No Longer “Quarterback Of The Future”

July 8th, 2018

One thing lost by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, following his three-game suspension was the label Lovie Smith once slapped on Mike Glennon: “quarterback of the future.”

Of course, Lovie was full of baloney when he uttered that line. But the Bucs really did universally consider Jameis to be their quarterback of the future until his latest round of nonsense.

Now, per JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman, Jameis is the quarterback of the present.

The Sage of Tampa Bay sports and Tampa Bay’s only Pro Football Hall of Fame voter says Jameis is in 100-percent-prove-it mode this season among the powers at One Buc Palace. Kaufman believes Jameis’ Tampa Bay future is in serious doubt and the Bucs should be putting in the work necessary in preparation to draft a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Harsh talk from Kaufman, but it is sage logic.

There’s no doubt that the sad happenings surrounding Jameis’ new three-game suspension for inappropriate sexual touching of an Uber driver lost him some rope at One Buc Palace.

If Jameis has a nothing-special 2018, and the Bucs lose more than they win, Team Glazer will no doubt be wondering why they should fork over $21 million next year for a losing, 58-game veteran QB that isn’t improving despite a pile of stud weapons.

Just find a way to protect the football and win, Jameis. It’s really that simple.

Way to step up Shelton and take the brunt of Jameis’s stupidity that game. Idk how the hell we are gna get a QB next year. I don’t think we’ll pick lower than tenth this coming draft.

  2. tval Says:

The ONLY way you make jameis “improve” is by taking the weight of the franchise off his shoulders. He’s consistently asked to do more than he should..starts with run game and defense. Dallas with Zeke, year one, were super SOLID…gave the d a break and had the league on its heels…turned to a clown show when depending, solely, on dak..wentz was TRULY mediocre without the #1 run game and a top 2 defense with pederson comfortable calling the BEST offense in the league…period..The bucs need weapons in the trenches

  3. Sweeptheleg Says:

They are definitely gonna lose more than they win.
    No doubt about it.

  4. JMan5 Says:

Get Bridgewater for next year. Draft Tua in 2020.

  5. Rick Says:

Having worked with Q for 5 seasons I can assure you he is a gentleman and good hearted. But screw up in the wrong way he can and will tear someone a new A$$ real quick.

Gee… Where do you muster all of your positive Information? Do you have a Crystal Ball?

I my humble opinion… I suggest we wait out the season and Take Each Match Up, One Game at a Time… Combining Bucs changes on Defense, especially Coach Buckner and the Increased maturity and depth at Receiver, along with potential improvements in the Run Game, There are Many positives… If Ryan Fitz, with his 14 years experience plays like a Brad Johnson, there is positive that accompany Game management…. Much will reply on Dirk and Todd Monken developing a Game plan that fits the current offense…

Anyone can Live with a Negative Attitude, but Winners Choose a Positive Approach to ALL Circumstances!

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Losing mentality on display…..talking about the draft…..a losing season….fear of the first 3 games without Winston….

    Go Fitz…..then, Go Jameis…Go Bucs….

  8. Lunchbox Says:

Drew Lock from Missouri. 43 TD’s last season alone. 43.

  9. Buc4L Says:

Haters need to take it to the house, enough with the negative BS. When the BUCS ball out this season all you bandwagon fans and website thrills will go silent!!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  10. ARGH_M8E Says:

I’m with Jman5 on – Get Teddy!!! Jameis can take his BS elsewhere… I’m sick of his stupidity. We’ve been a big enough of a joke and laughing stock of the NFL for long enough. Kick the tires on Teddy Bridgewater and move on from this buster!

  11. Dooshlarue Says:

I’m MORE excited about this season BECAUSE Jamies isn’t starting.
Don’t you all remember how he plays early? Nervous, overthrows, fumbles for no good reason.
    Geez…..

The Soiled Messiah needs to sit and watch, maybe he’ll learn something.
    Maybe not.
But like he said….. God is good.

    So there’s that.

    Go Bucs!

  12. JameisNOT Says:

Will Grier out of West Virginia is the real deal. He is a stud that had his own issues while at UF, but at least it was not assault on a female. PLUS you know he has some degree of intelligence if he was once enrolled at UF, Harvard of the South.

  13. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

If they lack the balls to cut him now, then at least demote him to 3rd string and draft an actual QB with good character next year. I can’t cheer for this turd or any team he’s the QB for.

  14. WestminsterCoBucsFan Says:

The bucs don’t need to worry about a future qb!!!
That would be someone else’s job by then…

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I am so sick of this stuff. I’m more sick of the hypocrisy than anything else.

  16. Waterboy Says:

Unfortunately this year’s class of college QB’s is not all that great.

  17. Waterboy Says:

I think they’ll easily pay Winston the 21 mil for 2019 but also think they’ll have some real competition sitting behind him next season.

  18. bucsrealist Says:

“Harvard of the south” you my friend are an idiot. Let me guess, Vernon Hargreaves is great too.

