Mooch is another :nice guy:, just like Raheem.
Sure, I like him, and I like Raheem too, how can you help but like them.
But not as head coaches, especially here in Tampa now.
I think we need a hard ass old school disciplinarian that will take no chit from our players.

Sooner in Tampa Says:
January 26th, 2012 at 7:56 am

There are more and more rumors floating around about ANOTHER mystery candidate.

I will throw a name out there…MOOCH!! He also has the same agent as our rockstar GM. They could be working a deal with him behind the scenes…nobody would have to know until they reach an agreement

A couple days ago, I realized no one was considering him...including myself. I spent a little time thinking about it.

The theory I came up with is this: Mooch would more than likely accept a coordinator role if he wants back into the NFL. Most fired HCs will. Some even settle for lesser roles.

So my thinking was that if we go with a first time HC, Mooch would be a good veteran coordinator. The one flaw in that is if there is success, Mooch would jump at an offer of HC from another team in a year or two...which is why I think going with an offensive HC is best.

However...I think defense, offense or ST (Rich) would work out fine if a good supporting staff is hired.

On Cowher...
I think it's possible that the Bucs are at least approaching him at this point, probably in secret. First, they've shown a willingness to spend...although Cowher would want even more. Second, Arian is free to work with him now...which means Cowher would have someone he wants in his staff available.

Dominick would have to be willing to lose some power...maybe focus mostly on contract negotiations.

The question is....is Cowher worth 7-8 million per year?

That's a tough one. On the surface...I say yes. He would instantly have games sold out, the players would respect his past, and he's a tough disciplinarian.

Also, Freeman has been compared to Big Ben...Cowher might like that.

I remember that the Gruden deal had seemingly fallen through...and then the Bucs offered all out compensation to change the mind of Davis. With Cowher, we would not have to lose draft picks...the Glazers would just need to be willing to throw a LOT of money and power his way.

I could see a longer contract as well.

This is all wishful thinking, but it would be sweet. Imagine if we somehow landed Cowher as HC, Marty or Mooch as OC.

BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Im starting to believe that Sherman and all these other guys were all just a smokescreen. I now believe that Kelly was choice #1 from an offensive mastermind perspective and Perry Fewell from the Giants is the Glazers #2 choice as defensive mastermind.

I firmly predict that Perry Fewell will be the Bucs next head coach.

Boy, I sure hope you're right. For them to wait that long only to hire Kevin Gilbride would really be a downer! The guy comes across as the biggest pansy in the league! If this crew wouldn't put out for Rah, they sure as hell aren't going to put out for Gilbride! I like Fewell but, my only concern is he may be Raheem 2.0. My real concern with him are the game-long mental lapses the Giants defense had this season. Granted they stepped up when need be, but with that defensive front 7 they should be dominating most games.

That why you pay him well. Zimmer won't be going anywhere for anything less than the HC job. Give it to him. Marty probably just wants back into the NFL. Make it happen and make sure everybody is happy by spreading that 6 mil around a bit.

@Sam
I was called an idiot for suggesting Marty as OC instead of HC 2 weeks ago.
I prefer:

Clements HC
Marty OC (this would be perfect; Clements would have Marty as an advisor for a few years)
Edwards or such as DC
