Enjoyed the column, but I have one comment for Carlson. A baseball game is always better in person, especially at the Trop where the views are awesome. You can see so much more of all the things that make baseball baseball. TV never compares. THat's one thing I like about the dome. You can just focus in on the game and never worry about the weather or planes, etc. ...Liking Joeraysfan.com. Great sites Joe.

Just exactly what demand are the Bucs trying to increase by reducing the supply? Do they really think this is going to motivate more grateful fans to show up on game day? I'm no economist, but I don't think it's going to work like that. In fact in the short term, I think it could have the opposite effect.

An addendum to Jeff's fine column:

One reason many if not most NFL teams do not charge for training camp is that per an NFL rule, if a team charges admission to a training camp, it also must allow other teams access to tape/film of the same practice. That's why the Redskins stopped charging. Financially, it was a major success as each practice was like a street fair or carnival.

Football coaches by nature are obsessively paranoid. They see black helicopters and IRS agents around ever corner. Just the thought of allowing practice video to be shared is enough to induce seizures among many coaches if not an outbreak of hives.

Think about it: There's gold in them thar hills to charge for training camp. If NFL teams can rape fans for $8 a beer and $20 (in many cases, far more) for parking, you think they'd pass up easy money to charge fans to watch a practice?

Of course, there's always a chance this rule can change. As Jeff suggested, enjoy the free practices while you can.

Jeff, this was a dynamite column. Thank you.

Nice thought and probably very wise, but just open the doors Glazers. I loved going over on the weekdays before work. Even to just watch them catch punts or run footwork drills. The Bucs should open the doors. They don't always have to entertian. ...It's not like they don't have security all over the complex anyway.

Terrific analysis. I used to visit camp in otown and really appreciated it. Fans of the team will go whenever and wherever possible...we should enjoy the opportunities given and stop complaining. It's just camp