  19. Bobby M. Says:

I’ve said on this site multiple times…..the Bucs should have been investing in another QB simply to hedge themselves for this exact situation. Frankly if you’ve committed to a rebuild with a QB, i like what the Redskins did with Griffin and Cousins…..draft two, make it a competition and instill accountability like every other position. Winston was handed the keys with no competition whatsoever…..He’s done what he’s always done and assumed he’s bigger then the team, rules, laws, etc….Now the Bucs have a dilemma….you fire everyone after this season but keep Winston, you kind of act as an enabler by blaming others for his failures…..You keep everyone in place, your fans may throw in the towel if its another terrible season. Bucs are in must-win mode which amps up the pressure on everyone…..Winston has proven he doesn’t perform the great when he starts pressing…Koetter must win while also evaluating Winston. This team needs the defense to really shine to take the spotlight off of Winston and keep the games close.

  20. Grt1 Says:

You guys are stupid a$$ hell talking about drafting other QBs. Jameis is setting franchise records every season he plays. Man this is the most football ignorant fan base or I hate to say it but hey let’s point out the elephant the most “closet racist “ fan base I have ever seen. This kid and yes he’s still a pup is by all means an idiot, but he’s still a kid. He’ll grow out of it and if not the league with force him out with suspensions. If you guys want role models go to the local park and cheer for these youth sports coaches. Or our local first responders. Don’t put a 23yr old on a pedestal and then call for his demise when he doesn’t fulfill your moral standards.

  21. Pickgrin Says:

“Jameis is in 100-percent-prove-it mode this season ”

Just like every other player (not drafted the last 2 years) and coach on this team!

If Donovan Smith stinks out loud in 2018 (like Pamphile did last year in his contract year) do you really think he will be brought back and paid big bucks?
    McCoy? LVD? Kwon? Humphries? JPP?

Every single player on this team who is due Big $ in 2019 without guarantees “is in 100-percent-prove-it mode this season”.

Its the same for the entire coaching staff. Succeed or be fired. PROVE that you can coach a fairly talented team to at least 8 wins or the axe is surely coming.

Winston’s position of needing to play well in order to earn the right to come back with a big salary is the opposite of unique. It also has basically nothing to do with Ubergate which is the implication here – SMH

” I’m more sick of the hypocrisy than anything else.”

    True THAT!

  24. WestminsterCoBucsFan Says:

I hope it doesn’t happen, but It’ll be funny to see all the jameis haters blaming the defense or lack of running game or missed field goals if the bucs start 0-3
    Such an idiotic fan base

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Pickgrin

I would agree that Jameis’ contract year is primarily focused on his play going forward but to say it has nothing to do with Ubergate is a stretch.

It is a matter of trust….both on an off the field….I’d say most QBs long term contracts are negotiated without the off-field trust issues. Not only should the Glazers protect themselves from future bad behavior but they should negotiate a mid salary prove it contract going forward.
I would suggest somewhere around a 4 year 60 million deal. I doubt other teams would offer more under the circumstances.

  26. WestminsterCoBucsFan Says:

Any contract he signs will have a clause attached…I don’t think he’ll sign a contract for 15m/ let’s not forget how much qbs are making these days. Mike Glennon signed a similar deal with the bears

  27. Roy T. Buford Says:

The picture says a lot. I don’t think there is anything Jameis can do over the next year (or two) to earn back “QB of the future,” most accurately, “face of the franchise.” Sad is he had that handed to him when he walked in the door if only he kept his nose clean off the field and played up to par. He couldn’t do that. But let’s be clear…and I disagree with Ira–right now he can’t even be “QB of the present” because of a three game suspension (that can still go to six from what we read–pending Winston’s therapy/conditions being met). That means NO ONE can count on Winston. We certainly can’t put any stock into confidence he’ll be around this year–and he’s already thrown away the first quarter…crtically important…for his part. That’s not a franchise QB, that’s not a leader; that’s not a face of the francise. There is no reason at all to lock him up to a long-term contract this year–and no reason to assume he gets the option year and $21M that comes with that. How can this clown be “America’s QB” when he is the QB or nothing?

  28. tnew Says:

Anyone actually remember this game???? quick refresh, as I think the headline juxtaposed with the picture is leading the reader in the wrong direction.

    Quick game recap:

Panthers get a TD on a return, a score from a pass interference on a fake punt and are helped by the much covered Chris Baker offsides, and a late Cam Newton TD after he fumbled the ball but had time to pick it up and fall into the endzone Lest we not forget Koetter going to Doug Martin (when Barber was effectively running) to seal the win when up 19-15 and a late missed field goal (that Koetter coached for) to give the Panthers a short field. Please ignore Winston passing for 367 yards, going 21-27, with a TD and 0 INTS. This loss was totally on Winston’s immaturity.

With 35 seconds, one time out on the 25, Kevin Pamphile gets beat so bad the DT gets a free run at Winston who fumbles (pocket was collapsing, no receiver out of the break, ball should’ve just been launched somewhere no doubt, but he had Evans on a potential game breaking play if could’ve found another half second, if he was thinking this, it was a good play given game situation) Winston then fights and comes out of the scrum with the ball, but possession had already been “determined”

I think the craze that came out during this time was the culmination of all of the frustrations, plus knowing that he really couldn’t do much more to win. This craze MUST be moderated. This HAS to be a learning event. Time will tell.

