Sorry, but Weed will not be legal…not so long as second-hand smoke and highs are an issue. And clearly it kills brain cells. These guys make millions (or hundreds of thousands) and they are stupid enough to smoke the junk. And these are (usually) college grads???

There is certainly cause for concern…and I think punishments should be very stiff when cases are proven in court after due process.

Raheem’s buddy-buddy system has worked for morale, but it’s certainly shown some flaws. Hopefully he’ll crack down on things.

Incidently, Raheem did not bring in Talib, Tanard or Stevens…so let’s evaluate the players he has brought in….

…Alex Magee is the only one that has had a problem. Reports are that the amount was very, very little…but if the lockout were on, I bet he’d certainly fail the tests.

If he is proven guilty…if…then he should be punished. Cut? That depends on his sincerity and importance to the team. He should, if guilty, be suspended for a few games though.

Notice…I stressed that he needs to be proven guilty first. Why? Ask our own Mike Williams.

This pains me to say this, but I actually agree with your statement Thomas (hang on while I swallow my own vomit). I don’t have a problem with them smoking weed, but seriously guys, stop getting caught! If you are going to break the law, at least do it discretely.

Problem is, I don’t know how much Raheem and Dominik can really do to stop this. I think most would agree this is not a major crime, probably not worthy of being cut. However, at the same time you can’t just continue to let this happen. Maybe they should have a sit down with the entire team and discuss the penalties. They should do it during OTA’s when everyone is in Tampa. Oh wait, I forgot…..

I think Holder made some excellent points today on the radio in the pm about how the org, namely rah and dom, need to do something to stop this. Suggesting that they havent done much yet.

He also said that the glazers are image sensitive and he hears a “trickle down” of their feelings on articles – but denying that content was influenced. I doubt that.

Holder seemed to agree with herm edwards who have said that talib should be cut.

It is par for the course with this club. Do you really think that it is just THC Jax, j Stevans and magee. No, the vast majority of the team is toking, they should be renamed the TOKE-ANEERS.

It is hard to directly blame rah for this due to the lockout. It will continue to be a problem when you have a young, immature coaching staff and roster – the lack of maturity leads to this stuff. You wouldnt see this happening to brooks, alstott, barber, rice etc – they were mature and had too much to lose. The kids typically dont get it. Yes free is the exception.

However, i dont view pot posession as a crim

Weed will be legal one day. I don’t smoke it, but be real. It is everywhere, and a part of American life for many. Just as prohibition did not work, except to make bootleggers rich, and create gangs, keeping weed illegal is doing the same thing.
It is also making criminals out of otherwise law abiding Americans. True conservatives realize laws made to ‘protect people from themselves’ are doomed to failure.
I would put money that nearly 1/2 of professional athletes smoke weed, this poor guy just got caught. In several US Cities, the cops would simply not bother with under an ounce of weed, or maybe give you a ticket for it. But here in Tampa, where they have a oversized jail, thanks to the Buc’s and the “Community Investment Tax”, they have a huge fish tank, and are always looking for another black man to put in it. And if that black man just happens to be a pro athlete, so much the better it seems ?
