“I Love This Team”

January 12th, 2019

Talkin’ Bruce Arians.

A couple of guys residing in the greater New York area are pretty stoked about the Bucs.

Adam Lefkoe and former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms do a Bleacher Report show from the greater New York region and in a breakdown of the NFL coaching hires, it sure smells like both think Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht knocked it out of the park with the hiring of Bucco Bruce Arians this week.

Add to that Arians is assembling many assistants that were part of his fun teams in Arizona. Lefkoe and Simms were smiling widely when discussing the Bucs.

Adam Lefkoe: I love this team. I love this team.

Chris Simms: I do too. This is secretly a good job [for a coach] as long as you are comfortable with the Jameis Winston situation, which [Arians] is. He will be tough on Jameis but he will also let [Jameis] know, ‘I’m in this with you. This is you and me together.’ That’s what he does. That’s why Peyton [Manning] and [Ben] Roethlisberger love him. I do think it is a good hire because the Tampa Bay fan base will love Bruce Arians. He’s a little Gruden-esque. He is going to dominate the press conferences because he is going to say witty things. He’s going to say in-your-face type of things that not everybody will like or will dance on the edge of political incorrectness. He’s a real dude. I think that Tampa fan base will really rally around him. I think that is part of why they wanted him. Because they do have trouble selling seats there.

The key hire is defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. If Bowles can have anywhere near the same success with the Bucs as he had in Arizona, that’s really all the Bucs need to turn things around.

You can watch the full episode here. Bucs chatter begins at the 21:00-mark.

DERRICK BROOKS & IRA KAUFMAN talk about the BRUCE ARIANS hire on TAMPA TWO, presented by Caldeco Air Conditioning & Heating.

  2. gbobucsfan Says:

    Every year….they pull me back in !

  3. El_Buc941 Says:

    I guarantee you the sales of seats just went up 25%. And this year we play the Rams so let’s see if we can hang with the big boys….or better yet if they can hang with us.

  4. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    CHRIS SIMMS #2

    Hell yea, I did hear him say this. – I really always enjoyed rooting for Chris when he was our starting QB and I enjoy watching him on PFT Live with Mike Florio. He really has become a great analyst and fun to watch.

    Encouraging words and good to hear!

  5. down in the dirt Doug Says:

    Think it was a brilliant move using a consulting firm.THANKS OWNERS!!I was one of the ones calling for Lichts head,now it is clear why they had to keep him for now.

  6. Leighroy Says:

    I doubt Licht needed a consulting firm to suggest he hire Arians.

    There was a lot of talk in past articles that if the Bucs hired Arians, they need to have a succession plan for 2-4 years form now….

    Who’s the heir-apparent: Told Bowles? Byron Leftwich? Anyone comfortable with that? I’m less than optimistic about that but this could be a bridge we cross when it comes to it.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    The media loves Bruce Arians so the Bucs will finally get some love because of that…..we are already seeing it.

    I am excited about the FA players out there that will want to be on the Bucs……especially defense…..Bowles will bring them in.

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

    ehhhhhh weird never have heard that the bucs won the off season as of right now its still a 5-11 roster built by dunderbox licht

  9. tmaxcon Says:

    you people underestimating Leftwich need to get out more. he is a rising star in coaching ranks and bucs are very lucky to have him.

    hat tip to Simms for not turning out douchey like his old man. I happened to be in Austin TX during part of his time at UT and man did that boy slay some hotties in sundresses and cowboy boots… again hat tip young Mr Simms.

  10. Buc believer Says:

    Spoken by the man who gave his heart and spleen err soul to the Bucs!

  11. Kobe Faker Says:

    “The NFL will give Tampa Bay a Monday night football game next year just because of BA”

    Kobe Faker

  12. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    ^^ I would not be surprised, Kobe. Good call

  13. Buc believer Says:

    Spoken by the man who gave his heart and sple… err soul to the Bucs!

  14. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Kobe

    Everyone is required to get a primetime game. That’s why Jags-Titans happens every year lol.

  15. Easy Says:

    Hated Simms here in Texas and as the QB of the Bucs but love his show with Lefkoe. He’s brutally honest and not a talking head like most media retards are.

  16. Elita Vita Says:

    Love Chris Simms. He is intelligent and entertaining. Love his stories about him and Jon Gruden. Let’s hope he is right about his feelings concerning the 2019 Bucs. …. Go Bucs!!

