Fitz Gives Jameis Props

November 19th, 2018

Lauded

He damn near did it.

When America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, entered the game in the second half yesterday, he gave the Bucs four touchdowns on his first four drives and pulled the Bucs twice to within three points.

If the Bucs didn’t have a such a paper defense maybe Jameis would have given the Bucs the lead?

Either way, journeyman backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started yesterday’s debacle, seemed really impressed with how Jameis played when called upon, so he told Jenna Laine of ESPN.

“I was proud of the way Jameis went in there and played,” Fitz said. “It’s not easy to do. It’s not easy not to have any preparation and working with the scout team and [being] thrown in there in the middle of the game.”

Yet the vile people who spit on the very ground Jameis walks on who erupted in anger that he was in the game, cannot in any way, shape or form admit Jameis did a nice job yesterday.

Was it enough to win? No, unfortunately, but he certainly showed who was the best quarterback on the roster in case anyone naively thought otherwise.

  3. Eric Says:

28 points in less than a half of football is a bit more than a “nice job”

Especially coming in at 24-7 deficit when the Fitzmagic had thrown three ugly picks.

Really proud of the way Jameie played, it was very good by any measure but especially so given what he was thrown into.

Naturally as he mounted the comeback the defense folded like a cheap suit and it wasn’t enough.

Who’s mouth can I vomit in?????

  5. Deminion Says:

I want David Shaw as the HC

  6. rrsrq Says:

I think Fitz planned this, his interceptions were terrible. He did what Dirk wouldn’t do, get Jameis back on the field

  7. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Same thing fitz did in cincy…so the bucs have 2 qbs who come from behind but always lose

  8. Not there yet Says:

Your own bucs anthem. The world wants you to do us a favor, you and the rest of the haters who can’t give the guy props for a decent game just find it the biggest bridge near you and try a nice swan dive

  9. Jean Lafitte Says:

If Winston’s mistakes had been more turnovers we’d be having a different conversation. We’ll just cut out the bad to get to the good, and maybe nobody will notice.

  10. Eric Says:

I was kinda hoping they would continue to play FItzmagic, for his loyal fans.

Of course he had gone six quarters with ten points and 0 td passes with six turnovers.

    He the man!

  11. John Sinclear Says:

He put up enough points to win. The defense gave up enough points to lose. Pretty simple to figure out what the problem is!

  12. Jean Lafitte Says:

The problem is we have two QB’s that suck and put the team on it’s heels every single game

  13. T in Orlando Says:

From yesterday’s performance, all one can really say is that Winston was the best QB be on the team yesterday, not slam down best in the roster period. When was the last time Winston put up back to back performances like Fitz did in weeks 1 and 2? When was the last time Winston looked like crap through 2 and a half quarters of play to the point of being benched?

Winston should be starting the rest of the year, and MAYBE he’ll show reason enough to keep him in the team next year, but these 5 drives

  14. Eric Says:

put Fitz in, they still haven’t learned.

bucs will come out flat and giants will be up 28-0 by halftime….then in the second half, giants score 1 more TD to make it 35-0 before we score 4straight TD’s and lose 28-35…..fitz will have another 4TD game with 400yards passing and barber will have 105 on the ground…..dirk will say we need to play better and that starts with me….he’ll say fitz will remain the starter sunday night….monday morning he’ll he served his walking papers…..
and you know why they’ll can him monday…..because thats when city of tampa picks up the trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pretty much spot on except for the final score and who threw the 4TD’s…..

  16. Troy Says:

I like Winston yesterday. He looked better. If we had any defense at all….but the script to this play is written. I can’t wait until the 3rd string QB from SF puts 30+ on us.

  17. Jean Lafitte Says:

Where’s Griffin? Doesn’t he deserve a shot or do we trust Koetter’s evaluation on him? So far Koetter can’t get anything right.

  18. Pierce Says:

Our offense doesn’t seem to have a hard time putting up points. Unfortunately our defense doesn’t either….

  19. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Jean Lafitte

If you think Ryan Griffin should play over Jameis you’re delusional.

put Fitz in, they still haven’t learned.”

Did you see the dropped interceptions when Winston came in or were you watching another game?

  21. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Fitz is a good dude and more than capable backup/spot starter. I’m beginning to think the first 2 wins were actually a bit of fool’s gold as it gave some misguided hope and put Jamies in a no-win situation.

  22. Jean Lafitte Says:

    First Down Tampa Bay

How do you f’n know? Are you a GD psychic?

