Bucs Past Reunited In Oakland

March 22nd, 2019

“I prepared you well for a special brand of crazy, my son.”

As Joe has written repeatedly for years, you just can’t make this stuff up when it comes to the Bucs — and their former coaches and players.

Today, Chucky’s Oakland Raiders announced they signed the man Lovie Smith dubbed the Bucs’ quarterback of the future, Mike Glennon.

Yes, Glennon has left the nurturing 2018 bosom of the Cardinals and Byron Leftwich, the new Bucs offensive guru and quarterback wizard, for the maniacal lair of Chucky.

Joe is proud of Chucky because this means his gushing over Glennon on the old Gruden’s QB Camp show wasn’t all hot air. Remember when Chucky compared Glennon to Brett Favre? It’s not in the video highlight below, but you can probably find it on YouTube.

It would be such a Bucs thing to have Derek Carr go down injured this season and Glennon lead the Raiders to a playoff victory, in which Glennon puts up just enough points on the Patriots defense led by former Bucs commander Greg Schiano.

HAHAHA! Yeah, if it came to Glennon and Chucky vs the Pats in a playoff, I will def be a Raider fan on that day lol.

  2. tmaxcon Says:

all that math tickdr did and glennon still let the man down….. this will be fun…. my guess glennon won’t make it out of camp.

  3. DB55 Says:

Gruden beat Bill with Gannon i don’t care anybody says. Tuck rule my …..

  4. BringBucsBack Says:

Joe, the only thing missing from your scenario listed in your final sentence is the tuck rule.

  5. Jeff Says:

Hate to say it. But more likely than TB making the playoffs.

  6. Jamaal Stanley Says:

Wow, you I’m looking NFL network total access. Everybody round talks sacks this sacks that. The pats were 3rd to last in sacks last season. Steelers ties with the chiefs for the most. One didn’t sniff the tournament the other beaten by the pats in the tournament. Makes me feel Belichess formula of placing more emphasis on the back end i.e the McCourty twins,Chung and Gilmore must be the proper formula.Pssst.

  7. Jamaal Stanley Says:

They just spoke with Josh Allen, they showed a few highlights. That guy is Big on simply trying to out athletic his opponents. I don’t see the physicality in his game to even warrant going round 1. He gone get manhandled in the NFL.

  8. Jamaal Stanley Says:

Looks like Demarcus Ware but doesn’t deploy the physical nature of Ware.

  9. unbelievable Says:

Just cuz they didnt have a ton of sacks doesn’t mean they didnt get lots of pressures, hurries and hits on QBs.

Defense or offense, it doesn’t mater- it starts in the trenches. If your line sucks, it doesn’t matter who your skill position players are.

  10. Jamaal Stanley Says:

The raiders gone take the bait and draft y’all darling josh Allen in hopes of filling shoes Khalil left behind.. He won’t be able to. That’s the biggest fraud in the class. Write this down, take a picture, screen shot cut and paste this muthaf@&$ to remind later when the season starts if I’m wrong.

  11. AwShbucs Says:

Jamaal that kind of nonsense you are talking about Josh Allen right now is the same type of junk you were talking about Christian McCaffrey and Joe Mixon and any RB not named Dalvin Cook back in 2017. And it’s the same type of junk that made you lose 150 bucks that same year. I heard from a little birdy that you still owe a guy 100 bucks. That’s just what I heard.

Josh Allen has the goods brother. If UK had used him right he easily could a racked up 15 sacks easy last season. If we are lucky enough to land him you better thank your lucky stars because he’s gonna be a force.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Yeah, because everything you say is so believable, lol.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @unbelievable

Kind of makes me wonder…if we had the best two lines in football, would the rest matter?

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @MadMax

I don’t get all the Pats hate.

What they’ve done is amazing. Historic.

I think it’s more envy than anything else.

  15. Walter Says:

I’ll always love the “…….., my son.” that you add to the end of your Schiano captions. 🤣 Dude really did LOVE Glennon like a son, the realest member of the Mike Glennon Mob.

