Jameis Not Sweating DJax Exit

February 1st, 2019

QB talks waving goodbye.

In recent days if not weeks, all Bucs fans have heard about from national talking heads is how rough poor DeSean Jackson has it trying to work with America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, and that Jackson is pining to play in Los Angeles.

So is Jameis losing sleep thinking of being without Jackson on the roster?

In an interview from radio row at the World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta today, Jameis’ reaction could be summed up in one word.

Nope.

Jameis appeared on “Schein on Sports” heard exclusively on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio. Asked by popular sports radio and television host Adam Schein if Jameis was “concerned” that Jackson may not be on the roster next year, Jameis basically replied with a verbal wave of goodbye to Jackson, stopping short of saying, hit the road, Jack.

“No, I’m not concerned about DJax not being there,” Jameis said. “We know he is a tremendous talent. I want to go out there with DeSean Jackson but at the end of the day, this is a business and DeSean is a superstar. And wherever the superstar wants to be, that’s where the superstar is going to go.”

Jameis was speaking sort of with a newfound confidence Joe hasn’t heard from him in a while. It almost sounds like Jameis has a renewed energy with the hiring of Arians, and reading between the lines, Jameis was basically telling Jackson, get out of my locker room if you don’t want to play ball.

Perhaps former Bucs coach Dirk Koetter’s constant public slurping of Jackson may have backfired on his quarterback’s confidence. Joe simply cannot imagine Jameis saying this about Jackson before he heard the words coming out of Jameis’ mouth today.

It funny how Jameis literally has chemistry with every receiver on the roster except “the superstar”…

    See ya later Mesean

  2. AlteredEgo Says:

Remember early last season when it was “reported” I think it was Monken made a statement to the press reminding DJax….he was here for the money or something like that….meaning you took the money now PLAY like we ask !…Oh well another young arrogant rich jock…soon enough you’ll be in the real world for the first time in your life and we’ll then find out just what kind “superstar” you are and just how gives a phuck about you ….

  3. Nick Says:

Jameis is and has always been about “TEAM” DJax is and will always be about self and he is a clown, and has always been.

    BYE BYE !!!

  4. Bruce Arians is the QB Whisperer Says:

Translation: DJax you’re a soft ass punk ass bi*^%

  5. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Good for Jameis

  6. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

DeSean is NOT a superstar! Never has been and never will be. He is a one trick pony and that better float right into his arms or he ain’t going after it nor fighting for it.

  7. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

Good for the young man. Go Bucs.

  8. catcard202 Says:

The Superstar phrasings were a left handed complement. Read between the lines.

  9. BucFan3 Says:

Jameis can make a superstar out of anyone but a diva. Remember Kelvin Benjamin, or what he does with every single TE. Jameis can make Freddie Martino look equally as talented as D-Jax. Bye bye Diva Jackson!

  10. Dom / Licht ? Says:

    Another bad move by Licht!

  11. WalkdaPlank Says:

Although I do agree with the DJax criticism, I can’t wait for him to finally be cut loose so Joe can find the next thing to talk about. Hopefully a new running back.

  12. westernbuc Says:

    “Public slurping” Jesus.

Koetter was a players coach. He never threw guys under the bus and kept it in-house. I’ll tell you what really hurts a QBs confidence: Missing the first 3 games watching the backup tear it up and DJax publicly demanding you stay on the bench.

Oh, and friendly reminder: if the Glazers had their way, they’d have Gruden. Think that had any effect on this teams confidence?

Sick of everyone burying Koetter. As of now, he’s the 3rd best coach in team history and he just got a fantastic job in Atlanta.

  13. Ris_Buc Says:

Well done. I don’t think the superstar thing was a backhanded compliment . I thought it was a respectful way of saying. “I ain’t got no worries”.

  14. JA Says:

DeSean Jackson has played 11 years in the NFL. In that time span this “great” receiver has made three pro bowls (all with Philly) and has never made all-pro—albeit he made “me-pro” all eleven years and the “poor me pro bowl” on nine occasions. He once went for an arm-extension-under-pressure- surgery but the doctor said there was no cure for those that couldn’t spell TEAM!

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

Great job Jameis! BA has a tough task ahead. He not only had to win games but he has to win back the fans. Buc fans are sick of losing and tired of the excuses. Keeping Djax is a huge mistake on the PR front. There isn’t one Coach in the NFL that can get MeJax to work and practice hard, not even BB. I can’t see why anyone would want to deal with his crap. The right move here is to cut him, release him from further obligation and do it now. It’s a distraction, even in the off-season. The conversation needs to change and the longer this clown is a Buc, the more it will be about him instead of the team.

  16. Howard Cosell Says:

Koetter’s constant public slurping of Jackson

Joe you held it together great up until this line lmao

What number does Hump wear next year? lol

  22. Alanbucsfan Says:

Fox Sports has an interview between M Vick and Jameis

translation: Jameis knows DJax is talented, “keeps it real” and owns that he needs to improve his connection with DJax, which respected coaches should accomplish.
Jameis also knows his OLine sucks- he was polite, but not hard to read…

  23. Joe in Michigan Says:

Tony Dungy’s record as an NFL coach was 139-69, with a winning percentage of .668, which 13th all time. 13th out of 180 coaches on the list, that puts Coach Dungy in the top 92%. I understand the person who calls him a “clown” is a troll who gets their jollies out of getting people riled up, but I just wanted to put some facts to the debate.

