Wake-up Call Coming

January 10th, 2019

Recalls encounter.

New Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians may be a quarterback whisperer, but that doesn’t mean he won’t square up on an offensive lineman.

On his impressive resume, Arians spent five years as Steelers offensive coordinator (2007-2011), winning a Super Bowl ring there. Actually, it was right here in Tampa when the Steelers beat the Cardinals at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

It was as the leader of the Steelers’ offense that Arians one day decided to get in Steelers right tackle Willie Colon’s grill for dragging arse in walk-throughs.

You can view the video below courtesy of Barstool Sports but CAUTION. The video contains Not Safe For Work (NSFW) language. So you better put on your headphones or at least make sure your boss or any children are not around.

Let’s put it this way, Joe has a sense quite a few underperforming Bucs players are going to get one helluva wake-up call. Joe can think of one offensive lineman who may just get an earful.

  1. German Buc Says:

    Exactly what my doctor prescribed!

  2. Bob in Valrico Says:

Very interesting. Only problem is there are no Pro Bowlers on the O-line to
compare to. Maybe Jason Licht needs a speech too.

  3. Mord Says:

    Nice.

Now looking forward to an article that will make me stop scratching my head and wincing at the words: “Offensive Coordinator: Byron Leftwich”

  4. SoftastissueMccoy93 Says:

I remember some years back after the Bucs blew a big lead against the Redskins, Mccoy tells the media that everyone is mad at practice, and he want everyone to get back to having fun.

  5. BucEmUp Says:

This may be what donavan smith needs. Arians may get the most out of him. Hes got the strenghth, size etc just needs to be sharpened. and give 100% effort. I dunno though Dsmith is lazy

  6. Jonzey Says:

I think Leftwich is going to do a great job I think a QB is the best OC due to knowing every position on offense.

  7. BucEmUp Says:

Mord bruce said he’ll be on the mic influencing the calls with byron the entire time

  8. adam from ny Says:

BA might have to tear 5 new A-holes on that O-line… #FACTS

  9. Buc_The_World Says:

It doesn’t matter how many a-holes he has to tear at least we know he won’t tolerate BS unlike the last two head coaches.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

    A-C-C-O-U-N-T-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y!

Definition: A word we have not seen in these parts for some time.

  11. Buc believer Says:

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see what Bruce would have done to that soft arse McCoy in Atlanta joking and celebrating on the sidelines with us losing the game! I hope that little freeking beatch DOES scone back just so we can see Bruce tear her a new one!!!

  12. Not there yet Says:

If this is what your 4th year starting left tackle Donovan Smith needs, the most important position on the line then get him outta here

  13. Mark2001 Says:

Why the need for caution? Isn’t that how men in a bone breaking sport normally talk? I’d hope so.

  14. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Yeah Desean Jackson is getting cut LOL

    😂

  15. BucFan3 Says:

Can today be OTAs?! DeSean Jackson is as good as gone. Exactly what’s needed in Tampa Bay. Go BA!

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

That, my friends, is what coaching is all about…..getting the best out of your players…..
We have several players on the borderline and Arians can make them better.

  17. Architek Says:

I can only imagine what the OL and DL pansies are gonna think (D Smith McCoy, Benenoch)

  18. Bobby M. Says:

IF….BA applies that attitude to Winston, I think Winston will make some strides. Winston must be held accountable and for whatever reason he seems to respond best when someone gets in his a$$.

  19. TexBuc Says:

And now it begins……Bruce is COMING!

  20. BucFamous Says:

Awesome. D-Jax and Grimes better run away from this team because their bush league BS won’t fly next year.

  21. Owlykat Says:

Accountability is the key to turning around the Bucs losing culture. Under Dungy every player knew they had to follow every instruction from Dungy or he would cut them. That turned around the losing culture in just six months. Every Buc’s player is going to know the same with Arians, thank goodness, and he won’t be afraid to tongue lash them right when it happens. No loafing, no taking plays off. This is exactly what this team needs!

  22. TexBuc Says:

    Bobby

Winston has openly asked to be coached hard since he has been a Buc.

