You know the old saying, “”it’s better to follow the guy who follows a legend?” Probably what Schiano’s doing here. Go to the NFL for a few years (like Nick Saban) and if you don’t have success, hopefully wade it out until O’Brien is canned and then move in to Penn State.

Now get us some wins!

However…I never played football and I know less about the game than I know. I live in Florida…no basements.

I am mostly positive though.

My 60 second reaction to this hire when I first got wind of it was to freak out…but after five minutes of fast research, I became convinced this was a fantastic hire. I would venture to say that it might end up being one of the top two hires in the history of the Bucs, though it will take time to prove out.

I like that Schiano is a man of God like Dungy is. I like that he can adapt to his players and get the most out of all of them, even the bad ones.

I like that so many players and coaches have been endorsing him for years. I like that he’s received many offers, so for more money…and he waited. This tells me that he is wise…and committed to doing the right thing.

And finally, I like that he commands his team. The man even looks tough as nails

Hopefully they are working together on it. And, I suspect they have to clear it with the Glazers since they do write the checks.

I agree that GM’s are always involved and it is a silly notion they arent, kinda like the “they have the same agent” babble – which is rediculous.

Looks like perhaps none of the candidates interviewed will be joining the team as coordinators – another blow for local hack conventional wisdom.
