What Jameis Should Do

September 3rd, 2018

Suspension plan.

It dawned on Joe Saturday night how now-unemployed camp meat wide receivers could help themselves both financially and with their football skills while still helping the Bucs, despite panhandling for NFL work.

They could keep America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, sharp.

Joe was thinking this Saturday about Bobo Wilson. In a selfish way, Joe hoped Wilson, if cut, would not be picked up. He, of course, was picked up by the Bucs for their practice squad.

We all know Jameis will miss the first three games thanks to NFL strongman Roger Goodell’s sentencing. Wide receivers that just four days ago were being paid to wear Bucs gear could hold the key to keeping Jameis sharp.

Who knows Dirk Koetter’s playbook better than those guys with the possible exception of Vincent Jackson (who is out of football) and former Bucs receiver Louis Murphy?

Jameis should give the newly ex-Bucs receivers (and Murphy) $5,000 each for their troubles and work out daily using the Bucs playbook. Murphy lives locally and to the best of Joe’s knowledge is not retired, having played for the 49ers last season.

For the camp meat receivers like Bernard Reedy, they likely still have dreams of being paid to play football and if a practice squad slot for some team isn’t going to open, they can keep sharp for the AAF, which begins play in February.

Maybe some want to give up football and go to the real world. Understandable. But hey, they are still in shape and you don’t think they wouldn’t mind running routes for $5,000 for the next three weeks rather than working for Amazon?

sounds like a great idea to me

Shot Jamies probably is already out somewhere right now with a few guys running routes and throwing passing and it working out.

  3. Bucnut2 Says:

    GREAT idea joe!

  4. Easy Says:

I would also suggest Donteea Dye but he already used his week of vacation. Unless he’s open after hours and off on the weekends.

    I am available to catch a few….

    America’s Letdown

  7. firethecannons Says:

Jameis don’t need the cast offs, he can make throws to
Tootsie (his labradoodle) in his backyard.

  8. El_Buc941 Says:

@ Marc GET THE BUC OUT IF HERE WITH THAT STUPIDITY! When Jameis comes back and takes the league by storm I want haters like you off the bandwagon. I for one like every other true Bucs fan will be here impatiently waiting for the return of AMERICAS QUARTERBACK. Your probably one of the few that are still but hurt we didn’t give Glennon a shot to win the job.
#HATERS GONNA HATE, POTATOES GONNA POTATE

  9. El_Buc941 Says:

Or maybe he can come down to my hometown of Bradenton and fling it around a bit with the boys at IMG Academy. But foreal though call up a couple of fellas, including Bruce Arians and stay sharp my friend. Stay thirsty my friends.

  10. Buc1987 Says:

Seeing how we both live in Pasco….he can always come over to my house and play catch with me in my backyard…

    Yo J…hit me up!

  11. ben Says:

Winston now has time to move out of state !!

  12. Marlow Says:

Still won’t be ready for week 4.

  13. firethecannons Says:

In all reality, Jameis will come back dialed in, no doubt he already has a plan, but I bet he is staying local to stay by the family–Breoin be smart to not let him outta sight.

  14. adam from ny Says:

jameis won’t be that far away from the team joe…trust me on this one…secret basement meeting in batman mccoy’s mancave etc…jameis will be looped in…even if i gotta be the messenger

  15. adam from ny Says:

i hear jameis is traveling below – on the plane as cargo to new orleans…he will be rigged up with an oxygen tank and duffeled up right next to the helmets and shoulder pads…jameis has gotta roll like maxwell smart nowadays

  16. OneBuc55 Says:

Jameis will be more than ready for the Bears…

Its well known that Winston is football junkie and a workaholic; knowing that, he’ll most likely spend the next 3 weeks scouting Chicago…Jameis is use to organizing workouts at different venus; taking that into consideration, I’m sure he’ll find a way to stay sharp and simulate practice as best as he can…

  17. Godeep66 Says:

Seems like a good idea but his biggest issue is when he gets pressure from the opposing teams DLine. This is when he gets a little careless with the football or makes poor decision with his throws. Makes me wonder if they have a virtual reality software program that would replicate real game situations.