  23. JJV Says:

In Bruce we trust. Finally, a leader who will instantly demand respect to this team and make the entire community proud to be Bucs fans. The culture he will bring is going to be something special. He reminds me so much of General Patton in so many ways. Thanks Bruce. Go Bucs!

  24. Pierce Says:

    That’s awesome!

  25. Etzel Says:

Something tells me that this particular OL you are referencing will not handle this type of coaching well.

  26. GhostofSchiano Says:

If by some freak nature our QBs were all injured during a game would leftwich put on a uniform and take the field?

This is the Bucs so yes it could happen.

  27. 813bucboi Says:

    lets see what happens….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

This is not the Bruce Arians of old. You people are acting like he’ll get in players faces and scream at them.

But this Bruce Arians is unlikely to do that. He’s older and has health concerns. From all indications, he’s going to do all he can to avoid stress. And rightfully so. The trolls have been says Tampa is where coaches come to die. The last thing we need is for that to really happen.

He is much more likely to either order his assistants to do it or get rid of players he doesn’t like.

And since Donovan Smith needs a new contract, he may be toast.

  29. tmaxcon Says:

    bonzi

do this asinine assumptions you spew daily just come to you or do you take mass amounts of hallucinogenics… dude you are beyond clueless so much so it’s down right impressive you can type while wearing a straight jacket at one of florida’s finest nut houses.

  30. TexBuc Says:

    Bonzai

I don’t know most coaches can only coach one way, older does not always calm them down sample case I present Bill Parcels.

Parcels was still cranky till the end. Chucky after ten years is still chucky.

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

I see changes comin to both the Bucs O and D lines. Arians places a lot of emphasis on blocking and tackling. We need that desparately. HE also likes a strong LB corp.

  32. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Love it! I think that is exactly the mentallity Schiano wanted to instill in the Bucs, but coming from a smaller college program, little NFL experience outside of his time on the Bears staff, and no locker room leaders/role models on the Bucs at that time likely made a lot of player prima donnas tune the message out. Bruce has the NFL cred and player respect behind him to deliver his version of a “toes on the [muthaf@%king] line!” message that will stick with these younger players much like it did for Willie C. I know it’s a wait in see situation, but I haven’t been this excited as a Bucs fan in a long time! This feels like real deal hope and change for the Bucs!

  33. SOEbuc Says:

Sorry Brent, sounds like it would’ve been no cell phones at halftime you overpaid b!tch

  34. tmaxcon Says:

toes on the line works for about 5 minutes in tampa then the crying clown and lvd march into glazers office crying like little girls. that old guy is a big meanie then toes on the line reverts right back to cancer93’s fun house.

  35. Buc believer Says:

@Toesontheline… I agree 1000%!!! But along with the hard ass approach the players know Bruce will have their back, that’s VERY important.

  36. jjbucfan Says:

Bobby, do you even watch the games, press conferences, etc. Jameis held himself accountable for everything which means he covered for his sorry ass coach that couldn’t wait to throw him under the bus. That is the kind of man Jameis is. Even though the coach outwardly hated him and tried to replace him, he never once spoke a bad word about the dude…still hasn’t even though he is gone.

  37. lokog Says:

at last somebody who will drop the hammer. I liked dirk but he had to go not like grimes and mesean who were the
“I”in team which we all know there is no “I”

  38. Go Bucs 72 Says:

This will not make 76 very happy.

  39. Mark2001 Says:

Koetter was a players coach. Too much a a players coach. Caring disciple is needed. Arians will bring that. More power to him.

  40. mark2001 Says:

Great coach…bringing much needed caring discipline to the team.

  41. Jerry Jones Says:

And the crystal ball club is in full effect now.

  42. TOM Says:

Need to revamp the OL beginning with lazy ass D Smith, next Bennoch & last the old man Dotson. Remember when BA was doing a Bucs game & had high praise for LT Liedtke who was filling in for Smith. You never know.

  43. JimmyJack Says:

Really nice find on that video clip Joe. Lovin what I’m hearin about BA.

Dude is energizing the city!!! Hearing a lot of buzz on the streets. Wear your red y’all!!! This is gonna be fun!!!

    GOO BUCS!!!!

  44. JimmyJack Says:

Joe tell Bud Lite to throw us more flags. You k ow you got the clout.