  23. 813bucboi Says:

    @joe

notice how all of fitz picks were to djax……

funny thing is, winston was doing that last year and parts of this year too….forcing the ball to djax…..

who’s coaching to QB’s and creating the offensive game plan?…..the incompetent 1’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  24. Kansas95Buc Says:

You haters can say what you want but Winston is the future. Before he came in the game he was talking the oline, look like he was saying something inspiring. How many young QBs you see doing that with score looking effed up at halftime? #ThatsMyQB

  25. Fartman Says:

Jameis played pretty good, he’s always had spurts… (If he loses that fumble its a different conversation)… even I agree at this point give him the rest of the year, Fitz blew it. These season is now over, so hopefully Jameis can prove to be something that he has yet to prove. I’m not hopeful. I’m already looking forward to see what the next regime can do. These guys are toast.

  26. AJ Says:

Enough already…..Jameis is our QB! this guys is elite talent, needs better coaching to maximize that talent level. Yes he can be a bone head. But just too much of a ceiling to give up on a 24yr old kid this early in his career.

Work on the defense, it all starts and ends there.

  27. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

Blind lemmings, Jameis apologists and FSU ALUMs like “Not there yet” just like his brain cannot comprehend football –

    * He damn fumbled the ball away again

    * He almost had another two interceptions with absolute stupid throws

    * His footwork was a mess again

    * He accuracy was erratic at best (ball placement sucks)

Listen……this has nothing to do about yesterday and all about his body of work for THREE DAMN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……….now going on 4.

……………..22 minutes of 1 NFL game……..DOES NOT ERASE THREE YEARS of CRAP, STUPIDITY, and DUMB QB plays

WAKE UP JAMEIS LOYALISTS………..this guy has set this franchise back atleast 4 to 5 years….

The Bucs need to move on and start looking else where……….

  28. Anonymous Says:

We need a new coach Winston is really good bad play calling

  29. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Jonathan Lipnicki says,

“and put Jamies in a no-win situation.”

    _______________________________________
No Jameis put Jameis in that position

  30. Eric Says:

    ah the “almost interception” stat.

    28 points.

12/16 is sooooooooooooooo inaccurate. Team had scored ten in previous six quarters. 28 with Jameies playing for less than a half.

And the 77 td passes in his short career. Amazing an inaccurate guy can do that.

But lets play frits and cut Winston so these idiots can be happy.

  31. Kansas95Buc Says:

This is what people don’t understand, NO QB would not thrive under the current team. Name one QB who could over come no run game, no defense and no kicking game? People talk about turnovers but neglect to mention our QB has to drop back almost 40+ times a game, the defense knows we are gonna be pass happy so it increases the likely hood of a interception. Don’t worry folks, I’m here until 5pm PST lol

  32. Ted Kamensky Says:

    @BucsAnthem

The only thing that’s a mess is your analysis.

Jameis was 12 of 16 with 200 yards and 2 TD’s in less than a half of football. He wasn’t perfect, but far from erratic/a mess. And gifting him INT’s that he didn’t throw (a popular pastime for Jameis critics) just shows that you’re trying to pad his negative stats to support your biased opinion. It definitely seems like you’re rooting for him to fail.

Also, are you a QB coach for pee-wee football? What do you know about the footwork of an NFL player? Stick with the mock drafts.

  33. Jsmalls Says:

Interesting stat today, Wentz is 1-12 when the Eagles give up 26 points or more. Let’s keep piling on a 24 year old QB who can’t with a defense far worse off than what Wentz has with the Eagles.

  34. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Greetings Jean Shorts Lafitte-Tight…you mean business today and frankly I kinda like it…Bucs and Jameis certainly need it!

  35. Mike Johnson Says:

Joe..And thats been our dilema for upten yrs now. Your 1st sentence says it all..WE ALMOST DID IT> yep, thats us every GD game. Playing beautifully from behind only to fall short. Then sayin, Man..We Almost…..We are stuck in that Tom Cruise Edge of Tmw Movie..constantly repeating the loop. I hope they do cut Winston. I’m gonna LMAO when he holds that trophy up with a new team..Like Doug Williams did way back in the day. Remember him? Culverhouse refused to pay him. Please be quick and fire Dirk and Licht. lets get a new coach to evaluate
Jameis. Somebody please bring us out of the Den of Depression!

  36. Tony LA Says:

    Joe,

Don’t give credence to the uneducated miserable Buc fans who think giving up in a 24 year old QB is the right answer. Those are the same people who like Mike Glendon.

