The Dotson Reaction

October 30th, 2018

Exasperated

Joe has now watched Sunday’s Bucs-Bengals game three times and one classic moment still stands out every time.

It was delivered by the longest tenured Bucccaneer, Demar Dotson.

Dotson arrived on the Tampa Bay roster as an undrafted rookie offensive lineman in 2009. He was a project, a converted basketball player with little football experience.

He’s survived four head coaches and plenty of shoddy quarterback play through 10 seasons. But on the second interception thrown by Jameis Winston on Sunday, it seemed Dotson had finally seen enough and his inner Bucs fan came out before the whistle even blew.

Watch Dotson (No. 69) as this pass is completed to the wrong team. Kinda says it all.

Thanks for the laugh Joe! It certainly wasn’t funny when it happened but seeing Dotson “c’mon man” is pretty funny. And he was actually blocking well on the play.

  2. theodore Says:

So why can’t Fitz play 3-4 more years again? Why the rush to get a “new” QB? QBs getting older and better protected.

  3. miken Says:

Such a winable game. A damn shame! Can’t win this week but should be able to rattle off 3 in a row after that. Year 4 and the #1 pick looks like he’s always looked. You can’t trade him, because no one wants him.

  4. Please Says:

“First I gotta put up with this weasel’s off field crap, act like it’s all good … now this mf-er screwing with my livelihood.”

  5. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

My fiancé saw that and she thought it was one of the funnest things she had seen… Dot is like “what the ##@# are you doing??!!”

(sigh)… we gotta laugh right? To stay sane.

  6. DB55 Says:

If Dotson did the same thing every time he gets beat or misses a block his arms would fall off.

Make no mistake, Tampa has decided to ride with old arse 13 yr vets rather than building on the future. Good luck with that!!!

I’d fire Dotson, djax, Fitz, and any other player who been in the league 10+ years and has zero hardware at all.

  7. Bucsfan951 Says:

Yeah but but but Marino, favre, manning and all of those guys threw interceptions in year 4 and blah blah blah. Face it, Winston has lost this team. The lack of a “c” being on his jersey says it’s all!

  8. Zwak Says:

@theodore Fitz can’t play four games without going sideways much less four years! Once he is named the starter something changes, this isn’t anything new he’s done it his entire NFL Career.

Short memories most of us seem to have..

  9. Ray Rice Says:

That’s the kind of reaction you make when you come home expecting to eat a steak for dinner but see that your spouse made spaghetti. Like man WTF!

  10. Steve@Tattoobowling Says:

It would appear to everyone not from Florida that Jameis is being the same guy that he was in college minus his freshman year.

Think about that for a second….if it wasnt for his freshman year in college we wouldnt be talking about this because we would never had drafted him.

I HOPE he can change….but realistically, who really believes he can correct his flaws?

  11. DBS Says:

And of course DB55 at the time was saying it’s ok with a smile. We will get it back right? That or as usual blaming someone else.

  12. D-Rome Says:

That throw is the epitome of what Jay-Miss is all about and what it’s absurd, and foolish, to compare his INT numbers to Favre and Manning. He literally passed it to the other team.

  13. AtlBuc Says:

The Bills’ QB got hurt last I don’t know how serious it is but maybe they would give us McCoy for JW

  14. Oneilbucs Says:

I can’t wait for Sunday. We will see what y’all hall of fame quarter back fizpatrick do . Poor fan base…….

  15. TampaTown Says:

I love Big Dot. He’s always honest no matter what.

  16. voiceofreason Says:

he must be benched. was awful. but, i kinda thought that particular pass was tipped or his arm was hit. just me?

  17. Resurrection of Duff Says:

WORST OF THE SEASON AT ANY LEVEL????????????????????

    WTH!!!!!!

Jameis “I Got To Get Better” Winston hit him between the numbers?!?!?!?

    SMH lol

  18. TOM Says:

AtlBuc: Would love to see it but I doubt it.

  19. 813bucboi Says:

    lol….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  20. Season Is Over Says:

It would have been better had he just Chewbacca tackled Winston for throwing the pass.

  21. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

I actually saw that live and laughed when it happened. Players get frustrated too.

  22. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

DB55 said “If Dotson did the same thing every time he gets beat or misses a block his arms would fall off. ”

That was funny as hell, DB55 – LMAO!!

  23. Don Says:

He’s frustrated, I had nearly the same reaction – to be fair I have the same reaction every time a running back gashes our defense like we are not there or wide receiver run free through our secondary

  24. stpetebucsfan Says:

DB55 you’re starting to become pathetic. When are you going to stop with that weak stuff. You have NOTHING left to defend and so your ENTIRE spiel right now is misdirection…wait until Fitz sucks….wait until Dot misses another block…it’s not about THEM!!!! It’s about the loser wearing #3!!!

Here’s another thing guys that I noticed in the game. After that second int you could see the wind go out of our sails…remember there should have been two more picks where JW hit the wrong colored jersey…luckily shocking them so much they dropped the ball…

And so look at the video again on those int returns and notice guys just jogging to the Bengal for the tackle…they did not hustle at all. They had given up!