    “you people underestimating Leftwich need to get out more. he is a rising star in coaching ranks and bucs are very lucky to have him.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    I have been hearing that too, tmax. Well said
  18. Elita Vita Says:
    A prime time game or the 1st game of the season will be Bucs vs Cardinals (home) to showcase Arians vs his last former team.
  19. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    @Elita,
    Absolutely! I forgot that we have the NFC West on the schedule for next year. Definitely the Bucs-Cardinals game will be a fun one, especially if it’s in Arizona (with Arians returning as Bucs coach now).
  20. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    I misspoke about playing the whole division, but still cool that we are playing the Cardinals. (because we were both in last place)
  21. Elita Vita Says:
    @ Tampa Bay Demon
    Agreed!
    The game is actually at home. However the home fans would really appreciate the victory as well
  22. TexBuc Says:
    Chris Simms as a Bucs alum welcome back on the Bucs bandwagen.
  23. Bucs fan #7423 Says:
    YES BRUCE ARIANS WANTS TO KEEP DESEAN JACKSON!!!!!
    SUCK IT HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Bucs fan #7423 Says:
    This coaching staff my wet dream
  25. Hodad Says:
    If they give us a MNF game this year, maybe we can win it instead of embarrassing ourselves like past Monday nighters.
  26. The Coroner Says:
    First real coach since Chucky! FINALLY!
  27. stpetebucsfan Says:
    TMAX
    Way to shake up my weekend. OMG we actually agree.
    Coaching and playing are two different things. I get why people are freaked about Leftwich because of his year here as a player.
    It’s just not the same.
    If BA says Leftwich is a rising star I’m absolutely going to give Byron the benefit of the doubt. Let’s at least see how it goes before throwing him under the bus.
  28. Bucs fan #7423 Says:
    Bucs = Next Season NFC South Division Champs
  29. Darin Says:
    Leighroy
    This is a year by year league anyway. If Arians only lasts a year or two so be it. Itll be a better year or two than with the last coaching laugh, i mean staff. I doubt the Bucs care much about the succession plan right now. Theres no way to tell how its gona go. I see a huge improvment coming but ya never know. Like u said no reason to worry about years down the road. Year by year game by game league.
  30. Arian Nation Says:
    I like Chris Sims
  31. Brandon Says:
    If Bowles can make this defense AVERAGE this team will contend. And considering the job Licht has done putting talent in place, we aren’t far off. JPP, Nassib, Vea, and McCoy can be very destructive. Our LBs are fast and active. And we have four DBs that may just get better and better in Davis, Evans, Whitehead, and Adams.
  32. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    #7423,
    I am not opposed to keeping DeSean, if he acts like a professional on the sidelines and in the locker-room.
    Arians will accept nothing less.
    You have NO argument from me that DeSean helps our offense immensely with his very presence.
    And who the hell knows? With some renewed confidence by JW (inspired by B.A.)….. maybe just maybe he will find those connections deep to DeSean.
    Jamies Winston + Desean Jackson + Deep Pass Completion = SUPER BOWL!!!
  34. Lubby Smith Says:
    Leftwich must be on the rise because he can’t get any worse.
    Arizona had the worst offense in the league in points and yards.
  35. tmaxcon = POSITIVE REALITY Says:
    Bucs fan #7423
    i am not saying you are wrong but the real factor is
    cancer93 another roster = superbowl
    can’t win with that clown. two birds in once stone send him packing improves bucs and eliminates the destination team from contending. there is a decade of proof that I am 100% right as usual.
  36. Joseph Mamma Says:
    Ok, but what does Antonio Bryant think about this hire?
    Yes we must either reform big fat softie Gerald McCoy into a disruption machine or get rid of him
  38. Loyaltotheend Says:
    Bucs offseason is the season of false hope
  39. @caeric Says:
    The second coming of our beloved John McKay in many ways but especially with his comments and sayings that are classic, super pumped for next year
  40. $acbuc$ Says:
    The sleeper has awaken! Just to say Yeah we finally got a real coach. We might wanna keep Gerald to show some dam loyalty to him for wasting his dam career here. I ain’t missed a snap since 97 and I think 93 get off on the ball faster then ANY dlinemen in the league hands down. His PROBLEM is he don’t know when to turn it on and off. If BA can teach him that instant success.
