If we could get Andre Johnson for nothing but money we HAVE to spend anyway, how many would object to getting Josh Freeman the best target in the league? Aso is the same thing on the other side of the ball in a more desirous position of need. If you are going to depend on Biggers why not bring the best corner in the game to teach him? Talib will screw himself. Ronde, like the angel he is, will make it through a season and the tandem would give Brees and Ryan fits..... Talib being our 3rd option would be NASTY...

How does Aso make anyones job harder on D? ..... Biggers would make it harder on Josh. As long as we can also get our LB, why would ANYONE oppose??

I'm a luxury guy!! The best secondary in the league is a luxury we can afford- so buy it!! I know you guys don't think that our Rookie/ ist year player D- line is gonna be dominant this year- do you? Really? They will be awesome someday, but with no time with the coaches, no Mini camps, no nothing- this is gonna be a lost year for the young D-line. Thomas 2. 2 will be calling Clayborn and Bowers wasted picks next offseason. It won't be their fault, but they will struggle this year- thanks to everyones favorite lockout!!

Given that- doesn't a great secondary sound like a luxury we might need? If we struggle against the run( Foster ain't gone to Mini camp either!!), struggle with getting pressure, and lose one of our best pass defenders( Ruud)- you guys might just wanna figure out what this defense CAN stop this year!! Looking kinda shaky to me. Baby D- line, we lose Ruud, Black and Hayes played horrible last year. Barber is older. Talib is in deeper trouble- hmmm, you guys may wanna taper that optimism! The offense will be bettr, but the weak squad will be weaker, not better, til the rooks get an offseason with Millard and Stretz to figure out what they should be doing!

Capt couldnt agree more! Aso is the best player available! I feel like the old bucs when we had good players in sapp, lynch, and brooks.. Except its on offense now with Freeman, Williams, and blount.. Its time to bring in some A talent to the defense and the only A talent is aso!

Don't get me wrong Joe, I respect your opinion in the matter, and can see your point. I'm not nearly" the sky is falling" as some of my post sound. I'm presenting a different point of view. I do believe we face the possiblityof losing both starting CBs very early. I do have some faith in Lewis and Biggers. But that leaves us dangerously thin, against some tremendous passing attacks. Nnamdi is nothing but money. Dominick can give him the long term he wants, and structure the money the way we want.

I understand we have worse needs at OLB, and need some depth at DT and RB. But our CB situation is a very thin ice issue from collapse. We could fix it for years to come, at virtually no impact to the team( draft picks/ players).

Or do we spend next summer like this one. Wondering if Talib is done, and spending a first round pick on a rookie- who might never be half what Nnamdi brings to us right now? I say save that pick for a nose tackle- sign the leagues best CB right now, and never worry about our secondary again for 5-6 years!

Joe
1) who sits?? What century is this? Atlanta never has a TE and Fullback on the field at the same time! Neither does New Orleans, or 80% of NfL teams! It's 3 WR sets as a base offense. Fullback is almost a vanished position.4 WRs are more Common than 2! 2 WRs, a fullback, TE, and RB went out in the 80's! You see empty backfields more than 2 WRs! None of those 3 set.
We played a 3-3-5 defense 50% of the time. The question is- if Talib gets suspended, and ( ( god forbid!) at 38, Ronde pulls a Hamstring- who plays??? Lewis, Mack, Biggers? On a all too frequent 4 WR set? Gaitor? One of them gets turf toe- who's next?

2) of course Mark Dominck prepared for the lose of Barber( Myron Lewis). He didn't prepare for the rolling chaos storm that is Talib- who could! That's why they begged Ronde for another year. At 38 - holding up to a full time starting CB job is gonna be difficult. I hope he can do it! But they are counting on him to be field coach for the young guys. If he isn't there, the young guys will struggle!

3) if we lose Talib to his own immaturity, and Barber for ANY reason, getting a CB is gonna require draft picks or players. And losing both of our starting CBs is sadly a very real possibilty. Try getting a decent CB at midseason- lol- good luck, you'll be trading Arrelious Benny to find a starter. Now, we can get the best one in the league . For nothing but money- money we got tons of, and gotta spend anyway.

I believe We will do the right thing. I think Mark Dominck isn't gonna risk our season on a player with no team loyalty. He will get another quality competitor at CB, and assure that we aren't facing the best passing attacks in league, with a bunch of first year starters - good luck with that!
