Report: GMC Will Return

February 22nd, 2019

Expected to return.

It seems one of the top defensive tackles of his generation, Bucs stud Gerald McCoy, will return for the 2019 season.

That’s the word from Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com.

So there you have it. A key member of the Bucs defense since 2010, GMC will make it a full decade with the Bucs if the report is accurate. And if the Bucs are going to sink that much cash into the position with two first-round draft picks playing defensive tackle, it seems highly unlikely the Bucs will draft another defensive tackle at No. 5 in April’s draft.

If left tackle Donovan Smith returns and GMC is staying put, Joe has but one question.

Can you say “Josh Allen?”

  1. BucsFIRE Says:

    Welcome back, Gerald #93

Good luck with Coach Arians & the new regime, and hopefully pushing for the playoffs.

  2. Jeffbuc Says:

[That’s a bit over the top, isn’t it? — Joe]

  3. Not there yet Says:

Lol welcome back Geraldine hahahaha. Every a new coach has to come in and learn it the hard way. We’ll have another mediocre defense this year, hopefully he can be taught not to get pushed all over the field in the run game finally in his tenth season

  4. BucAllNight Says:

Let’s go we can’t just THROW away good players no matter what the ARM CHAIR GM’s on this site think… Welcome Back Gerald Time To GRIND!!

Now go get the Honey Badger Jason!!!

  5. ncbucsfan Says:

The one-gap scheme Bowles will run plays to GMCs strength…..getting upfield!! He will have a 10-sack+ season finally!

  6. Robert Says:

I like him being happy all the time and he seems like a great guy………..but

thats not what I want at that position. I want someone with Sapp mentality. eat raw meat, take whatever they want

he has to go. maybe crabman could play DT

  7. BrianBucs Says:

I wonder if they reworked his contract?

  8. Bradentonbuc Says:

Allen is the guy. It would be great if Bosa fell but I doubt it. Neither one are available trade down

  9. ncbucsfan Says:

And yes BucAllNight….go get the Honey Badger Jason!!

  10. Bangkok Buc Says:

Does that mean he wont be re-structuring his contract?

  11. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

No way that licht could have talked to arians into this BS team he has contructed. Licht just throws 2 coaching staffs under the bus saying his players just need the right coach? This team is so many more players away than a $13 mil DT who wont play end and is satisfied with losing

  12. Buccernutter Says:

Does this mean we’re sticking with the 4-3 base? Could mean Kwon is staying. If we let Kwon go it’s gonna be

    Devin white

If Kwon stays it’s greedy Allen or trade down

  13. DooshLaRue Says:

Well, I was getting really excited for a new style defense.
Hopefully this is a false report.

  14. AlteredEgo Says:

Stay……..with restructure ?….where is Paul Harvey when you need him…..

  15. Loyaltotheend Says:

Bad move by Licht paying GMAC 13 million

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

Somebody go get tmax. He’s curled up in the alley with his vape pen and a bottle of Jameson rocking back and forth uncontrollably!!!

  17. 813bucboi Says:

did he say for how long?…1 year..2 years…hopefully at a restructured rate….joe may see allen but im thinking jawaan taylor after we trade down…hopefully we draft ed oliver so we’ll already have our replacement for GMC groomed and ready on the roster….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    Can I get a yipee?

    Didn’t think so….

  19. Bird Says:

I’m hoping that means on restructured deal.

I always thought he would give bucs discount. Let’s face it. He is a good guy. And he knows Bucs paid top dollar and he missed numerous games and his numbers have been average at times.

This means Desean Jackson is gone.

  20. Buccaneerscotty Says:

I love it! Happy your back McCoy

  21. Sunny Says:

Am I the only that just scrolled down to read tmax ??

  22. Bird Says:

Tmax in hospital with damn chest pains.

  23. sandwichman Says:

    @tmaxcon

    We are waiting…….lol

  24. unbelievable Says:

    lol bucsfanman

I can’t even write his name around here without being mod’d…

I’m sure he will show up sooner or later, I’m guessing with a very original take on the situation that we’ve never heard before.