  24. Jeffbuc Says:

Tmaxx remind us again what MeSean Jackson has won. Just curious since we wouldn’t know what a superstar who is fixing to be release or traded while under contract for the second time in his career. What has he won. Besides the lottery with the bucs

  25. TampaTown Says:

Love it Joe! Jameis basically saying GTFO of the locker room! That’s what we need, more toughness, less willingness to put up with BS, just like the old days. Also seems that Jameis, like Rocky, may have come out of his funk with the eye of the tiger. I cant wait for opening day!

  26. El Buco Realisto Says:

Hard to say “GTFO” when your not allowed in the locker room for being suspended by the league!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  27. Pickgrin Says:

“Dirk Koetter’s constant public slurping of Jackson”

Wow – nice one Joe! Way to slip that visual in there all sly and innocent like… LOL

“DeSean is a superstar. And wherever the superstar wants to be, that’s where the superstar is going to go.”

Since it was radio – the quote almost comes off as complimentary. Had it been on video – we probably would have seen Winston doing finger “air quotes” every time he used the word “superstar”. LOL

  28. Jon Says:

Tmax a troll and always will be. You a Rams fan or a Pats fan this year?

  29. Wesley Says:

    Get rid of this cancer.

  30. Fire Light Says:

Bye MeJax. Worst player by far in the NFL.

  31. Buc4evr Says:

Joe please leave DJax in the past. We don’t care about him, where he wants to go, or about how he hates playing with Jameis. He is no longer wanted or needed in Tampa. Bye Felicia.

  32. Bad Eric Says:

There wouldn’t be a problem to begin with if we had a QB that can throw an accurate ball longer than 30 yards and not need to have arms like Mutumbo. Imagine being a deep threat without a qb that can hit you, anyone would be just as mad.
Might as well blame him for turning the ball over more than anyone since he was drafted. Makes just as much sense.

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Dolphins expected to cut Ryan Tannehill. Interesting option for backup? He’s already got a home here in Florida…

…they never gave him much to work with in Miami.

  34. Bird Says:

Joes constant public slurping of America’s quarterback , Jameis Winston

Is it me or is it just really getting out of control here ?
    Very creepy

  35. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

DJax is the type of guy you work with who thinks they are the next CEO when they can’t even show up to work on time let alone do their simple job. Try to catch a difficult pass DJax or be someone that care about the game. It’s as simple as that.

  36. Jean Lafitte Says:

I thought by now it was unanimous, hasta la vista DJax.

Ok, that finally laid this horse to rest

  37. Doctor_berto Says:

Mesean needs to go. We need more Evans and Howard who are both All-Pro talents. Arians and Leftwich should be able to get them the ball plenty. Godwin needs to cut down on the drops and fumbles but it seems like that is a nerves thing with him. Hopefully we can resign Humphries for a reasonable amount as well.

  38. Matt from BC Says:

I’m reading this website less and less because of tmaxcon. This is pathetic Joe, guy is a punk and it’s getting old. This is supposed to be a FAN site. Don’t care if the Glazers are losers and GMC is a loser and we are all losers. Get over it! Let us be idiots and cheer for OUR losers. I’m tired of reading the same comments over and over. I’m done!

  39. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

No Desean Jackson = No 2020 Super Bowl

  40. Darin Says:

    Touch down
Jameis choice of “superstar” was basically a shot at djax. Gota learn to read into things. These guys for the most part wont calll guys what they want to in the media. Diva or selfish ahole could be a few words he wanted to say. This is Jameis knowing its his team now. Thank goodness for Arians. Now these guys know their wont be a head coach listening to their whining about other players. A real HC. Show up and work. Leave your feelings at the bank.
    Is Djax Tmax? Hmmmm.

  41. BucsFIRE Says:

    JOE says
“Jameis was basically telling Jackson, get out of my locker room if you don’t want to play ball.”

    #############

    EXACTLY.
    GET the F out.

  42. Destinjohnny Says:

He can’t get him the ball anyway
    Mute point

  43. Widerightandleft Says:

Jameis does not throw a good vertical deep ball.Deep crossing routes ,great!Deep to the sidelines and short across the middle great. His inaccuracy at times is due to being pressured on nearly every play.Straighten out the o line and then evaluate Jameis.

  44. Max Says:

“Superstar” is a code word for DIVA. Go ahead swap the words and this will make plenty of sense.

  45. BringBucsBack Says:

Jackson’s on-the-field effort and negativity are as unforgivable as #3’s inability to hit MeJack deep. MeSean must go or increase his effort here for less money which, we know isn’t happening.

Glad #3 has had his seemingly fragile confidence rebuilt but, if he is going to throw shade at one of the greatest deep-threats in league history, he sure better be honing his deep-ball skills! MeJackwagon will move on and consistently catch the long-ball from another QB, as he has done with EVERY QB other than #3!
