Kendell Beckwith Update

October 14th, 2018

Bucs linebacker talks to Joe.

News you need to know, Bucs fans.

Joe earlier this week spoke with Bucs linebacker Kendell Beckwith when he had finished up a ping-pong game. Beckwith, as most know, has been sidelined since an April ankle surgery after a traffic accident broke it.

It doesn’t appear Beckwith will hit the field in the near future. Beckwith told Joe that there is no specific timetable for him to be cleared by team doctors. He is still rehabbing and when he gets the green light to resume practicing, he will.

Beckwith couldn’t give Joe any ballpark guesstimate for when that might be. Of course, he is itching to return.

Ankles are tricky…..doesn’t sound good….we shouldn’t miss him as long as our current LB corps stays healthy.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

TBBF … But I miss him, a LOT. I was convinced that Smitty would eventually move him over to MLB this season, but alas it was not to be. Gut feel is that he’ll miss ALL of 2018 now. And like you said … “Ankles are tricky”. His rehab will have a huge impact on what the Bucs decide to do about Kwon (or LVD) IMO.

We need to get a great linebacker in 2019 draft in the 2nd, but a cornerback in 1st this year

“Shouldn’t miss him as long as our current linebackers are healthy.” A Oh for sure, because Kwon and Lavonte been totally playing at an all pro level. Totally. Beckwith is their best linebacker. Not only that he was the best player on defense last year. Not sure how that “car accident” happened but it was an unfortunate setback for not only him but this team

Thank you for the update, Joe. I have been hopping to get one.

Wish it were better news! Ah well. Jack will just have to step things up then!

    @Defense Rules

Yeah, I got the feeling it would be all season now too. Bummer.

No we do not. We just have to patiently let our picks develop more than 4 games.

See now, this is why Tampa fans struggle. Okay, sure, Kwon and Lavante have not been at their best…but what you overlook is that they have a ‘best’ to aspire to. The entire defense has been struggling.

I mean, think it through…there are more than 8 new players who actually get substantial playing time during games, either as starters or first string backups or whatever. Did people really expect them to gel within 4 games? It was never going to happen.

That said, they should be getting better at this point, game-by-game. We’ll see if that is the case today.

But you can fully expect a better outing for the defense from today forward, and that includes Kwon and Lavante.

  9. LakeLand Says:

Kendell Beckwith doesn’t serve a purpose, unless he’s playing MIKE. He’s too big and slow to play strongside. And also the Bucs need that nickel back in 100% of the defensive snaps. Teams are throwing on them, not running on them. Therefore Beckwith return is Irrelevant.

Hope that he gets back soon cause we need him.

  11. Easy Says:

He will be the future MLB of this team if healthy.

  12. Wesley Says:

I was wondering where he’s been.