  25. sandwichman Says:

    @Bucsfanman

    LMFAO

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Normally Joe waits to confirm this through his own sources. Did he do it this time?

  27. StoutGospel Says:

Here’s the best line of the entire GMC TBT story by Stroud….

Focus on the last line of that paragraph……LOLOL.

“While McCoy never doubted he would return to the Bucs in 2019 — playing at least one more season in Tampa Bay than Warren Sapp — there has been speculation that the salary cap-strapped team may either opt out of the deal, trade the six-time Pro Bowler or ask him to take a pay cut. None of that will happen, barring something unforeseen.”

Barring something unforeseen….??? Rick? Like you not having any idea what you’re talking about, and GMC is either traded in Indy, or Quinnen falls to #5 as “something unforeseen” occurs above the Bucs’ pick in the first 4 picks with say maybe 2 QB’s going Rick??! That kind of “unforeseen” Ricky-boy?

The tard. The dude makes the TBT story sound, like the fron t office called Rick ahead of time, asked him to come in for a sitdown with all the personnel after their evaluations….friggin’ ridiculous. Stroud DOES NOT HAVE the kind of access that he’s implying in the TBT story.

“None of that will happen barring something unforeseen”. LOL. lIke Stroud knowing what he’s talking about.

    Go Bucs!

  28. Lordcornelius Says:

    Hm

  29. StoutGospel Says:

    Hey @Bird…

You have a cell phone right?? Well, here’s a tip for all your headaches here, and to any others affected…

Your cell phone @Bird registers as a different IP address through your carrier. So, if you find…that you’re having difficulty with certain mood swings on this site, as many have found, simply switch over to your cell phone. Then switch back.

Wash, rinse, repeat. Success! Good luck 🙂

    Go Bucs!

  30. Mike in Mo Says:

Bringing GMC back guarantees that Devin White will be the name when the Bucs turn in their draft card for the #5 pick. Get used to it fellas.

  31. Tbbucs3 Says:

I think this is the right move….

But it does not take away the the criticisms of McCoy, he was simply mediocre last year and the apology to Big Ben was absolutely pathetic. Ben didn’t get respond because that’s not how they play football in Pittsburgh. Can’t make friends and be nice on the football field.

  32. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Wow. A golden opportunity to free up 13 million and move on from an aged player with zero aggression/ killer instinct. I guess Licht Weight is still around…so surprising this is not.

  33. Alstott up the gut Says:

I am definitely happy GMC will return….. BUT, please rework his contract. Extend him another couple of years but hopefully McCoy will help the Bucs save some cap space for this offseason.

  34. bucsdelight Says:

Good! Regardless of what armchair GMs here say, McCoy is one of the best at his position.

  35. Phil Says:

What a great way to ruin the start of the weekend.

  36. StoutGospel Says:

    #Cat-is-out-of-the-bag

    🙂 🙂

  37. Bruce Gigolo Says:

ORRRRRRRR this could just be Licht trying to get something out of Gerald as in a draft pick. If news comes out that we will release him why would teams consider trading a draft pick when you can just try your luck and see if he signs with that said team after his release.. but what do i know?

  38. AlteredEgo Says:

    Maybe the G’Boyz will get a twofer….2 years 13 million ….so 6.5 million in 2019
Wait ’till BA see’s this QB draft class @ the combine after watching Jameis starting 1 April

  39. Dewey Selmon Says:

Name a player who has had more head coaches all with the same team? I hope he ends up in the playoffs with the Bucs. I’m cool with it and ready to move evaluate the rest of the team for free agency and the draft. When we draft Devin White do you think Alstott will let him wear his number?

  40. Buccernutter Says:

4 different professional head coaching regimes think McCoy is good enough to pay top dollar for.

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    Tmax is such an idiot.

It’s official. That guy knows less than everyone. Realist is close.

The 2019 season will prove to real bucs fans that realist doesn’t know ****

  41. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

The 100 million dollar man ( and counting ). He may bypass Sam Bradford’s career robbery record yet!

