Leonard Fournette Says He’s Cool With “Mike Tyson Lenny”

August 18th, 2022

Fighter

While the Bucs-Titans practice in Nashville today was a shorts-and-shells affair, no full pads, things got a little hairy in the trenches and a punch was thrown very late in practice.

Joe saw the mob of players and heard the shouting, but Joe didn’t see the punch that many Tennessee media types said was hurled by Leonard “Lombardi Lenny” Fournette at Pro Bowl Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

Joe also would label Simmons an All-Pro instigator after watching him the past two days.

So did Fournette really throw a punch? Joe asked Fournette after practice if it now fits to call him “Mike Tyson Lenny.”

Joe apologized for not thinking of anything better, but Fournette smiled, thought for a moment and said he liked it and is good with it.

So there you go.

Thankfully, nobody got hurt and it was just one of those things. No, Joe doesn’t know who started it.

It did generate a “dumb sh*t” quote from Titans head coach Mike Vrabel (below), which Joe has learned is one of Vrabel’s favorite sayings.

  7. GOB Says:

GOB is starting to wonder about these joint practices. The Patriots had a bunch of fights with the Panthers in their joints too. It’s happening all across the league. I think if they allowed a little more hitting in camp, these fights wouldn’t happen nearly as often. I’m all for a good scrum, but it wastes time. You can’t pen these guys up, unleash them, and expect this not to happen. Last thing any team needs is someone breaking their hand on a helmet.
