Cameron Brate Reacts

January 10th, 2019

Talks Bucco Bruce.

It sure looks as if one of the better tight ends in the NFL, Bucs red zone specialist Cam Brate, got ambushed on the streets of Tampa.

Though Joe is sure WTVT-TV sports anchor Kevin O’Donnell wasn’t stalking Brate, it sure looks like that in the video below, like O’Donnell jumped out of the bushes Mike Wallace style as Brate was walking into a South Tampa eatery.

In the video, Brate talks about new Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians. He admitted there is excitement in the air with a new coach coming in.

You can view O’Donnell’s interview with Brate below.

Hilarious. That look on his face is priceless. Go Bucs !!!!

  2. lambchop Says:

Just watched Will Colon talking about BA chewing him out AFTER a walk through. Priceless. Sorry GMC, we don’t need your dancing on the sidelines during a losing effort.

I hope BA cleans house with the loser/soft mentality quick!

Ok, I guess I’ll check out the Brate video now.

  3. Bucsfan951 Says:

Would love for someone to ask BA (tomorrow) if there will be music blaring during practice.

  4. DayOnePaul Says:

Hey BA, what’s your policy on players using their cell phones during a game?

  5. Rod Munch Says:

I like Brate… but $7m for a backup TE, that’s quite a bit. I think the Bucs shop him around to see what they can get, wouldn’t be surprised if they flipped him for a 3rd. With that said the Bucs have nothing else at TE, so losing Brate would mean no depth behind OJ who has yet to make it through a year without ending up on IR, so there’s risk involved. Still, if they’re going to keep Hump around, this might be the money to make that happen.

  6. Mort Says:

Rod: you don’t get better by unloading good players for no reason. Why in the world get rid of him? 7 million isn’t unreasonable. It’s a lot, but he is a favorite red zone target, and we certainly don’t need less production in the RZ.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Somewhat off-topic Joe (sorry) but was looking at BA’s career — Please don’t do the off-topic, sorry — Thank you. Joe (Team Rank’s chart on https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/AriaBr0.htm) and it really opened my eyes. Browns OC (3 yrs); Steelers OC (5 yrs), Colts OC & interim HC (1 yr) then Cardinals HC (5 yrs). In those 14 yrs his teams had only 3 losing seasons (2 with Cleveland & 1 with Cards). His offenses ranked in the Top-10 in POINTS SCORED only 3 times in those 14 yrs (once with Steelers; twice with Cards). BUT … the defenses on those teams ranked in the Top-10 in POINTS ALLOWED 8 times (ALL winning seasons), and ranked in the Top-15 all but twice (both of those losing seasons).

Everyone’s seeing BA as an offensive guru (which he is IMO), but there’s no doubt in my mind that he appreciates the value of DEFENSE better than probably any coach in the NFL. And THAT has me super-excited (along with bringing Todd Bowles here as his DC). In today’s NFL, defense can’t win championships all by itself IMO; COMPLIMENTARY FOOTBALL is the key I’m convinced. And in my mind that requires building a reasonably BALANCED TEAM. (A good example was this recent Chargers-Ravens game. BOTH teams had excellent defenses, but the Chargers we better BALANCED with the better offense & squeaked out a victory).

Bucs’ defense has fallen on hard times (OK, an understatement) & we won’t win diddly unless it improves a bunch. Bringing in Todd Bowles is a major step forward, but we REALLY NEED a major upgrade in TALENT to improve into the Top-10 using the POINTS ALLOWED criteria. We’ve got a decent nucleus to build around, but I fully expect we’ll see a LOT of defensive personnel changes over these next 2 years. But no lambchop, I don’t think GMC will be one of those leaving (but his salary will be renegotiated downward quite a bit I’ll bet).

  8. Bird Says:

He is Humphries best friend and roommate.

Only way Humphries stays (slim chance) as reports say hump could make close to 10 per year, He has no chance of making close to that kind of money. –Joe is if Hump gives bucs hometown discount 5-7 range and is buddy Brate is here as well . The Bucs did give humph his shot and that means something in the NFL; there is loyalty still in this sport. . (Not the NBA which is difficult to watch anymore.

I think Brate will be here. Not sure if Arians runs a lot of 2 tight end sets but he is smart man.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Would anyone expect Brate or anyone else to go negative on a new coach?

  10. TexBuc Says:

    Defense rules

Love the Todd Bowles hire! I said many times would rather lose blitzing than see opposing QB’s throwing 70% completion.

  11. Bruce Gigolo Says:

@BucFan951 no they are going to practice in absolute silence.. what a silly question to ask.. smh what does music playing at practice have to do with anything? Casual fans kill me smh

  12. D-Rome Says:

The look on Brate’s face says it all!

  13. Issaic haggins Says:

Brate gets traded or redone between 3 and 4 mil and that is fair for both sides .

He has no leverage in the matter but I hope he stays !!!

  14. Bucsfan951 Says:

@Bruce: wanna bet that the patriots don’t have music blaring at every one of their practices? I’ve personally been to a chargers practice and guess what, NO MUSIC! I see videos of these Bucs players dancing around AT PRACTICE as if it’s some type of party. But yes, I’m a casual fan smh 🤦🏻‍♂️

  15. Hoops Says:

Brate’s had 23 touchdowns the last 3 years. He’s sucked it up n played hurt this whole season. They signed him to a 6 year contract last year with 18 guaranteed. The bucs need him. OJ hasn’t lasted a whole season. Enough said

  16. Bird Says:

    Joe

Look up contracts for Quincy enunwa , donte moncrief and Pierre garçon. They all make between 9-10 mil a year.

Humph numbers are way better. Whether he is slot or not, his agent could argue that he demands money in that range. Crazy if you think otherwise. Teams would overpay for his numbers

  17. TOM Says:

Its really funny how some fans knows whats going on in the Bucs mind. Saying Brate & McCoy should take a pay cut or they’re gone. Or Hump doesn’t deserve 10 mil. Maybe not but I don’t recall reading where he is asking for that kind of money. Lot of prognosticaters on this site.

  18. Krojen Says:

    I love that fresh kitchen!