  25. firethecannons Says:

    WTF Miken
We cant win this week-why the F not–they get their mind right and it could definitely happen When Fitz and the offense get hot it’s happening.

  26. Loyaltotheend Says:

Players and fans are sick of the stupid throws and mistakes

    He’s out of excuses

  27. RawDog Says:

Real bad pass. I also don’t like seeing 4 O-lineman & Barber on the left side standing there not blocking anything. Almost seems like it was supposed to be a screen pass to that side.

  28. Dewey Selmon Says:

That just reminds me of Neil O’donahue trying to kick the ball out of bounds. Or Morris Owens having the ball hit his helmet trying to catch a long ball in 1976.

  29. Bucfan1976 Says:

I hope all you winston basher will bash Fitzpatrick when he starts throwing picks.

  30. Bucfan1976 Says:

Here’s something to think about, enjoy the next 5 yrs of losing.
    Sounds pretty good huh.
Cant wait to see who yall bash next.

  31. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

^^^ Bucfan1976, let’s just hope he doesn’t throw any! I don’t think any of us wants any of our QB’s to throw Int’s. That certainly has not changed. When Jameis is in there… or Fitz…. I want a fantastic performance. Rooting for success on every play.

  32. Richard Dickson Says:

This is still the best in-game reaction to an on-field whiff ever.

Dewey Selmon Says: “That just reminds me of Neil O’donahue trying to kick the ball out of bounds. Or Morris Owens having the ball hit his helmet trying to catch a long ball in 1976.”

LMAO! Hilarious stuff, Dewey. Thank you for those images. Or.. how about ALL of those Barry Sanders highlights? Doesn’t it seem like they are ALL against the Bucs with like 421 guys missing tackles? hahahaha…. —

oh well… like I said,,,, sometimes we all just gotta laugh and smile.
    all will be well.

  34. Oneilbucs Says:

Dotson is trash any way how many quarter backs he got killed.

  35. Loyaltotheend Says:

    @1976

Are Jameis jock munchers gonna offer up as many excuses for Fitz as they did for JW?

  36. cw_buc_crazy Says:

did they trade him yet? any rumor?

  37. cw_buc_crazy Says:

..please any team, NFL, CFL… how no one can see the gems that some FSU genius here are seen on JW ??!!

  38. TonyD Says:

It wasn’t the throw that bothers me as much as the decision, especially when Adam Humphries was wide open in the flat.

  39. Reach87 Says:

I for one agree that was a bad performance and we should expect more. I for one love what Fitz has shown this year. I also think Winston should have been benched after the 3rd pick. I for one believe Winston should not be traded, is not a bust, and will help us win games this year. One game does not and should not define a career IMO. Going back and saying he sucks and was a bad pick after one game is poppycock. In any case, let’s keep coming together and beat the Panthers. They are good but we can win if we play all 3 phases for 4 quarters. Go Bucs!

  40. NewTampaChris Says:

Dotson was trying to fly out of the stadium and away from the dumpster fire.

  41. BigMacAttack Says:

Theodore, Fitz can easily play 3-4 more years. Look at Drew Brees. All these know it all sports analysts don’t know dit. They just run their mouths. Fitz is playing better than he ever has. The key is blocking for him. They should have traded Winston before today. Licht is stupid.

  42. stpetebucsfan Says:

    NDOG…Bucsfan..DB55

You guys are NOT Nostradamus. You are all pulling stuff out of your posterior without a single FACT!!!

NOBODY can predict the future!!! So Fitz won ten games with the Jets one year…was the Jets offense as loaded as ours? NO.
That version of the Jets did have a decent defense…bottom line Fitz started the season and won ten games and yet you jokers are telling us that something THAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED cannot ever happen.

NDOG….your EMOTIONAL REACTION is making you throw your own guy under the bus. Your last lamearse excuse was our “weak minded” locker room. WHO is the leader in the locker room? The Coach and then the leading players and mostly any true FRANCHISE QB. Jameis has poor leadership skills…that is one of the biggests shocks to me after all that PR blast from Tallahassee and you guys.

Wait…wait..now I get it…Dirk turned the team against Jameis.
No I’m sorry it’s the fans who are sick of turnovers…and the worst fans of all…those who object to vajayay grabbing…haters all of them.

  43. FortMyersDave Says:

Theodore makes a good point on Fitz. Why can’t he play for another 2 or 3 years? All the pessimists here talk about how great the other NFC South qbs are and it makes you think all 3 will be playing the Bucs for another 10 years. Cam could last that long and Matty Ice is not all that young anymore and Brees has to be close to retiring…. Any of the 3 could get injured as well. Point is that Fitz may have something left in the tank and being a back up DID limit his wear and tear so why can’t he be a 3 year stop gap????

  44. joestang Says:

Its just as simple as FITZ gives us the best chance to win right now. Jameis looked like a beaten man Sunday. Maybe some time off watching a veteran will help. Winston has the talent to be a #1 QB but I dont know if he will ever correct his bad decision making. FITZ is a good back-up. The team seems to rally under him and play much better. Maybe the players see something we dont. FITZ brings a calmness to the huddle. Every play with Jameis is an adventure, some good some bad.
