  1. Rod Munch Says:

Seriously, who can possibly have confidence in Dirk at this point?

He throws his 24-year franchise QB under the bus after a bad road game in order to save himself and then the team puts up that pitiful effort on Sunday. How does Dirk even still have a job today?

He was a great OC, and it’s too bad the lynch mob got Lovie ran out of town because had they not it would have meant another year of Dirk working 1-on-1 with Winston and we’d be ahead of where we are now. Instead Dirk is promoted to a job he’s clearly not cut out for, and we’ve seen the results.

Sigh… So on to another rebuild…

  2. PriMech54 Says:

Simply does not have the chops of a real-deal NFL head coach. The offense is one-dimensional fool’s gold and lacks creativity. Here’s an interesting stat – out of the 5 games the New England Patriots have scored over 30 points this season, they have rushed the ball for over 100 yards collectively or had a 100 yard back in all 5 of those games. In those 5 games, their running backs/fullback caught a total of 42 passes. That’s a real offense that can kill you any which way necessary and play situational football to dominate the TOP if their defense is playing badly. Dirk simply does not have the vision to lead the Bucs to winning football.

“Let’s build the team completely backwards from the outside-in and then ignore the trenches and running game, draft a kicker in the second round and tell our young #1 pick to go out and be Aaron Rodgers. We can get to the playoffs with ‘explosives’ and horrific defense if we can just score 45 every single week and never-ever turn the ball over to make up for our defense who never-ever gets a takeaway.”

The Bucs need accountability. The Bucs need pedigree. The Bucs need a real NFL coach.

  3. FireMikeSmith_orDie Says:

Just a few weeks ago, weren’t Koetter’s poll numbers (on this site anyway) completely flipped?

I don’t know why 95% of fans (and website operators) are so slow at realizing the obvious. Koetter was a downgrade from Lovie Smith, I said it a long time ago, and his magical 8-8 season was more of a function of Lovie’s team combined with some lucky breaks than anything he did coaching wise.

The Bucs’ last few drafts have been abysmal. The coaching has been okay in terms of tutelage, but in terms of designing schemes around the talent you have to work with, the coaches have no clue…. still too busy trying to make square pegs fit in round holes.

Moreover, the trend the past two seasons has been straight down, with occasional spikes up along a downward trending line. The only bad thing about firing Koetter? The next guy the Glazers bring in will be WORSE, because that has been the pattern since Tony Dungy left.

  4. Kansas95Buc Says:

I often wondered why the players won’t call their own plays after all this? Is anybody on the team so freaking mad about losing that they’ll go rogue and adjust to what they’re seeing on the field? Are we the fans (who are capable of logical and critical thinking) the only ones feed up with the losing? I’m not a drinker but boy am I drunk a lot more this season….

  5. Blow it up Says:

Why are you guys that have consistently picked that you’re confident in him all of a sudden not as confident. I’ve been on little confidence ever since it was started. Now dropped down to no confidence

  6. Mike Says:

Let’s see the Licht no confidence pole please!

  7. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

The Dirk probably figured he was done at the end of last season…The Gruden rumors…the incessant losing ( until that minor miracle win vs the Saints ). That 5th win not only kept The Dirk around, it allowed Licht to completely butcher a promising draft that could have and should have brought in Bradley Chubb for a new regime.

  8. Evo2706 Says:

Looks like another coach who bit off more than he could chew. Better OC the HC.

  9. Evo2706 Says:

    Better OC than HC*

  10. D-Rome Says:

    Confident.

JPP said it’s not on the coaches but on the players. I believe him.

  11. D-Rome Says:

    FireMikeSmith_orDie,

I agree. That team was going to go 9-7 with or without Lovie. Futhermore, Lovie would have slapped Jason Licht around for even suggesting to draft a kicker with a 2nd round pick.

  12. Frank813 Says:

How about running a poll on Jason Licht ability to select talent ?

  13. BrianBucs Says:

Blame Koetter all you want, but this all falls on GM Jason Licht.

  14. El Buco Realisto Says:

If Some were to apply logic to the situation, A strong case can be made to keep Head Coach Koetter and get rid of JW3 and Jason licht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But logic does not apply when it comes to the bucs and the sheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. LakeLand Says:

    I have always said

You will NEVER win in the NFL
    With a One Dimensional offense

    Too predictable

  16. LakeLand Says:

Trying a fake punt on your own 26 yard line

That’s a Pop Warner League play

  17. DislocatedBucsFan Says:

It’s terribly funny how the votes swing based on emotion.

  18. Loyaltotheend Says:

Confident in his offense no confidence in his ability in almost every other facet of being a head coach

    —————————————–

    From the 50? Sure.

From your own 26? Fire-able offense in my opinion. Especially given that we needed to pick up nine yards and had to rely on a throw to get it.

Glad the players worked to come back to a point, but the fake punt was a coach’s call and it was ABYSMAL.

  20. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

LOL!!! It’s a battle between no confidence and little confidence… and no confidence is winning!

  21. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

If Lovie actually brought a defense to Tampa we’d be competing in the Super Bowl right now with Dirk Koetter as OC

  22. Duke Silver Says:

To Blame DK is insane! His side of the ball is productive and he had nothing to do with JW’s suspension, which had hamstrung his development. If Dk is guilty of anything it trusting Mike Smith with the GM’s inept defensive players. Even as the head coach, you know Dk has little to do with defense.