  42. Yeogib Says:

I like how you credit Alper from PFT even though he credits Stroud for reporting it. This BS with you guys and the media is ridiculous.

  43. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Bucsfanman Says:

Somebody go get tmax. He’s curled up in the alley with his vape pen and a bottle of Jameson rocking back and forth uncontrollably!!!
    ___________________________________________

with his Joker doll that Geraldini broke 🙂

  44. Lord Cornelius Says:

If we did land Josh Allen that’d be an interesting front 7

    OLB/DE-Josh Allen/Beckwith?
    LDE-JPP/Gholston
    NT-Vita Vea/?
    RDE-McCoy/?
    OLB/DE-Nassib/Spence?

    ILBs-Lavonte & Kwon?

  45. StoutGospel Says:

    @Yeogib….yes it IS ridiculous indeed!

@Bruce….you are absolutely on to it sir! Forest through the trees ladies! Well done Bruce.

    🙂

    Go Bucs!

  46. GhostofSchiano Says:

    Quick someone check on Tmaxcon.

  47. Dewey Selmon Says:

Jussie Smollette owes Robert Kraft a beer for taking the heat off him.

  48. BucsFIRE Says:

    Dewey Selmon Says:
“I hope he ends up in the playoffs with the Bucs. I’m cool with it.”

    ————-

    Same here, Dewey.
Would love to see it for #93.

  49. GhostofSchiano Says:

I wonder what new dance moves he will unveil on the sidelines like he did in ATL.

The McIcecream shuffle? or the Cancer93 boogie?

  50. BucDan Says:

Great. Glad to have him back.

Now we can move forward with being focused on how to address the rest of the roster/salary cap.

  51. AwShbucs Says:

Welp the 2019 season is officially over if we’re going to be dumping such a large amount of the salary cap to a washed up has been who’d never been to the playoffs.

  52. Jean Lafitte Says:

Now GMAC with his 13 mil can watch his teammate JPP get 16 to 17 sacks this season. We don’t need expensive spectators.

    6 sacks = 2.1 million a sack

16 total tackles = less than 1 pathetic tackle per game

1 pass deflected = after 90% of the snaps every game he couldn’t muster more than 1 deflected pass the entire season.

I hope that was an anomaly because if he slides further back from those numbers this season we wasted an opportunity to improve. We could essentially pay the salary for 2 younger DT’s to practically get around the same production.

  53. bucsfaninchina Says:

    lol @ the overreactions

With paying GMC 13 mil I have a strong feeling Licht is about to dump a whole lotta folks out onto the street to make some of that cap space

  54. BucsFIRE Says:

    AwShbucs Says:
“Welp the 2019 season is officially over”

    —–

    LOL

  55. Lord Cornelius Says:

This has to mean we’re for sure moving on from Djax, and likely to move on from Kwon and/or Donavon Smith. Maybe Lavonte even.

Whatever. Prove the fan base wrong for once Licht & Company.

  56. Lord Cornelius Says:

I’d love to see McCoy win a SB and have 4 sacks in it – just to see Tmax’s head explode and him re-evaluate his entire life and time on JBF lol.

Not saying that as a McCoy supporter even. Just as a Bucs fan who would love to see how that played out on here.

  57. ncbucsfan Says:

Notice that Tyrann Mathieu tweeted “This is a win”, in regards to an article stating Gerald McCoy is coming back! I have a sneaky suspicion the Honey Badger WILL be a Buc next season and already has Arians/Lichts word on a contract.

With keeping GMC and reportedly DeSean Jackson as well, it doesn’t look good for Kwon, Hump, or maybe Donovan……I’d guess Hump! It also means we are gunning for it ALL this year! Ifnit fails miserably, they’re all leaving and 2020 will leave us with TONS of cap space!

    LETS F**KING GO BUCCANEERS!!!!

  58. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Does this mean he’s returning at his previously set salary or is there still possibility of restructuring?

