Remembering The Veterans

November 11th, 2018

veterans-day

Joe understands there are a whole lot of guys (girls, too?) who served our country who read this here site daily.

Today, as Joe does every year, Joe salutes you. Not because you read this site (though Joe appreciates that a great deal) but Joe salutes what you did for the rest of us. Thank you for your service. And for those who are still in uniform, a robust thank you as well and wishing you a safe return home someday.

The two Joes are sons of men who served in the Pacific Theater in World War II under very different circumstances, but both with the same purpose and goal. Service men and women mean a lot to Joe.

As Joe does each year, Joe will go to either an American Legion hall today, or a VFW outpost, lay cash on the bar and tell the bartender to buy a round of drinks. Then Joe will quickly walk out the door.

You don’t have to buy a vet drinks, but Joe is sure a simple thanks if you meet a vet today would mean a lot.

Never forget.

    Thanks Joe,

Although I am a Veteran, I spend my 4 years during the Viet Nam era in Base Supply at MacDill…..living on Davis Island with a bunch of nurses….getting 2 years at Univ of Tampa while in.
Yes I was enlisted and am a veteran but I certainly didn’t pay any price like many have. Many of my friends either didn’t come home or came home mentally damaged.
I don’t think most the youth of today have any understanding of what being a Veteran means…..and they certainly have no skin in the game.
To admire someone taking a knee during the anthem is a good example.

A whole hearted salute to our folks in the military. I’ve always enjoyed our Veterans Day games since I started attending Bucs games some 42 years ago. It’s also nice to know that here are millions of us out here that appreciate what our active troops and our retired military has done to protect our freedoms and the democracy our Republic represents not only here at home, but around the globe. It’s also refreshing to know we can feel that way, and still NOT support the nonsense, lies and divisiveness that the Toddler In Chief in Washington is putting ALL American Patriots through these days.

Happy and safe Veterans Day to ALL!

Thank you, Joe. That’s a great annual gesture you do. While they are not necessary, we always appreciate the kind acts.