  18. Not there yet Says:

5k that’s it? It’s a good idea but I don’t it’s enough to put whatever career they pursue on hold to save his skin. Winston being suspended is likely a back burner for these guys for the simple fact he’s still in the NFL where they’re trying to get so running routes for him does nothing for their career but really nice thought.

When you call teammates family the only thing that binds that family is the uniform once that’s taken lol your no longer in the family

Have you guys seen this article on the Washington Post. At least someone has high hopes for our Bucs this year. Love what they say about JW in this article. Go Bucs! I believe The Jameisburg Address will be in full effect week 4.

Didn’t Jameis have to turn in his play book for hte duration of the suspension? I thought I read somewhere a while back that suspended players have to do that.

Also, Bobo cannot work out with him…he’s part of the team and Winston is not allowed football-related contact.

    The others are good though.

  21. Joe Says:

LOL. Vegas, not sure you are aware of Norman Chad. 🙂

“@ Marc GET THE BUC OUT IF HERE WITH THAT STUPIDITY!”

Don’t feed the trolls, man. If they get hungry enough, they either move on or get desperate for attention and say something to get themselves banned!

  23. Joe Says:

Also, Bobo cannot work out with him…he’s part of the team and Winston is not allowed football-related contact.

Joe pointed this out in the story.

As for the playbook, 1) What was to stop the Bucs from giving Jameis a hard copy of the playbook before the suspension was handed down? The NFL is not going to come rifling through his house overturning cabinets and cleaning out closets looking for the thing. Sure, Jameis had to turn in his Surface.

Jameis has been in Koetter’s offense for three+ years now. Pretty sure he knows it by memory.

I am sorry to contradict you, but Jameis is rated one of the best under pressure. Those risks he takes? They usually pay off.

People just tend to remember the few times they don’t more than the times they do.

Go ahead, check the stats if you really want to know for sure. Unless your purpose is to troll, in which case I doubt you will want to find out that you are wrong.

Been up since 2:30 am…3/4s asleep and missed it, lol.

  26. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

What jameis should do is simple. Instruct his representatives to fo whatever it takes to get him out of the black hole that is Tampa bay Buccaneers football led by incompetent owners.

  27. Dan Says:

He should prepare to be cut by our new coach after Dirk is fired on black Monday. Enjoy the season. Thanks to the owners for allowing Jason Licht to put us in this situation. Bad coach flaky quarterback and the best 4-12 roster in the nfl. Go Bucs see you in December.

  28. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Hey dan wake up bucs have been embarrassing the sport of football long, long before licht and jameis. They had grest sucess elsewhere. The organization is laughable. Jameis is the most talented buc of sll time right next to sapp. Reality is truly a beotch

  29. ben Says:

as a season tkt holder i can only hope the bucs trade Winston .It is a BIG disappointment to have him as face of the team with such a bad reputation nationally from collage to the pros .. He is not someone you would want your kids to idolize.

  30. firethecannons Says:

Heh ben get the fok off my team you loser–stop with your disappointment–we are over his transgressions and have moved on from that, now WE ARE READY FOR SUM FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    ben

But Its ok for kids to ifolize career losers who set bad example year after year by quiting on coaches and during games but because captain quiter goes to church all is good….

  32. stpetebucsfan Says:

My biggest fear is that Jameis comes back too amped up and reverts to his wild play. But it’s only a fear at this point and seeing him in the pre season was very reassuring. Again I think this suspension has toned him down a lot and resulted in improving his major weakness…playing out of control.

There was only ONE play I recall in the pre season and that was debated ad nauseum as to whether or not he saw the flag before he took the chance…which if I recall resulted in a TD.