  59. Jonzey Says:

Good job glad to see we still have GMC

  60. Dre Says:

Oh geez … he’s gonna run another coach out of Tampa … joe your so happy right now …. only idiots think GMC is talented …. you got to be the only local media to think this guy is worth the money he’s getting ….. your intel on bucs players is as good as Michael Clayton’s hands

  61. Dre Says:

You guys sound so stupid … trades, evaluations etc … GMC is garbage

  62. Old School Athlete Says:

Man, I hope this is true. I’m a huge GMC fan. Never understood the the hate. The guy has done everything in his power to stop the losing, but he’s just one guy.
The worst thing you can say about him is that he helps guys up. Yes, he helps guys up…five seconds after he plants them like a cheap geranium.
NC bucsfan, I hope you are correct. Thank would be a ideal scenario.
Dewey, I think Joe Thomas in Cleveland played for several more. Totally agree with everything you said, though.

  63. Defense Rules Says:

I’m not seeing what you’re seeing I guess Joe. I read through Rick Stroud’s piece “Why Gerald McCoy will return for a 10th season with the Bucs” and I saw nothing but pure speculation on Stroud’s part. Zero confirmation from anyone. What really baffles me is Stroud’s conclusion … “there has been speculation that the salary cap-strapped team may either opt out of the deal, trade the six-time Pro Bowler or ask him to take a pay cut. None of that will happen, barring something unforeseen.”

So Stroud is telling us that GMC will not only come back, but that he’ll be making $13 mil when he does? Not a lick of substantiation or evidence. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he’s coming back, but ONLY IF there’s a pay cut to around $8 mil involved. That $5 mil could very well be the difference in signing a quality MLB, CB or S or not.

And the fact that the Rams signed Suh to a $14.5 mil contract is irrelevant IMO. Rams played in the Super Bowl. Bucs haven’t even sniffed the playoffs in 10-plus years.

  64. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t like this move from a leadership standpoint. Really don’t like it from a football perspective either. Not enough bang for the buck with Gerald.

His production is trending downward & he doesn’t bring any needed intangibles(except maybe work ethic) to the table.

He getting paid to be our captain and has done a awful job on that reguard.

Seemed like a easy decision to me. But I’ll dust off my McCoy jersey and support it if they think this will work.

  65. TrollSlayer Says:

somewhere tmaxcon is crying his eyes out

  66. StoutGospel Says:

    @DR….

I wrote the EXACT same thing about an hour ago about Stroud’s “something unforeseen” comment, and the piece at length. But @Joes…well, they’re having themselves a moment! 🙂 If and when it gets posted, take a peek at it! 🙂 Stroud’s a fool, pullin Slapaport stuff.

Great minds think alike, my brotha!!

    🙂

    Go Bucs!

  67. JimmyJack Says:

Defense Rules……Stoud say McCoy will return. He says so matter of factly. He also says that Bruce has reviewed his film and sees him a a fit on his team. It’s in the 2nd paragraph.
He didn’t use and ifs or buts.

  68. JimmyJack Says:

But he did not list any sources. You are right on that. But he shouldn’t need to list sources if you trust his word and first-hand knowledge.

  69. Hodad Says:

Let’s resign Kwon, give 14 million to Smith, keep the doll playing softie GMC, and see if we can finish 6-10 next year! Go Bucs!

  70. Loyaltotheend Says:

No credit to Stroud? Come on Joes stay classy

  71. Loyaltotheend Says:

Say what you want about Stroud but at least his podcast comes out on time unlike the ones on JBF

  72. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yeah @DR I have to agree with @JimmyJack.

He’s not citing sources but he had to have been leaked something.

“Bucs coach Bruce Arians and his staff have evaluated McCoy’s performance and believe he will be a good fit in the 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.”

If that’s not true he’s really putting his integrity on the line by stating so. Don’t think he’d be that dumb.

  73. cbell96825 Says:

This just tells me that djax as well as a few other over priced vets will be gone.

  74. JimmyJack Says:

Guys look at that picture. I mean, my God, doesn’t Gerald look good in blue?

