I took some heat a couple years ago for calling the Aqib Talib pick before the season was even done. The big difference between my prediction and yours is that mine made perfect sense, and yours does not.
There is no possible way that Kyle Rudolph is even close to being the 20th best player in the country.

I have to ‘give it up” for Jo Mama. He has been over on the message board saying what he says he says about Rudolph, and taking a lot of heat for it.

Like I have said, you always need depth, and they will definately need someone to step up as a receiving TE SOON because of K2′s knees, but I think the front 7 on defense is more pressing right now.

If they could get pressure on the QB from the edges AND have some LBs that could plug a hole, they are SB contenders NOW.

The offense is going to get better for these simple reasons:
- Freeman another year in the offense
- Olsen another year of the offense
- The O_line has depth no one knew it had last year
- The WRs have depth no one knew they had
- Blount is the man

The only thing they really need on offense is a change of pace explosive back and maybe another OT, depending on what happens to Trueblood.

The defense, however, NEEDS DEs. They NEED to get better at LB.
- Hayes makes plays, but is inconsistent.
- Black is average and Watson should take his job.
- Ruud… is a hot button topic and I think McCkenzie and a rookie will be fighting for the starting job because Ruud probably takes more money and walks

Hayes is proably the only starting LB to keep his job this year IMO.

Doesn’t mean they don’t take a TE, I just can’t see it happening until the mid rounds or later.

Dave,

I was the First and Only person in the Country to demand that Kyle Rudolph should be drafted number one by the bucs….

I got slammed on a daily basis on the 620 boards for such blasphmy….

Now all of a sudden it’s the talk of the country…..

How about someone get me a ticket for calling it back in January…

Regardless if they draft him or not….to even have the powers that be even talk about it, is vindication enough.

I would not mind a TE in the 1st or 2nd at all. It would open up our offense even more.

Hate the idea. IF they want a TE grab one in the later rounds. This guy already has injury issues and the front 7 of the defense is PRIORITY ONE

I wouldn’t count chickens before the hatch. They are not going to spend a first round pick on the guy…not when he’s going to fall in the draft all the way to third round because of his history.

The first rounder will either go to a Defensive End or an Offensive Lineman.

This is what I said when the season ended and I have not changed my tune since. I also sid they would look for a tightend in the first 5 picks.

I agree with you. I would have no problem the Bucs drafting another position outside of the 5th or 6th DE. I would certainly trust Raheem and Jimmy Lake to spot elite talent at the CB position. I trust them if they draft Smith. I’m not so sure Biggers and Lewis will be elite.

Look, the truth is this dude is average. Last year you had 6 or 7 TEs that went in the 3rd round or later that project out better than Rudolph. Taking him in the first because this year’s TE class is weak is not good value.

Taking a TE like Julius Thomas or Cameron Jordan in the later rounds would have 1000x the value. They both have more potential than Rudolph and could be had in the 3rd -5th round.