For our techies here or perhaps Joe knows…

How do teams protect their playbooks anyway. Yeah they get the Surfaces returned…any hard copy is also turned in…but whats to keep anybody so motivated from simply downloading from the team Surface to a brand new personal Surface.

I assume that the NFL surfaces have some kind of app that locks them but hey…if the Russians who are not really noted for their technical expertise can hack into our elections…there’s probably a smart 14 year old geek…in fact plenty of them…who given the Surface for a night could figure a way to copy them.

  33. Godeep66 Says:

@ben and Dan: you guys are spot on. Will Grier will be our top pick next year. The guy is a leader of men not a pleader to men, like JW. Winocheo must go. Let’s start the chant during Ngo the Eagles game. Better let let have one half of the stadium yell grope and the other half yell er when he suits up for the next home game.

  34. ChipBuc Says:

Really Godeep66 that post was bad even for you. Just go away, you are not a Bucs fan, you are a trolling jerk. To even suggest to do a chant like that is beyond stupid. Your not funny, you serve no purpose to this forum except to cause division and hating. Do us all a favor, go post on another teams forum. Just saying.

  35. Godeep66 Says:

@Chip. You say I am not a Bucs fan. I have Bucs man cave, bucs golf cart, fly Bucs flags on my boat. Hell, I even named my dog Jaboo when we drafted JW. Now I am stuck with the damn name and that sucks because my dog will outlive JW’s stay at Tampa Bay. All of you should be pissed at not only what he did but how he lied to the Fans, his teammates, and the organization. The guy even tried to cover up his wrong doing by coming up with a not so elaborate plan of placing other folks in the Uber ride with him. He then had to ultimately come up with an excuse that every high school sophomore has used….”I was wasted and don’t remember”. Wake up people, he is Ryan Leaf in sheeps clothes.

  36. Walter Seidel Says:

Now I can actually PULL for my home team for three weeks!!! America’s Nowhere To Be Seen QB……thankfully!!

  37. Cgmaster Says:

Ben and go deep pouring on the stupidity today. Ben we get it, you re a Mariota fan boy, move on. As for go deep, nothing but a troll with that stupid comment. Will greer?! That is even more stupid than most of your previous posts. Jameis isnt going anywhere, maybe you two clowns should.

  38. Walter Seidel Says:

I like how when anyone here isn’t a Winston jock sniffer, the personal attacks flow……guess that’s the best way to defend America’s Crotchgrabber.

  39. Cgmaster27 Says:

@Walter none of us care what you think. Keep working on those catchy Jameis nicknames none cares about.

  40. ben Says:

cgmaster .. i dont care if your iq is 27…be cool ..everyone should be able to voice their opinion without your insults..

  41. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

So you Jameis haters, what do you do if Jameis does change and comes back more mature and balanced and becomes that qb the Bucs hoped he could be? What if he leads us to the playoffs and of course then we all know the Bucs won’t cut him? What will you do? Will you tuck your tails and come around to him or continue your senseless hate? Hopefully you guys just go away and don’t come back. You can always go post on Pewterreport . I know if he doesn’t and gets cut I’ll move inn snd how for the next qb, but of course you guys will truly be up here gloating.

  42. Jaycee Says:

Jameis is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Career year!

  43. Godeep66 Says:

@davidlardarsebucfan: I must ask, what has JW shown you in the past three years that leads you to believe he will lead OUR team to the Glory Land?
Was it the eating W’s in Nola?
Was it the entering the field, after being benched, in the same NOLA game? The tapping an opposing player on the helmet?
Was it last year when he ran after a referring after the final whistle in a game. Luckily restrained by Brooks
Was it the Uber crotch grab?
Was it the lies to his teammates and Bucs ownership about the Uber incident?
Was it the fact that he tried to get two of his homies to fabricate the Uber lie?

Can you only imagine how the coaches and Mgmt of the Bucs are sweating bullets about the possibility of him screwing up while on suspension??? The Vegas odds on him screwing up while on suspension.
