"LB and CB are worrisome looking down the road 2-3 years"

That may very well be, personally I don't think so, but lets pretend that you're right. This is not the draft to be reaching for a CB or LB at the 20th pick, no matter how bad you think the team needs them. Smith and Wilson are not worthy, value/talent wise, to be picked that early. There will probably be at least two or three DE's still rated higher and probably two or three Offensive Linemen also. On a value chart, DE and OT blow MLB completely out of the water. I could probably live with them drafting a CB at 20, but that's only if by some miracle Amukamara is still sitting on the board when our clock starts.

RASTAMON

A DE in the 1st round of this draft is not reaching... most likely. Besides, everyone needs to stop the nonsense when it comes to "do we take BPA or draft for NEED".

There is not a GM in the league who does either. It is a combination of BOTH.

LB will be addressed. I predict 2 DEs and 2 LBs in the first 5 rounds. Both positions are deep enough that it will not be reach to accomplish it.

As for CB, how is that an issue? CB is very deep on this team. Talib and Barber backed up by Lewis and Biggers. Mack is the weakest link and he is 5th in the rotation. Biggers and Lewis have the qualitites to develop into the Barber replacement and will be fighting for that spot another year, which is only beneficial.

Either way, with what Dominick has done the last 2 years, I have confidence in him to make some good decisions and keep this team heading in the right direction.

"RastaMon,
You need to get over your “Michael Clayton Syndrome”. Your philosophy only works if the other consensus #1 players at other positions grade out higher than the consensus lower rated players at other positions"....as the draft progresses that argument becomes stronger, early on to a much much lesser degree.
This is a decent year for DE's....the talent delta flat lines after the 1st or 2nd...with many to fit and match needs later
LB
and CB are worrisome looking down the road 2-3 years

If you can somehow convince me that Jimmy Smith or Martez Wilson should grade out higher overall than say, Ryan Kerrigan or JJ Watt, then maybe I can see things your way. Otherwise this is a silly arguement because as of right now, the consensus 3rd, 4th, and 5th rated DE's (team need + high positional value) all rate higher overall than the consensus #3 CB (not a need) and the consensus #1 MLB (very low positional value). Hell, I would take the 2nd or 3rd rated O-Tackle, maybe even the #1 Guard before I would touch Smith or Wilson, and I happen to like Jimmy Smith, just not at the 20th pick.

Josh Freeman was the consensus 3rd ranked QB in the 2009 draft.

Is Josh still the consensus 3rd ranked QB from that draft? I don't think so. A DE is part of a line which is part of a team, it is how they play together and think. I am not a coach or GM but the top ranked is not always the best for the team.

The question is he the best for the team?
