Is Fitz Really Safe?

August 11th, 2018

Jameis-like.

A lot of Bucs fans who have gone mental and want to run off America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, in favor or Ryan Fitzpatrick because, in part, he can be sloppy protecting the football, better check themselves.

In short, types X’s and O’s guy Andy Benoit of theMMQB.com, careful what you wish for.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will fill in while Winston serves his three-game suspension to start the season, also has a reputation for recklessness. It should be noted, however, that in his 4 ½ games last season, Fitzpatrick mostly operated within himself. His accuracy could still be erratic, and he’ll always play with a caffeinated energy. But head coach Dirk Koetter can trust his 35-year-old backup with the entire playbook.

One thing Fitz does that Joe is sure Bucs coaches would have a stroke if Jameis attempted as often is pulling the ball in and taking off.

Kordell Stewart, Fitz is not. But damn, Joe loves the devil-may-care attitude, even if that could get Fitz killed.

The way Jameis threw the ball Thursday night, he’s not going anywhere unless some suit at One Buc Palace flat out loses his fool mind.

JOE, All the suits at One Buc Circus Tent have proven for nearly 2 decades they have NO mind to lose…. On field results PROVE that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Run Fitz run. Folks baby QBs too much nowadays. Josh Freeman was a much more effective QB when he was a threat to run. So was Jameis. And so is Fitz.

  3. Kobe Faker Says:

“Like Kobe Faker has stated, keep an eye on this years NFL rookie QB class and how quickly they change their franchise hopes and ambitions …

the success of Baker, Darnold, Rosen will weigh alot in the minds of the Glaser Boys

“If we get a top 5 pick in the 2019 draft, The Tampa Bay Bucs will grab a QB”

    Kobe Faker

  4. SteelStudBuc Says:

    @ Defense Rules

Definitely Jameis should run more. Drop the left shoulder and roll or slide. Just don’t get hit much.

  5. Teddy pls Says:

Can we trade for Teddy Bridgewater please

  6. Herbiebuc Says:

Jameis is going to be a buc for the future like it or not he has too much talent!
He’s young and still is learning (on and off the field)
I just really dislike kobefaker ! Like why are you here! ?
Obviously you not with us you just causing distractions every body with eyes can see Jameis is the best quarterback talent wise we ever had why run him away so some other team like the patriots or steelers pick him up and win more Super Bowls? That’s just logical faker

  7. AlteredEgo Says:

Please put Ryan Griffin on 1/2 of Noah’s diet…

  8. Adambomb418 Says:

Incase you didn’t realize the crop of qbs next year are projected to be really weak.

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

    @joe

No one is running jw3 out the building!!!!! He is doing it on his own!!!!!! By hurting the team on the field and off the field!!!!!

Now he had a very good game last Thursday!!!!!! Now we need to see another and then after that, another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Marine Buc Says:

This suspension of Winston should help the Bucs in the long run. Sign Winston to a long term deal while his “perceived value” is low. Get a deep discount and use the extra money to build the defense.

It’s just like the stock market. You buy low and sell high… Winston is a risk but the reward could be enormous!!!

Fitz is a solid reserve QB. Nothing more.

  11. Kobe Faker Says:

Kobe Faker knows more than most how talented JW3 is…

    But Kobe sees things

The Glazer boys are businessmen and always have to have options…they wont sit knowing JW3 can be permanantly banned at anytime….too much of a risk when you are multi billion dollar company

Kobe is the real Realist and you have to be blind if the Glazer Boys are not viewing from afar the quick success/turnaround of the franchises of the 2018 QBs

    SMHLOL….

  14. Michael Wright Says:

Fitz will be fine. As long as this Defense is improved, plays aggressive, gets sacks, turnovers and knocks people on their A’s hard. The 1st 3 games will be a challenge though. If we can somehow go 2-1, we will be fine. Start 0-3 and we are in Bigtime trouble.

I think that’s what was said about the 2016 draft class as well.
I remember hearing how it was nothing compared to the 2015 draft class.

Wentz and Goff surprised a few people wouldn’t you say?

  16. Conte Piscatelli Says:

What I like about Fitz is that the ball comes out quickly, maybe it’s because cause Jameis is looking to push the ball up field, but he holds the ball a long time. I’m hoping that maybe Jameis picks up on some of Fitz tenancies to get the ball out on time and be more decisive about running.

  17. Brandon Says:

At some point you need to realize that Fitz was considered a very good runner and has been a scrambler since entering the league. It is not a surprise that he is mobile.

  18. I Bleed Pewter Says:

If we win with Fitz at the beginning of a tough schedule and then Winston comes in and we lose during the softer part of our schedule I wouldn’t be surprised if they did move Winston. When he gets his opportunity again, and he will, he better play turnover free football, and win.

  19. JohnLynchBrokeMyBody47 Says:

He’s a methodical scrabbler. He’ll tuck and run especially if the defense is playing man coverage. The other thing I love about his scrambles is that he won’t force a pass and instead will opt for some positive yardage. It’s all about down and distance on the offensive side of the ball, and Fitz manages that well.

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Herbiebuc…Kobe Faker is one of the biggest fans of Jameis here, well him and the departed giraffe.

  21. Realbucfan941 Says:

    Kobe is a realist? Really?!

Then you should realize jameis is nowhere close to a permanent ban. You heard of Josh Gordon?? Yeah that guy can play this year. … Close to a permanent ban lol. Just because of 1 3 game brokered suspension…. Ok. Kobe may be the realist clown for saying such nonsense.

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    reality-is-a-beotch (tmaxcon) says:

“Suspend me all you want. I’ll just come back with a new name!”

  23. Kobe Faker Says:

JW agreed to the NFL whatever the next suspension will be because JW knows there is 110% that another incident will not ever happen

Jw is a good dude. VERY VERY VERY immature on and off the field but a good guy

JW is slow to mature and his prime will be later years

When JW gets all the hype and excess emotion out of him than he will win superbowls with that god given golden arm

JW3 prime and as the best NFL QB years will start in his 30s

  24. Oneilbucs Says:

Man fiz is not a good quarterback. He lost with a good defense n New York. Why do y’all have so much confidence in this guy? The bucs won 2 games with him against bad teams. But we will see go ask the pass 7 teams he played for. I rather see Ryan Griffin then Fizpatrick you know what he is . Try someone new . Why keep giving these old trash quarterbacks chance after chance you know what’s going to happen if we go down by 10 or 14 points n the 3rd or 4th quarter we are done . That’s the only question I have to ask ? Not just for us but the NFL.

  25. Ghastly Bucs Says:

There is a difference between running right and running recklessly. Running right makes you a dangerous QB and has been proven for years to be great for a team. Running recklessly puts the QB in danger and is not good for the team.

  26. Ftmyersbuc Says:

Would you all agree that Fitz is faster than jameis? Madden has Fitz 71 speed and jameis 79 yeah right. They have all the buc players rated so bad it’s ridiculous.
