Buccaneers 27, Eagles 21

September 16th, 2018

Chris Godwin celebrates his first-half TD that put the Bucs up 20-7

Ya Gotta Believe!

Our beloved Buccaneers are 2-0 for the first time since 2010! Saints? No problem.

World champion Eagles? The Bucs pounded them today at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a freakin’ superstar. O.J. Howard can’t be covered. DeSean Jackson is the scariest deep threat in the NFL. And the Buccaneers defense could be the comeback unit of the week in the NFL.

The Bucs are for real and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise — and they have plenty of room to improve.

The best part of this game for Joe was the fast start, winning the first quarter on both sides of the ball — and the first half. That’s how you come out for your home opener.

Lots of unsung heroes in this game, including the rookie cornerbacks Ryan Smith, along with Jordan Whitehead, manning up and playing solid games with no Brent Grimes and Vernon Hargreaves, and Chris Conte leaving injured. No they weren’t perfect, especially Stewart looking slow on a couple of plays. But the tackling was very good by the young group.

Mike Smith’s blitzes finally got home at times against a stud offensive line. He even got himself off the hook with Joe for a week.

What a victory! If you thought last week was a fluke, you were dead wrong. Bring it on, Steelers!

Stick with Joe for so much out of the locker room and from this epic victory.

    Heart attack game.

  5. DB55 Says:

Complementary football at its finest. Big shoutout to the oline I’m honestly shocked and amazed that Dotson and bennoch held strong. Hats off. JPP with 3 solo tackles and a sack. Whitehead, Carlton Davis and O.J. are the truth.

Monken is the real mvp. Shocked and amazed.

  6. Mike Evans Goat Says:

    Yeah Buddy!!!!!

  7. Bob in Valrico Says:

Agree on both Smith and Whitehead .For those that noticed Smith is a sure tackler and he played preetty good coverage today. He did not hurt the team.

  8. jmarkbuc Says:

Nothing but praise for the D today…They played with guts and heart. Fitting that they were on the field to finish it!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ryan Smith was a beast in this game.

In fact, the entire defense played much, much better. Fitz did it again. Wow. Two in a row.

I predicted 11-5 and NFC Championship Game before the season started. I think one other person here did too. Looks like we saw more than most!

As I said all off season, the bucs would have been 11-5 last year except for two circumstances…kicking in the first few games and defense blowing leads late in games.

Those two are the differences this year.

And once again? No one in the National Media took us to win. They’ll jump on hte bandwagon now.

  10. Player1 Says:

    Fitzmagic is real!

  11. Lamarcus Says:

Bucs are for real man. .true offensive threat

  12. jmarkbuc Says:

    Cynthia Frelund

    “You like that?”

  13. Bob in Valrico Says:

Hump needs to be aware of where he is on the football field. Don’t field the ball on 3 or four yard line. Let it go in the endzone. Not a good time to be aggressive
    on the last kickoff.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Buccfan37 Says
    “Heart attack game.”

    They all are.

The Eagles got super aggressive after the half. I mean, they were hitting to injure. And the refs did not help at all. They clearly favored the Superbowl Champs.

We can draw hope from the fact that Mike Smith did not go into prevent this week, and the defense played as aggressive as the Eagles did. They still are not great, but our defense took leaps ahead in this game.

They smell blood now. They’ll get much better.

  15. Howard Cosell Says:

What’s happening to this team, Joe? Howard doesn’t understand and he’s confused by this “win..n..ing”. Who ARE these guys and what have they done with the real Buccaneers

  16. DBrad67 Says:

    Taaampaa Baaaay

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Looks like the Steelers are going to lose a high scoring game.

  18. DBrad67 Says:

Where are all the opinions now!!!

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Steelers lost.

  20. Tackleblockwin Says:

Ladies and Gents…This team is for real!

  21. Bucsfan951 Says:

I swear koetter was calling the plays at the end.

  22. Bob in Valrico Says:

Listened to Terry Bradshaw on dan patrick recently. Patrick asked him whats a better thing to have: a big brain or a big arm. Fitz is playing smart and including
some big throws while doing it.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

Great game, but Ryan Smith is not a rookie. And if one of the Joe’s had his way, Smith wouldn’t even be on the roster.

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

    Believe Bucs fans! Great win!

  25. TampaBayAllDay Says:

    LETS GOOOOOOOOOO

  26. EA Says:

They are who we thought they were….. Last year.

  27. unbelievable Says:

and they have plenty of room to improve.

And I think THAT is the most exciting part! Go Bucs!

  28. Ed Says:

Great play by Bucs for 3 1/4 quarters. I believe our coaching staff has to change their philosophy and continue to get the ball to Evans, Jackson, Godwin and Howard and throw out the conventional strategies of trying to run the clock out. These guys are thoroughbreds and Fitz is the veteran jockey. Don’t pull it he reins in when you get up 3 scores unless their is less than 8 minutes left. Something great is in these offensive players once the ball is airbound. Let’s keep putting points up so the defense gets a breather

  29. Wesley Says:

Sooooooo much salt from sh*tty Eagle fans, I love it!!!

  30. i like gunslingers Says:

the bucs have trumped all the naysayers and pundits, but we will not get tired of all this winning, FMTBGA= fitz makes the bucs great again

  31. orlbucfan Says:

Offense is maturing. Just like the Tampa 2 Defense. The gang of 3 had a good game on D: GMC, LVD and Kwon. 2-0. Steelers won’t know what hit them. 🙂

  32. Howard Cosell Says:

    @Wesley

    Iggles fans are epic di*ks

  33. Wesley Says:

Seeing a lot of “well we started out 1-1 last year” from Eagle fans ha ha ha!