  23. Season Is Over Says:

Remember after every win when Koetter would get snappy and condescending with the media? I am willing to bet that he regrets that now. It is the reason I turned on him long ago. It just showed how fake he was.

  24. Loyaltotheend Says:

Any good coach is condescending to the moronic Tampa media

  25. Season Is Over Says:

Koetter never earned that right being a good coach. That was the whole point, Loyaltotheend. Haha!!

  26. D-Rome Says:

I agree with this. This Bucs offense has been historic despite the instability at the quarterback position. To fire the coach that has been responsible for the most explosive offense in Buccaneers history to go along with being one of the best offenses in the NFL currently, is a bit over the top.

The Joe’s are right on their podcast and their articles. We’ve seen this song and dance before and we know how it’s going to end. This season’s failures land squarely at the feet of Jason Licht. With the defense, Koetter is being asked to make chicken salad out of chickens–t and he’s not the one that’s done the grocery shopping. It’s been Jason Licht.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

I voted the same Litle confidence as I have day one when he got here. I knew he and pressbox Smitty were wrong for this team. I’ve said it over and over the last few years.

  28. 813bucboi Says:

    realist

why would we keep a coach who cant run the ball, stop the run, stop the pass and has less than average special teams?…..

why would we keep a HC who cant develop a QB that he said a can turn into a winner?….

why would we keep a HC that provides zero input on the defense?….

why would we keep an HC who always has his team unprepared to play, especially on the road?….

why would we keep an HC that continues to have his team blown out by half time?…..

face it, you’ve been dead wrong about this staff from day1…..dirk when in over his head when he took the job and has been exposed ever since…..he is too incompetent to be an HC…..

just like smitty, dirk will be fired on monday morning because thats when the city of tampa picks up the trash!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!

  29. LakeLand Says:

When your team show up flat for 5 games

And just go through the motions on the field

    That’s on the coaching staff,

    Pittsburgh. 24-7
    Chicago. 38-3
    Atlanta. 21-6
    Cincinnati. 21-0
    Carolina. 35-7

    This is pathetic

This is the results of a team not PREPARED to play

The coaching staff shouldn’t allow this
Maybe once, but not 5 times in 6 games

    Inexcusable
The ENTIRE coaching staff need to go

  30. Syl Says:

The highest I have ever given him is little confidence. He was a bad hire, and a mediocre coach at best.

  31. 813bucboi Says:

    D-ROME

thats where i disagree…..dirks offense is predictable and easy to shut down because it lacks creativity and a run game…..his 4vert scheme is outdated….puts up a ton of stats but they dont equal to wins….

and dirk having little to do with the offense is an indictment on him and shows his lack of knowledge as an nfl coach…..HC’s generally know all 3 phases of the team…..dirk has openly admitted he only gets involved with the offense…..thats embarrassing!!!!!…..

his lack of knowledge on defense combined with his inability to develop players, winston being the prime example is the reason why this team has regressed…..

you talk about the offense but players like winston, marpet, d.smith, benencoh havent progressed they’ve regressed…..players on defense have all regressed….

no doubt licht made so mistakes but lack of knowledge about defense and ST combined with lack of player development is what really screwed us…and that falls squarely on the HC…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!

  32. 813bucboi Says:

    lakeland

    BINGO!!!!!

thats how dirks gets credit for having a great offense….garbage time stats…..the games are over by half time….

lack of preparation and player development falls on the coaches!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!

  33. buddy Says:

ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!!! People are finally seeing what joke this guy KOETTER.

  34. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t like Dirk, I’ve had no confidence in him since year one when he quit on the team in the Denver game and literally gave up, but to say at this point you lost confidence because he did a fake punt? LOL! That’s ridiculous.

The fake punt is one of the few things I do agree with him on, the problem is he waits until the season is already over to try to do anything to get around having the worst defense in the history of football.

You see people, you fake punt because your defense ISN’T going to stop the Panthers anyways – and of course they didn’t. You fake in order to try to keep the offense out there and get back a possession. Of course since it’s Dirk’s team the fake punt it’s sell is complete garbage that looks like a busted play (not by design, it was just a cluster).

Meanwhile when the season still did matter, when Fitz has the ball on the Bucs final drive against the Steelers, with a defense that can’t stop anything, with 3 mins left in the game, what does Dirk do? He punts the ball KNOWING there is no chance the Bucs get the ball back. Instead of keeping Fitz out there, who had 400 yards and who had been fairly sharp, he punts the ball away and puts the game on his defense when we ALL knew what was going to happen.

Dirk is an idiot, but not for that fake punt, but for punting from the Steelers 36 in a shootout, for punting at the end of the game instead of going for it.

  35. SOEbuc Says:

Good OC. Doesn’t know how to be a HC. Knows nothing about running a defense. If he did, he wouldn’t of been so lenient with his buddy Mike Smith at the end of last year and kept him on till mid season this year running the worst defense in the league. So unless we go at least 9-7 while beating NO,ATL,CAR two outta three, he could have a chance to stay.

Bring me in as GM and I’ll draft Alabama players every round and we’ll win the Super Bowl every year. I would like to see them go up against the Bucs.

Sad ending to another iteration of losing football. Next.
