Blank Firing Shots

October 10th, 2018

Atlanta owner unhappy with record.

It seems Dixie Chicks owner Artie Blank is not one to suffer losing well.

(Since Blank often refers to internationally-popular JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman as “Irv,” then Joe feels it is only proper to refer to Blank as “Artie.”)

When the Dixie Chicks fell to the Steelers on Sunday, Blank attended the postgame press conference of his coach Dan Quinn. Apparently, per D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, this is normal for Blank.

There, Blank was peppered about the State of the Dixie Chicks, and Blank “winced” at the thought of being 1-4.

Blank was asked if he saw 1-4 coming. He winced and said, “Are you kidding me?”

What do the free-falling Falcons do now?

Said Blank: “We can’t erase the last five games. We have to make adjustments. That’s all you can do. Start out next week and act like it’s 0-0. Nobody wants to hear any excuses. Nobody wants to hear any stories. That’s the nature of this business.”

Joe would hope a previously prized employee of Blank would take the same attitude. Joe doesn’t want to hear again about “communication” issues with the defense. There have been some 33 months to correct this.

In the same amount of time, Joe could become fluent in a dead language like Latin and become proficient in sign language.

(In college, Joe had a job that required a working knowledge of sign language. Years later, the only thing Joe can communicate in sign language is ordering a slice of pizza or cussngi someone out.)

The Bucs need results from their defense, not excuses. The time for excuses has expired.

We will not win this game…

  2. Buc believer Says:

Unlike the Glazer boys who embrace it….

  3. m0j0 Says:

Would love to see the Bucs kick the Falcons down the curb! Go Bucs!

See it coming Says “We will not win this game…”

Spoken like a true hopeful Bucs fan, haha.
Well I say that we WILL win, “Saw It Going.” – So take that!

  5. joestang Says:

when was the last time we beat the falcons? we are due to give them an ass whipping. Should be a shootout.

  6. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Falcons by 50, the bucs taken to the home depot woodshed on sunday – arthur blank as in falcons 50 to blank

  7. Joel Says:

    Falcons window is finally closing.

But they’ll still score 40+ points on Marshmallow McCoy and our two simple coverages for a win on Sunday.

Who knows Smiths basic defense that he hasn’t changed in 20 years better than Matt Ryan?

  8. 813bucboi Says:

well this game just got that much tougher…..no doubt DQ will be coaching sunday like his job is on the line……last time mr blank had a tone like this, heads rolled(smitty&dirk)……

I agree with joe….I wish the glazer boys would put a little pressure on dirk instead of having this wait and see attitude….we see whats going on now…why wait for this slow motion train wreck to happen…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  9. HFXBUC Says:

Is Joe ever going to share what he has heard about the meaning of ‘communication problems’ is?

    Joe! …it’s time to share.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

Ya’ll are cracking me up with the GMC shots! I guess the DT is supposed to cover WRs now too?!

Anyway, Blank sounds like an owner who does not tolerate losing or excuses. Sounds polar opposite of Buc leadership where you hear crickets!
You tell me ONE other organization outside of the Bucs that retains a coordinator who’s team has regressed each year and lives at the bottom of the league? And don’t give me that, “who you going to replace him with?” crap! Anybody with a pulse and some emotion that can make in-game adjustments, that’s who!

  11. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Artie better tell Quinn to start Tandy or the Falcons are going to end up like the Bucs……………….BAD BAD DEFENSE!!!!! All those 2nd tier defensive backs at Atlanta are allowing about 40 points a game. Should be a toss up without you guys having the All Pro Conte on the Field. I will be in the Stands to witness this one. Good Luck may the worse of the worse win!!!!

  12. Joe Says:

Is Joe ever going to share what he has heard about the meaning of ‘communication problems’ is?

    Joe! …it’s time to share.

When all parties involved are no longer employed by the Bucs — or someone else breaks the story. Joe is not going to give someone an unfair scarlet letter. That’s not right.

  13. doolnutts Says:

Buc believer Says — Glazers get a lot of flak… and rightfully so.. BUT this comment does not make much since to me. The Glazer boys have been firing coaching staffs left and right….

  14. SB Says:

” Joe can communicate in sign language is ordering a slice of pizza or cussngi someone out.)”

    Is that Italian for cussing?

  15. Conte Piscatelli Says:

I don’t think Quinn job is on the line this season. He has two things going for him, he coached that team to a Superbowl, and his defense has been absolutely decimated by injuries. I would not be surprised if the falcons defense ends up ranked in the low 20s because they start playing better as the season goes and New players get adjusted. That said, I think Koetter and Smith are less likely to right the ship as the season wears on. Oh and they haven’t sniffed the playoffs in their time here.

  16. Buc believer Says:

@doolnuts… what the hell are you talking about??? If your going to quote me get my quote right! What I said was “UNLIKE THE GLAZER BOYS WHO EMBRACE IT “ sheesh!!!

  17. mike Says:

do yourself a favor…. Bet the over. Both teams will score over 30 Sunday.

  18. BurgDweller Says:

Unfortunately, I have a feeling Falcons will win and this will be the win that turns their season around. That is just how it goes with the Bucs.

  19. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

@Buc believer said “I like Skittles.”

    What did that mean??!!!!!!

    😉

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

After the Bears rout of the Bucs it’s difficult to see a turnaround against a team on the road playing in a do or die situation.