    Example: If 93 stop using his pass rush speed on running down and plays stout he will stop getting blocked out of the running plays. He is in his gap so fast before the play develop they just push him right pass the halfback. I think if he played LE ala Reggie White he would kill all 32 RT in the NFL. McCoy do ya boy a favor and go pull up some Deacon of Defense footage on YouTube. Transform on these haters!
    I blame all this on Will can’t learn a set of good pass rush moves to save his life. He been here for how long got a new contract and I still ain’t seen him do a decent swim move. A rip tuck up and under spin move nothing but a dam bull rush. It’s his fault. Clinton McDonald had more sacks then he did playing DT and Gholston been here for how long. Clark got closer to the QB then 92. He been taking snap from Noah Spence. I don’t here nobody on this site talking about how Lovie Jay Hayes or Buckner can’t see what I been watching for 5years. We drafted him in the 4th to be our Julius Pepper like end with that height and he can’t even go JJ swat for us.
    So take that Joe / Steve/ Ira/ Lee
  41. $acbuc$ Says:
    Yeah
  42. donuts Says:
    Chris Simms calls it how he sees it much like Phil Simms. His QB analysis on his show with Lefkoe is second to none.
  43. $acbuc$ Says:
    The sleeper has awaken! First I wanna say thanks for hiring a real coach that colorblind around you non talented talent evaluators. Always saying how somebody should act when they have to live their own life not you. I been seen football life with Bruce Arian and prayed to the football god that one day he could coach the Bucs. What stuck out to me is when they told him when he was a kid that he couldn’t play with his black friend and it hurt him deeply. You retards is the main reason we keep going thru this every year. I can’t even listening read our take advice from anybody who ain’t played coached or been in a locker ever in life but KNOW so much about football. Like y’all judge and jury Stfu and stick to yo day job and it dam sure ain’t coaching scouting drafting or running a football team!
  44. Patrick Says:
    I loved Chris Simms back in 2005. It’s too bad things didn’t work out for him here!
  45. $acbuc$ Says:
    I came to this site years ago to give my opinion hoping someone can funnel it to the Bucs. Not to argue opinions with posters who watch the game like me. I just wanna know who drawing up offensive game plans and getting defenses ready for a high power explosive offenses. That’s who I wanna argue with not a poster sitting on his couch that ain’t ever dunked a ball caught a pass of slapped a home run. It always seem like the most unathletic people always gotta a argument about sports. When these gladiators look at us like you have no idea what we put our mind bodies and soul threw to entertain you. Just tell me how many of us nerd know how it feel to get blew up by Gerald McCoy coming thru that hole solo. You will cry right after you get snot bubbled! Then you would never call him soft again and crawl away with your tail tucked. Ya Non Talented Talent Evaluators!
    Yeah those guys you want to argue with are getting paid millions of dollars, they don’t care about your opinion or arguments
    Big fat softie Gerald McCoy gets paid because fans PAY to see him play. Without us fans, the Bucs or anybody in the NFL wouldn’t exist
    So shut your stupid as up!
  47. $acbuc$ Says:
    7423 you so much of a coward I bet your phone is on 91 waiting to call the popo to bail that mouth out of trouble. You weak any woman or man should be worried about spreading that brain and bronze around.
  48. $acbuc$ Says:
    It ain’t what kinda money you got it’s who the person is that has the money idiot. A drug dealer make millions too
  49. $acbuc$ Says:
    So to clear up how I feel about us fans who think we are responsible for sports. I can’t imagine 50,000 fans showing up to watch grass and lines on the field. So back in prehistoric time when this game started you want me to believe it was fans in a stadium watching a field or some gladiators going to war and a crowd of fans surrounded them. Answer my question 7423 with some substance not that nerdy shhhh.
    Did football create fans or did fans create football? It was some collisions hard bodies hitting each other that drew the fans in not the other way around. Take that!
  50. SOEbuc Says:
    Not just because I’m over excited and want it to be true, but I love Simms as an analyst. He’s one of the one’s that actually keep up with teams and players and has a good eye for who’s doing what.
    Simms and his family were standing behind me in line at the Dairy Joy in South Tampa when he was playing for the Bucs and told him “I’m a die hard Longhorns fan and a die hard Bucs fan so it’s real cool to meet you.” Never forget it.
  51. cmurda Says:
    I thought the GM comment regarding Licht having one foot out the door that Adam made was stupid. Do some research dude since it is, I don’t know, your job. Arians and Licht worked well together and Licht definitely had at least a big part in bringing Arians here.