They are simply a very loud minority because they have nothing better to do that spout uneducated contempt from the privacy of their keyboard.

The Bucs have six games to really hone Jameis into something. This offense is INSANE. Let him have the keys and keep working on the defense and let’s see if he can’t get it right by seasons end. If he can’t, then we all will know it for certain and the Bucs can move on,

But if he can get it right… then the Bucs are that much further along in the process. No more injury excuses from last year. No more suspension excuses from this year. Six games..: let’s see what the kid has once and for all.

  37. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Kansas95Buc

you’re right Captain Obvious, no-one could possibly win under those circumstances but turning the ball over constantly sure don’t help either

  38. Joe Blahak Says:

Maybe Ryan Griffin is the best QB on the roster…Will we ever find out?

  39. rrsrq Says:

JW almost had two picks, one of those hit Hump in the hands/shoulder. I will say this Jameis is playing like he is guiding his ball and will run more frequently as he looks to be scared to be that gunslinger

  40. D-Rome Says:

Jay-Miss is not the quarterback of the future. His poor decision making was on full display, once again, during yesterday’s game.

    Simple as that.

  41. BrianBucs Says:

Let us not forget that Fitz did the same thing against the Bengals after Winston threw 4 picks in less than 3 quarters.
The Bucs QB situation is a mess

  42. Bucsfan3 Says:

    WE WANT JAMEIS

  43. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

ALL QB’s ALMOST have picks…such a ridiculous constant critic…it just is amplified by a piss poor team!!!

  44. Ed Says:

Winston provided a spark off the bench. He made some great throws and he also made some horrible throws, he did get lucky which is something the Bucs havn’t had much of. Maybe he’s doing the right things while he’s been on the bench that can get it together. I would be happy if he can become successful Hopefully he can put together 4 quarters of smart football and prove he can eliminate fumbling and throwing into triple coverage. He has a lot to prove. If the Bucs lose all their divisional games left considering they are all home games then Jameis has to be evaluated on W/L, not yardage. He needs to win some games now, whether the defense sucks which it does, the offense has to win some of these games.

  45. BucTown Says:

Can’t reply just yet. Too busy spitting on the ground ShameUs walks on. OK, done. So let’s talk about the oh-so-characteristic fumble that was luckily recovered by Mike Evans. And the oh-so-familiar pair of bad throws that were on the Giants hands, but they dropped them.

  46. bradinator Says:

That shouldn’t be shocker that our #1 overall Draft choice is better than a 7th rnd journeyman. It doesn’t say much about either one. Yeah, Jameis should start. Give him the rest of the season to either show us he’s worthy of $20 mil or he’s not. He played decent yesterday. That fumble was unforgivable, got a lucky bounce there, and he owes Hump a bar tab for him slapping an obvious pick down. There’s that “almost” again though. Defense gets the blame here, and every D coach should be on the street. Throw in the O-line coach there too. We NEED a QB who doesn’t turn the ball over. Period. We REALLY need somebody other than JPP to show up on D..with some heart, please.

  47. Anonymous Says:

This play has a lot to do with Koetter and his sh1tty coaches playbooks. Can’t wait to see what happens when the Glazers open the vault for a serious coach with NFL experience and is able to put together a good staff.

  48. Bucsdelight Says:

What’s he supposed to say? Get out of here with that paper thin news story. Just as bad as our defense. Both QBs are not our future.

  49. Bucsmarley Says:

Did you people watch a different game than I did
I understand Winston had 4 drives that resulted in tds
But if your being truly honest he had a fumble and 1 interception
And 2 possibly 3 should have been interceptions. All that in 1 qtr plus
Of football. Personally I’ve seen enough. Same poor decision with flashes
Of greatness. Ide prefer to maybe make a play for bridgewater and draft a
Qb the following year maybe tua. I’ve been a fan since the very
Beginning in the 70’s and have no issues rebuilding. To all
That don’t agree just remember no playoffs since our super bowl win
Let’s do it right this time. Try for Dungy or Arians for president
Of operations, possibly Derek brooks for GM( why not?) ide like Schwartz for a couch possibly
Long post short I’ve seen enough from Winston and prefer to move
I believe he could be a good qb just not as a buc. We really should
    Consider kapernick

  50. Jameis Almighty! Says:

So the Conspiracy theory is Fitz played like crap to get Jameis back in the game. Yeah right. If u believe that I’ve got great real estate in the Everglades to sell you.

  51. SKBucsFan Says:

The team should be giving Cairo Santos props. He put up 5 points. That’s what kept us in the game.