  21. Buc believer Says:

Tampa Bay Demon says “I want to pick up the soap that the players drop in the shower” what does that mean?

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

ATL will go all out to win this game at home. Bucs will be well rested though. Its known Matty Ice can be rattled. Even still, I got this one being real tough for the Bucs. Pressures on Quinn to win a game. Can’t call it. But…If our Defense has not improved……..There will be a..tear in your Beer come Sunday.

  23. Dapostman Says:

The injury riddled Falcons have played the Eagles, Panthers, Saints, Bengals & Steelers. Easy to see how a good team can be 1-4 in todays NFL. Throw in a few key injuries and there you have it. If the Bucs can win this game it will pretty much bury the Falcons for the season.

    #Get After It!

  24. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

The Bucs need results from their defense, not excuses. The time for excuses has expired.—joe

That goes for the whole team specially WINSTON!!!!!!!!

Fitzmagic turned on the spot lights on Winston. He better continue the preseason performance or Joe will eat him up like a pack of wolves the rest of the season.

  25. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

Joe might start to drool by halftime on Sunday. lol

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

Tandyman- I’m going to be mad at you if Tandy torches my Bucs! He should be starting right NOW for us. It’s funny how everybody complained about Conte. He’s out and look at what happened. We actually got worse! Coincidence?! Me thinks not!
Have fun at the game brother!

  27. 1sparkybuc Says:

The Bucs’ offense can beat any team in the league. The Bucs’ defense can lose to most teams in the league. Hopefully the fowlgoons go 1-5.

  28. Cobraboy Says:

The time for excused died 4 games ago. Had the Bucs not been prolific in scoring, the disaster that is this putrid defense would have brought out the pitchforks and torches a month ago.

I want someone to make the argument that may not be one of the worst defenses in NFL history. Hell, we were begging for mediocre and still fail.

Knowing the offense has to score on EVERY possession does not make for an enjoyable game experience.

It’s like the team joined the arena league.

  29. Eric Says:

seems like optimism is in short supply.

  30. TOM Says:

    The Tandyman can.

I don’t think Quinn job is on the line this season.

I don’t think so either, but he’ll be coaching like it….I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a fake punt or FG planned for this game…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

Always appreciated that Blank shows an interest in his team..

Where are the Glazer comments on the Bucs performance?

  33. Mort Says:

I didn’t realize all these rookies and second year players, and new FA additions have been here for 33 months….

  34. theodore Says:

“Years later, the only thing Joe can communicate in sign language is ordering a slice of pizza or cussngi someone out.”

Wait, does giving the middle finger count as sign language? Need to update my resume…

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    We WILL win this game.

It might be closer than it should be, but we will win it.

    btw…how was Blank firing shots?

Where are the Glazer comments on the Bucs performance?
    —————————————————————————————
Transcript from a recent telephone interview –

Glazer – “Hello, Owner of Manchester United, what can you do for me?”

Reporter – “Yes, hello I am the reporter for your noon interview”

Glazer – “Oh okay, ask away”

Reporter – “The question on everyone’s mind is why is Mike Smith still employed”?

Glazer – “Does he play goalie?” “Forward?”

Reporter – “No, he is the DC of the Bucs”

Glazer – “The who? oh yeah the tax shelter, I mean Buccaneers”

Reporter – “Yes, after three consecutive years of dismal results why is he still the DC?

Glazer – “I defer all the questions about the tax, uh I mean Tampa Bay club to Mr. Jason Licht” “But to answer your question it is just a pesky little communication issue and should be resolved this week”.

Reporter – “Three years of communication issues? Are they speaking Swahili? ”

Glazer – “uh look, I just had some coaches walk in and I need to end this call”

Reporter – “Oh, Dirk and Mike just walked in, could you put me on speaker so I could get a quote from them?”

Glazer – “No not them, real coaches, Manchester United Coaches, good bye”

  38. D-Rome Says:

When Blank starts talking it’s never good news for whomever is the Falcons head coach. See Smith, Mike.

  39. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

@Buc Believer — LMAO!!! Was just playin, man. Cheers! Go BUCS

  40. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Bucsfanman My Man. In all honesty I wish Tandy was still a Buc. Yeah it would be nice to see Tandy starting in the secondary. Think the Bucs would be better with him back there. Hated to see Conte get hurt and yes it did hurt the back end I don’t care what anybody says. Quinn needs to put Keith back there cause what they are putting on the field is getting torched every game. Sure wish you were going to Atlanta so I could meet you. Always enjoyed you on here. Take care My Brother!! We will talk after the game… Somebody’s Gotta win right!!!!!

  41. FortMyersDave Says:

Man Arthur Blank looks like he is the offspring of one Vincent Price…..

Anyhow, I hope the Bucs prevail but knowing the Bucs, well the ATL will probably score 40 plus on Smittys D so the question is if Jameis can do what Fitz did in New Orleans and counter with 40 plus of his own?????? The ATL having a savvy guy like Tandy is a plus for the Falcons but lets be honest, after what Chicago did, I think Matty Ice and Company do not need any help from Mr tandy…….

  42. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

They need help from somebody Fort Myers Dave. They haven’t gotten it from anyone else they have tried. You better hope they don’t try him against your Bucs!!!! LOL He might intercept your All World Quarterback Famous Jameis and take it to the House!!!