  16. Jean Lafitte Says:

Good for Glennon. So instead of wishing Glennon (a former Buccaneer) any luck, you continue to tear him down. Must we go negative all the time? Come up for air once in awhile Joe. Negativity doesn’t always sell, ..or does it?
Where exactly is Joe negative here?? “Tearing” down Glennon? Lotta drama lovers commenting around here. Thankfully, Joe just being Joe sells. –Joe

  17. El Buco Realisto Says:

If MG8 gets his shot, then the “real” fans will be pulling for the Raiders!!!!!! Some think the question was either JW3 or MM, But the “real” answer was that the Bucs should have traded down!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 season will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Anonymous Says:

Glennon personal regimen needs to include strengthening his spleen. Go Galloping Girafe.

  19. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Real fans Glennon was a scrub you tool!

  20. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Knew

  21. Anonymous Says:

    Realist

glennon did get his shot and threw up all over himself like an infant eating solid food for the first time. glennon was a disater in Chicago a complete and total train wreck just like I said he would be.

  22. Owlykat Says:

Chucky has no business playing his own GM if he believes Glennon can save his team if Carr goes down. Yes Glennon is smart and has a strong arm but he is a true sack magnet with virtually no escapability, and has wracked up a long list of failures in real games. If he is smart Chucky will use his high draft pick to take a top QB because Carr has never recovered from his back injury and is not his old self. Chucky made sure he could tank last year by trading off his talent to get this high draft pick. I am interested to see what he does with it. He

  23. Tbbucs3 Says:

This idea that when we compare Glennon we compare him to other starting QBs in the NFL is ridiculous.

When evaluating Mike Glennon as a starting QB, is he good? No not really….

But as a back up…Glennon was able to put together some quality performances for the Bucs with both Schiano (Josh Freeman benching) And Lovie Smith (Pittsburgh win).

Glennon is clearly a limited QB but is serviceable in the NFL (which is not easy to do) And works better in certain systems and I think him with Grudens Offense is a good fit.

  24. Go Bucs 72 Says:

I have a better chance of winning a playoff game than Glennon.

  25. Tbbucs3 Says:

Bucs fans want every QB to be a franchise quarterback or he sucks.

Spoiler alert Mike Glennon is better than Ryan Griffin.

  26. Widerightandleft Says:

If you have a great offensive line,Glennons your guy.He needs time to set his feet to throw accurately. He certainly is no scrambler.

  27. SteveK Says:

Glennon is better tha Freeman or griffin.

I wonder if Jameis would be looming over his shoulder of Glennon we’re here. Ala Fitznagic!

Go BUCS! 2019 will answer questions about QB and GM

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

I get the feelin Glennon’s gonna be one of these guys who after years of roamin around the league as a backup is gonna eventually be on a superbowl team. Laugh all you like. But the guy is making his rounds and learning from some of the best. He just keeps his mouth shut and packs bags. One day the old salty vet will step in and up..for somebody.

  29. SteveK Says:

    Mike Johnson,

Agree with you. Glennon just keeps his head down and works. Nothing flashy, but he could be come a winner down the road.

I never thought Glennon was a franchise QB, but it was clear that Glennon > Freeman during Free’s fall from grace. I only wish Buc Fans would acknowledge that Glennon was the BETTER option of the two.

Glennon best the Steelers on the road- hitting Louis Murphy.

Jameis has lost 12 straight on the road. What’s up w that?

  30. VFL98 Says:

Good for him, hope he does well. He is better than our backup.

  31. Tnoles Says:

    Tampa west

  32. Bucsfan77 Says:

Please stop with the term “the real fans”, if the root for the bucs they are real fans. However… they can still be *real fans” just not knowledgeable about the in and out of the game of football. So instead of saying “real fans” say something like “the fans that understands the game” it’s still a degrading term but doesn’t lump everyone into the one category.

  33. SteveK Says:

    BucsFan77,

Helluva point! We “true” fans are here commenting. Thanks! Everyone should get their say, and shame on folks saying they’re not “real” fans bc of a differing opinion.

I am a diehard Buccaneer Fan, and I want playoffs so damn bad! I am honing in on the performance of our GM and QB. Year 6 for Licht and year 5 for Winston- now or never! Can’t wait!

  34. Rod Munch Says:

Gruden clearly hates Carr, but I don’t know if Glennon is his type of guy either. But Gruden saying every QB is the new Favre or Rodgers, when he literally skipped on taking Rodgers (and then blamed the front office, who was literally his hand pick lackey Bruce Allen) always cracks me up.