I don’t know what type of Awhole would wear blue for a Bucs press conference but there no denying he looks as good as a picket Ace wearing that color.

  75. BucsFIRE Says:

^ Cam Newton wears blue to his press conferences……

and green, and red, and orange, and purple, and teal, and black, and tan……

  76. StoutGospel Says:

For SOOO many out here….find sand, insert head.

    (Minus @Bruce and @DR).

Forest thru the trees ladies!! Cuz BA wants to have a sitdiwn with DJax right…”loves his weapons” on the team. “We’re loaded”. Neahhhh…no politicking in DJax value, much less any others right?!? Neah.

    Go Bucs!

  77. Pryda30.... sec 147 Says:

I hear you Joe…Josh Allen!!!! I’d love it if he came to TB but I highly doubt he falls to 5 we might have to go up to 4 to get him. I’m in the trading down group

  78. Buc believer Says:

Golly Gee wilikers more mediocrity for the up coming season. But hey we can all gather round the camp fire and sing Kum Ba Ya…. right Gerald??? Aka the biggest push over and biggest pansy arse player in league history.

  79. StoutGospel Says:

    1:28pm @DR…like I was saying.

    Go Bucs!

  80. Bucsfanman Says:

Guys, I think we might of lost tmax! I cannot believe he hasn’t chimed in yet, even if it is smoke and mirrors.

  81. The Real Malloy Says:

    Geez, nothing from Tmax?

As much as he bothers me, I’m kind of concerned. This might have put him over the edge and landed him in the funny farm.

  82. ncbucsfan Says:

Some of you Bucs fans are just idiots!!! If you cut GMC because of his $13 million price tag….who do you replace him with? You save the money, sure, but who do you spend it on? And IF you find that person, who says he wants and will sign with the Bucs? You are immediately WORSE at that position!!! Sure, you may have more money for free agents, but you can’t guarantee ANYONE will signnwith you, especially when more teams have more money and a better team/record than us. And don’t give me that crap that all of these defensive lineman in college are just as good……they’re not….period!! Quinnen Williams may be but that’s about it. Some may be in the future but BA clearly stated we have one goal: “to put a f**kin ring on our finger”, and you dont do that stashing money and cutting talent!!! You guys are so used to the Bucs freakin losing and having $70 million in cap space to spend on bogus free agents yesr in and year out that you’d be willing to become a worse team than on the field in order to say ” but we got money for so and so in free agency…..then said FA flops!! I’m sick of ya’ll bottom-thinking fans! Post something positive and a solution, not the typical complaining….SHUT UP!!

close…. overloading my dab rig trying to decide what strip joint has the best preachers daughters working for an afternoon of pouting, lap dances and jameson….

  84. Buc believer Says:

The only people that would say this fake little wussy player is a stud is Joe and Gerald’s wife

  85. Rod Munch Says:

GGGRRRRRR!!!!!! BUT HE READS COMIC BOOKS!!!!! GGGGRRRRRRR!!!!! IM SO ANGRY!!!!!!

  86. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- LMAO! And here I thought that was a normal Friday night for you!

  87. BigMacAttack Says:

I like this after being down on McCoy for a few years. Hopefully Licht will rework the numbers through a contract extension and create cap space. Very doable. If these players want to win, they all need to be smart about their salaries so there is room to fill a few holes in free agency. Tom Brady has done this and look at all of his rings. Be smart guys. Winning pays dividends and more in the long term.

  88. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

you know people only really go to strip clubs for the prime rib

  89. tmaxcon Says:

    ncbucsfan

you have zero credibility sir…. you thought mike glennon was an nfl quarterback…. cancer93 is garbage and bringing him back has just secured another basement title…. 4-12

  90. tmaxcon Says:

    Lord Cornelius Says:
    February 22nd, 2019 at 2:15 pm

I’d love to see McCoy win a SB and have 4 sacks in it – just to see Tmax’s head explode and him re-evaluate his entire life and time on JBF lol.

he barleyt gets 4 sacks a season how is he going to get 4 in one game…

how many double digit sack games does tinker bell have in his career 6 or 7 in ten years? laughable.

