Gerald McCoy, Vinny Curry Don’t Practice

October 17th, 2018

The injury bug has returned to bite the Buccaneers defense.

Practicing outdoors on the sweltering fields of One Buc Palace today — 92 degrees in mid-October! — the Bucs were without Gerald McCoy (calf) and Vinny Curry (ankle).

That’s not a good sign, though it could be if you’re Noah Spence. Curry and McCoy have taken the vast majority of snaps at their respective positions, so this could be another game that tests the Bucs’ defensive line depth.

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, appeared on the injury report with a hip injury but he was not limited in practice at all. Did it occur on the last play of the game, aka one very ill-advised trick play call from the 21 yard line?

Won’t be a huge drop off without Gerald

Down one player, down two players, none of this should matter as all teams are suffering similar issues.

The problem is, last year we sucked on defense and brought every coach back except the D-line coach, same results! We sucked on special teams and brought the same coach back, same results! We changed offensive coordinators and WOW we’re a top 5 offense. We should have expected this outcome! We have players that seem to regress every year and Joe has stated on numerous occasions the secondary coaches can’t develop the talent that is brought in. Why can’t the powers that be see this. Mike Smith should only be the beginning of the coaching purge!

  4. shane247 Says:

Next on the chopping block; Brett Maxie, Jon Hoke, Nate Kaczor and Dave Kennedy.

  5. BucHead5588 Says:

Lets see if it was just mike smiths Scheme before we start chopping other Defensive coaches but we will know within 3-4 games

  6. Easy Says:

More snaps for Nassib whos looked good so far.

  7. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Well you know we don’t have a tall tight end and wide receiver. That’s why we need trickery against a bad defense on the 21 yard line.

Or maybe Koetter feared Winston throwing another int in the end zone to end the game and start a QB controversy.

    Sunday should be interesting.

McCoy had Zero stats last week so he shares the same stat line as Pee Wee Herman although if you took Pee Wee’s Bike He have would at least had one tackle. As a precaution I would check all dance studios and disco bands for McCoys current location.

I wold like to see how bucs defense plays without GMC in the lineup. I like GMC but he’s a little to nice to the enemy like apologizing to the qb for knockin him down or helping players up on the other teams I mean I understand the respect but I think on defense you have to play mean even if you’re not a mean guy. Buc fans please enlighten my on this

  15. cmurda Says:

At first I understood the title of the article as they just decide not to practice. I thought to myself hmmm, it does kind of make sense. Neither one has done anything worth a darn this year.

  16. cmurda Says:

@Stevbobucsfan I could care less if GMC is helping gQB up or whicpering sweet nothings in their ear as long as he is knocking them down. That’s not happening and it especially doesn’t happen when the game is on the line. Sure, he still sees his double teams but with JPP, the hope was that GMC’s game would be raised. Hasn’t happened. The D Line has been terrible all year with the exception of JPP. How Spence could be riding the pine when noone else has done squat on the right side is beyond me.

  17. Chris in WA Says:

So will we finally see Noah Spence come out of the witness protection program?

  18. DB55 Says:

Well I can say this with some degree of certainty with VV anchoring the dline the days of giving up 3rd & 2 or QBs sneaks or 3yrd runs up the middle at the goal line are long gone. Thank goodness. Teams can’t run right at McIceCream anymore for huge gains or big plays.

on the other hand both men’s hair was perfect their hairdresser exclaimed, this should make their dancing video go number one on mtv, the hit video is called 8 short but i got mine, a snoop doggy dog production

I knew GMC was injured, didn’t know Curry was too.

I’d like to see more Nassib, and finally get an answer to what the hell happened to Spence. I find it hard to believe he suddenly can’t rush the pass anymore after doing so fairly well his rookie year with a bum shoulder.

  21. NPRSageBoy Says:

With GMC injured, who is gonna dance with Kwon when Mayfield hangs 40 on them before halftime?

  22. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

Hope 93 is out for the year. I’m done with this cat after watching from the stands in the ATL on Sunday. This idiot embarrass the entire team and fans of the Bucs. So called leader doing that goofy a$$ dance after getting off the field and your team is about to go down for the 3rd game in a row??? Come on man get real this mothf@cka has to go to

  23. Lucious Selmon Says:

    Test

  24. VegasBuc Says:

Our D line needs to watch this video. What we’d give to have QB pressure like this again in Tampa! https://youtu.be/RbJj1bBMsH8

  25. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

Heck, Falcons were down 12 players and still dropped 21 points on us the first half, we’ll be fine, jeesh…….NEXT MAN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

All joking aside, we better hope that we don’t miss these guys. The combo of Allen, Vea, and Gholston better be ready at DT. Nassib and Spence at DE? Go get ’em Bucs!

  27. Joel Says:

Our defense is better without McCoy. And Curry is another Licht bust.

  28. DNI Says Says:

Well you can free up a lot of money if you say goodbye to McCoy. He really hasn’t been as consistent with his play as he is at coming up hurt. He is a nice guy and does a lot for the community, but that does not contribute to Wins on the field.
