Bucs Have Lots To Prove With Current Roster; McCoy Coming Back

February 25th, 2019

Year No. 10 of the Gerald McCoy era and roster building are among the many things on the mind of host Justin “The Commish” Pawlowski on today’s Bucs Uncensored. It’s always a fun podcast. Listen above to the podcast or subscribe along with many thousands of Bucs fans on iTunes right here, or at Podbean.com. Justin’s work is not influenced by JoeBucsFan.com. I’ll tell you what doesn’t make a real fan – one who hand delivers a oil painting to the coach, leads a chant for the GM all draft night (as if he’s some kind of hero), yet is screaming for their heads just a few months later (and cheering when they get fired).

Arians wants to win now, not rebuild. He wants the best players on the field NOW! $13 million or not, GMC is the best or at least top two DT we have on this roster. You cut him, who do you replace him with? Are they better? I’ll answer both questions: Who knows and NO (unless its Quinnen Williams, who we can’t get at #5). But….his salary is cap-friendly to a team with loads of money and need (Jets, 49ers) that could offer a trade and take his contract that would allow them to walk away if he doesn’t help them. We don’t know!! We do have a few more contracts that we can dump (Allen, Gholston, Unrein, all our DT depth) along with Djax still being tradable at this moment ($11 million) that could get us to about $40 mil under the cap while keeping GMC. We can afford 3-4 quality free agents with that and sign our draft picks. The draft happens to be loaded at a position (Dline) that we could replenish our depth with if we made those cuts stated above.

    You are 1,000% right

    What a joke

Commish, your logic is simple common sense concerning GMAC. Thanks for bringing us back to earth.

All this discussion about how we are going to a 3-4 is just noise at this time. The only thing I have heard so far from Arians or Bowles is that we are going to shape our defense around our existing personnel. The only “base” that we are going to have is to become an attacking, 1-gap defense.

Keeping GMAC at $13 is a business decision as well as a football decision. It says to me that he will line up frequently enough, wherever, and he will contribute at least enough to justify his price in the Buc’s overall estimation. While we might be transitioning to a 3-4 this upcoming season in a “hybrid” scheme, the real discussion concerning the 3-4 base is a year too early.

    Hawaiian on the money !!

Last time I checked or heard no teams where calling commish to be a GM or talent evaluator. I put my trust and money on the DC and head coach who I think can evaluate players better than commish. They must still think GMC has what it takes and still one of best in position to keep him.

Funny how NFL have spoken week of McCoy except some of our fans and Beckles who thinks he is never wrong.

Can someone please show me where our coaches (not media ) said we are a 3-4 base defense ?????