  34. Bob in Valrico Says:

    Great point Cobraboy.
I am giving it up to defensive coaching staff that developed Ryan Smith, our rookie corners and safety.

  35. Howard Cosell Says:

Defense played a man’s game today

  36. Wausa Says:

    This team does look legit.
Best receivers/tight ends in the NFL and its not even close.

  37. Bob in Valrico Says:

Another Terry Bradshaw moment on Fox:
Terry: On the offenses not getting enough work in pre season and some don’t gel until the 3 rd or fourth game.
    Howie: You’re a smart guy.
Terry: I never heard that before.

  38. Alanbucsfan Says:

Love the way Bucs kept going to Evans in 2nd 1/2 after his drop in 1st 1/2 and fumble in 2nd. TD catch and clutch 4th qtr 1st down!

  39. El_Buc941 Says:

Man can’t wait for Vea,Grimes, AND Jameis to return. Those 3 could be what pushes this team over the hump for good. Alot of Ew-gles fans talking smack on social media everywhere. #GO BUCS #STICK CARRIERS!!!

  40. Howard Cosell Says:

    Iggless mad bro

  41. BoJim Says:

Can’t wait to watch all the league highlights tonight. Smiling all the way. Some crow will be eaten.

  42. Pickgrin Says:

    Great Win!!

    Bucs are legit.

I never doubted that this talented Bucs team would show well in 2018.

    2-0 and here we GO…

  43. El Buco Realisto Says:

The “real” fans are wondering if Joe will be as hard on the running game, as he has been against the defense????????

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Gettinthebucs Says:

Can’t believe what I’m seeing so far this season. Man wait till we get healthy. We’re already a good team right now. Getting guys back like Vea and Grimes is going to help. Lastly I’m a big Jameis fan (sadly also a nole fan) but if Fitz plays like this next week he’s gotta stay on the field. Jameis can still be the future but you might as well let Fitz keep rolling.

    Pickgrin Says:

Bonzai – Told you the same thing yesterday. Ryan Smith isn’t going anywhere. He’s an exceptional “gunner” and sticks on the team on that basis alone at his salary level. He’s not a finished product at CB either.

Ryan Smith was a beast in this game.

  46. LostinPa Says:

Now we see how they handle being taken seriously. Can they stay focus once the hype train starts rolling. Prior years point to no. Maybe this will be the best impact Fitz can have on this team. Party in February. Until then just smile then get back to work.

  47. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Hell of a game!! Plenty to work on but damn what a turn around!! Got to stay focused, get healthy, work on the rush game, pass rush, and secondary! Let’s give a shout out to Ryan Smith! Special teams ace today and not bad in press and off coverage! Carlton’s davis got better as the game when on. Files made a perfect throw to the corner but overall you can see the development and learning curve for the two rookie corners! Go Bucs!!!

  48. Jeffbuc Says:

2-0 without are starting qb or 1st or 2nd round pick touching the field yet. Wow just wow yet the taking heads will still keep there jobs saying we will get the first overall pick and we are the second worst team in the league. Now we will be top ten in all there power rankings and they will say they knew this offense was going to be good. Now beating the super bowl champs and nfc south champions good. Where are all the buc trolls where did you go all offseason we had to hear how bad we suck. We are going 0-3 without winston. Now worse case scenario we go 2-1 out of the gate. And we sit all alone in first place in the nfc south.

  49. AB4L Says:

Don’t forget… Philly had 10 Days to prepare for us and were ineffective. Kudos to the players and coaching staff for making watching these games fun again!!! As it stands right now, we are the only 2-0 team in the NFC ( pending conclusion of Rams game)… GO BUCS!!!!

  50. Dapostman Says:

3 rookie defense backs??? Reminds me of the 1981 Niners, Dwight Hicks and the Hot Licks! Oh and that team beat Cincinnati in the Super Bowl. It can be done with rookies in the secondary. Believe it!

    #Get After It!

  51. Proudbucsfan Says:

I knew they were going to win. Buccaneer Bonzai, I am the other one that said we were going 11-5 I love it 2-0 bring on the Steelers.

  52. Gene Deckehoff is my hero Says:

    Great victory!

  53. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Whoa…what happened to 0-3?

This team clearly has talent…but I’m seeing something else…this team seems truly tight…like they are all playing for each other. If that’s true….watch out!!!!

  54. BuccaneEric75 Says:

AB4L, the Eagles didn’t have ten days to prepare for us. We didn’t play till Sunday. We had more time to study their film.

  55. Dirty Bucs Says:

It’s so refreshing to watch a good offense in Tampa Bay…and for that offense to be the Bucs. haha

    Go Bucs!

  56. Anonymous Says:

If these rookie cbs continue to improve from game to game as much as they did from week one to week two this team could get scary good soon.

  57. Bobby Says:

Great game! Fitz has the team until he gets injured or loses the magic. So many weapons I don’t see him slowing down. He’s never played with receivers like this and an O-line that protects him. He’s smart and capable. He doesn’t get rattled and do stupid stuff like toss the ball up for grabs. I don’t want a switch in QB’s right now. Ride this magic carpet.

  58. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Keep “Line Em Up N Knock Em Down” Baby!

    #GOBUCS!

  59. Buc1987 Says:

    This team is legit…..Bonzai….might…..be right?

    What’d he say 11-5?

    There’s too many weapons….

  60. Christopher Schiefen Says:

One, you have to understand, MJ pulled up, expecting the cutback move from Agholor, which had burned him earlier in the game. At that point though Nelson was at full speed and MJ had to shift up again. That said, MJ is probably a safety in 2 years though Ronde was never that fast either.

  61. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Funny. We are already halfway to the win total that the media predicted we would win. Good thing we don’t pay attention to those morons…
