Yea, my views on that are more personal than about whether or not it’s a good business move.

I just loved the marathon feel to the draft in the past. Grew up as an absolute draftnik, and there was something to be said about those of us who would block off hours on a weekend to watch 22 year olds become millionaires and hundred thousand-aires. And I really miss having the first and second rounds going back to back.

I guess I just liked having it set up for only the hardcore fans, but I can’t disagree that the move has put more eyes on the draft which all in all is a good thing.

Say the young Bucs won 10 games last year, but the rebuttle to that is, there will be a top teir of teams like the Yankees and Red Sox (pro bowl type teams) that will pound our young team.

If the NFL opens it’s doors and allows a wild wild west free agency like the players union is forcing, then the Bucs will be like the Rays.

Can’t go along with you there. This was actually a very savvy move by Goodell. Think of it: We have football on a Thursday and a Friday night and most of the day on Saturday.

In addition, far more people are watching the draft now than they ever did. That also means more $$$ for the owners.

Props to Goodell on this one!

If it wasn’t for Bud Selig, Roger Goodell would be the worst commissioner in the history of pro sports. From suspensions and fines for hard hits, to taking home games away from fans and sending them to London, to the Gestapo-esque attitude he’s brought to the league (I’m no Pacman Jones fan, but how the hell can you kick a guy out of the league who’s NEVER BEEN ARRESTED?), and now he has a lockout on his watch.