  91. William Walls Says:

    @Tmax – ROFL!

    @RickStroud – “barring something unforeseen” = ‘unless I’m wrong’

  92. rrsrq Says:

Heard on Sirius XM radio host today who played against GMC stating how GMC is a nice guy before the snap, kind of a conversationalist, but when the ball is snapped he is going 200%. This is what the guys in the trenches say about him, most Bucs fans probably can’t name more than three or four better DTs in the league who has been doing it as long as GMC. Gene Atkins and Suh has been in the league for a minute, Rankins and Donald not as long, I’ll wait for other elite DTs

  93. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

It’s always surprised me that people hold McCoy’s pleasant personality against him.

Remember the old cartoon where the 2 enemies greet each other at the start of the day, at the timeclock…..

    “Mornin Bob……
    “Mornin Fred…..

And then they beat the crap out of each other in the field of play.

Nothing wrong with it. McCoy is class, and has given his heart and soul to this team for 9 years.

  94. Reach87 Says:

Good player, great person and team mate. If true glad to have him (hopefully restructured so we can get better players or keep other good ones. Go Bucs!

  95. Rod Munch Says:

There’s lots of morons here that think you need to be mean to be any good… then those same dolts are the first to be offended if someone uses language they don’t approve of. It’s why the GMC haters are fake news.

  96. tmaxcon Says:

it’s not about being mean….. it’s about results and playing 4 qtrs and cancer93 has failed miserably at both….SCOREBOARD

  97. Defense Rules Says:

@Lord C … “If that’s not true he’s really putting his integrity on the line by stating so. Don’t think he’d be that dumb.” Like no one in the media has ever ‘guessed’ wrong before or listened to the wrong ‘source’ LC? Stroud may very well have been fed info that GMC won’t be cut, BUT it’s the second part of his statement that I’m not at all certain is true … that GMC will NOT take a pay cut. That kind of info is pretty tightly held in most large companies, and the Bucs surely qualify there.

I’ve said before that I hope GMC does come back for 2019, but NOT at the $13 mil pricetag. There are so many ‘What Ifs’ involved in this Bucs restructuring scenario that it’s mind-boggling. But the one thing that just about everyone can agree on I would hope is that we NEED to increase our salary CAP space (save $$$) in order to be able to do much of anything in FA. Also, you can never have enough quality starters and you can never have enough depth. And that takes $$$ as we both know.

  98. adam from ny Says:

they’re just gonna dump all the dead weight around him…gholston, beau, etc

  99. Chris K Says:

It amazes me how one player who makes up 1/53rd of an NFL roster can be blamed by so many idiots (tmaxipad) for a franchise losing. Especially when that same player has been considered one of the best at his position by his peers for a decade now. But hey, let’s all take the word of maxipad! He knows way more than NFL people in the know. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  100. c-spann Says:

we need to cut him, his salary does not match the performance. it would be different if he was an impact player. He never makes plays when it counts. we can draft his replacement. ed oliver will there at 5.

  101. BucEmUp 7 Says:

    I hope it’s for a restructured contract

  102. Getaclue Says:

It’s a freaking opinion article. So tired of people selling opinion articles as actual factual reports

  103. Jean Lafitte Says:

both Nassib and Vea outperformed GMC in half as many games. for less $$$$

  104. stvcl Says:

Worst news I read today. Damn…let him go already. It’s not like he’s Alstott and deserves to retire as a Buccaneer. Cut your losses Licht, let him walk and use that 13 mil somewhere else.

  105. BucNole Says:

Josh Allen will NOT be there at 5
Take the LSU LB or trade down and BPA

  106. ATrain Says:

    Hahah. 10 sacks for GMC

    No way

13 million for 4 sacks and 15 tackles All season

  107. bucs4ya Says:

    Damn damn damn!!

  108. Iron Wombat Says:

4 different professional head coaching regimes think McCoy is good enough to pay top dollar for.
    ——————————-

3 have been fired never to be head coaches again. 2 of those coaches put some of the worst defenses in the nfl.

  109. Ptwalk Says:

I believe McCoy is learning from JPP and this might be his best season. He finally has his Simeon Rice.

  110. BigMacAttack Says:

    Defense Rules, I agree 💯.
PTwalk, I also that this was McCoy’s best season. I criticized McCoy for a long time and he turned it around this season, played through injury too. I’m fan but not at $13 mil. He’s been paid very well, almost too well for several years.

  111. cmurda Says:

    @ncbucsfan

Liking the passion from you. That’s what I’m talking about. Honestly with GMC, I understand maybe trying to get him locked up for less or possibly a restructure. Cutting him? That would be absolutely insane. A fireable offens to Licht. I’m glad he’s the GM and not the haters. We would have no QB, no DT, and a lot of cash to overpay bad free agents.

I’d rather pull the plug a year early, as a yr late.

$13M is a steep price to roll the dice, when this draft class is loaded at DT & cap space is limited.

  113. DB55 Says:

Personally I sign Grady Jarret to a 13-15mil deal. If we’re lucky!

McCoy and Suh gutted the market for DTs; they got every team paying 16 mil for a 3tech. Isn’t Donald making 20? Now the market is set at 16-20 mil for a decent 3tech. Kawann Short makes 16m so McCoy at 13m seems like a steal 🤮 but know this, you ain’t getting much out of mccoy and drafting Q Williams sets you up for 10 years. Then we’ll have a stud who looks for double teams to destroy as if his personal fetish. And a big ass Samoan who, so far, can’t play in the heat but is a monster in cold weather games. 🤔

Back to Grady Jarrett, he’s only 25-26 years old and is complete money in the trenches.

He doesn’t give up first downs on 3rd & short or TDs in the redzone inside the 3 yard line.

27 solos vs 17 solo tackles, 6 sacks each.

Steadily getting better each year and we can steal a key cog from a division rival but…

The falcons have plenty of money to re-sign their star players, cut or trade old expensive players and replace them with younger cheaper talent that they drafted in last year’s draft but they didn’t play much bc, you know, they were L E A R N I N G!

    BUT WTF DO WE KNOW?

  114. Go Bucs 73 Says:

Yeah! 13 million for 18 tackles, what a bargain!!! McCottoncandy is a mentally week crybaby. He is nice to the media so they all kiss his ass and fawn all the dude. It’s so transparent.

  115. ElioT Says:

I think this is all posturing to help enhance some trade value.

Also, if they can somehow restructure McCoy’s deal, that adds even more value for what I hope the eventual trade before or during the draft. (3 years, $21 million w/$14 million guaranteed?)

Arians will bring in a couple more “refuse to lose” football players in FA to help JPP take over the locker room.

When the offseason workouts start, BA and the rest of the coaching staff will be able to identify why McCoy needs to go and demand Licht get’s a trade done.

McCoy is not worth anywhere close to $13/year especially on a cash strapped team.

With all the turnover and disappointment this franchise has fostered over the last decade, who is the COMMON DENOMINATOR?

= Gerald McCoy, Captain of the USS Loserville & Field General of the Den of Depression.

His weak mentality has been a constant and he’s been the leader of some of the most pathetic defenses ever seen.

We’re not asking him to be Sapp, no one can replicate his fierce leadership. But no one can argue the FACT that when the going gets tough (and it’s gotten tough a lot) McCoy has never stepped up and done anything about it.

I’m not a McCoy hater, I just know what I see, and his time should be over in Tampa. I think a change of scenery would do him good as well, he deserves to experience some winning before he hangs up his cleats.

    • Good athlete? Yes
    • Good person? Yes, quirks aside, he’s a good man
    • Impact football player, No
    • Leader of men? Absolutely Not

Please Bucs, find a way to send McCoy away for some compensation, remove the losing mentality from this team.

  116. Dave Says:

I still don’t get why they can’t try to restructure his deal.