People often cite this game as one that Winston’s composure “lost” the game for the Bucs. Go rewatch this game, turn the volume down and make your own conclusions.

This is one of my frustrations with the Winston on-field hate. Does he need to reign in his super (originally used the adjective uber there but…) competitive nature to become as successful as he can.. Absolutely, not a doubt. However, I would much rather have a young guy with the passion to reign in than a young guy that is so professional, it makes you wonder if he truly wants to win..

If Winston has 13 games like this next season, the Bucs not only go to the playoffs, they will win games in the playoffs.

  29. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Pickgrin…you fail to get the real implications here. If Jameis was playing as he has…4K yards a season, dynamic playmaker on the field, with just a need to fix some things like bad decisions and fumbles…he’d still be the face of the franchise going foward. He could probably have a slightly down year and the Bucs would likely NOT move on from him just yet. But the Uber issue and more importantly, the circumstances surrounding it (lying to his employer, placing blame on others, showing the kind of company he keeps, etc) makes his character far below what’s expected to be face of the franchise. After all, this was the SECOND major time his character has validly come into question.
So even if he has a good year on the field when he finally comes back from hurting his own team (yet again), the Bucs may still figure he’s not worth the trouble. Jameis had it all handed to him and he’s blowing it big. That is NOT like the other players and coaches.

  32. RustyRhinos Says:

With our Savior not playing the first 3 games, possibly more. What else is there to do? Are we not to support the rest of the team, coaches, GM and his staff? How about the owners too. Mr. Winston before any of the current NFL personal conduct Issues, needs to play like he has never played before here. He needs to resurrect his Winning ways, cut out his ball security issues both in his hands and passes he makes. Without any improvement in his ball security he will not get the big contract from the Bucs. He may get a contract offer but not the 100+ million the “franchise QB’s” are getting. He really needs to WIN games, yes not all of the losses have been his fault alone. The Defense has played it’s own worst enemy many games. Still Mr. Winstons throws into double or triple teams neads to stop, take the check down that is open. I keep hearing how the team can not even think about not keeping Mr. Winston past this season. When Mr. Winston plays this season the heat and the microscopes are ALL ON HIM. Like it or not. The 13 or less games he is to play this season are the most important games of Mr. Winstons life with the Bucs. I hope he keeps his hands clean the reminder of his NFL career.
    Go Bucs!

  33. BrianBucs Says:

America’s Crotchgrabber and Liar should have already been released. He’s NOT the QB of the future here and should NOT even be the QB of the present.
See if you can get Nick Foles. If not, start heavy research on the guys who will be in the draft next year

  34. Pickgrin Says:

TBBF – Winston will get the contract that he earns with his play.

If he plays reasonably well in 2018 – he will be back in 2019 for $21M (5th year option). If he turns into Freeman and sucks out loud. Then he will be released. If he plays great in either 2018 or 2019 – he will get a long term contract at $27-30M per year with nice guarantees. There will be language in the contract that protects the team against having to pay if any additional suspensions occur.

Its not that hard… and like I said – “has basically nothing to do with Ubergate”.

  35. stpetebucsfan Says:

Casey Kasem used to end his AT40 radio show with a great saying…

“Reach for the stars but keep your feet firmly planted on the ground.”

We reached for the stars with Jameis. Now it’s time to get our feet firmly back on the ground.

    WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?

If it was a one time deal….absolutely chastise him and move on…but this came after all the other stuff.

That picture of Quarles saving Jameis season is as indicative as anything why Jameis Winston has to go! If he gets to the official and got hands on him what then? How long would Goodell suspend a player who actually roughed up an official?

It’s not the sex…although getting accused twice in three years or so indicates something is wrong here. Gee could it be what both incidents have in common…out late at night with guys of questionable character…alcohol…maybe a little Molly or some other party drug…

His decision making is simply flawed both on and off the field.

Bottom line….even if nothing happens…THIS IS NOT GOING AWAY…it’s not my fault, it’s not something I’m cheering for…just observing IMHO. We need to wake up and smell the coffee.

So it has been said by Jameis supporters that if he wins this all goes away.
What if I stipulate and accept that …you guys tell me how many wins it’s going to take to wipe the smell off this turd and erase a reputation that has been years in the making?

10? 11? Certainly playoffs are a must! Even without the distractions…do we think this team is talented enough to overcome Jameis taking himself out of the first three games?

  36. Onetrickpony Says:

I dont care one flip about stats, its the win loss record that counts
    Cut um

  37. Roy T. Buford Says:

If Winston has a good year he may very well get 2019’s enhancements. But even if he plays well when he comes back from hurting his team (yet again) this year, and does well in 2019 (if he’s still around), the Glazers will likely still not lock him up long term for at least a few years–contract clauses or not. They will need to regain any sense he deserves to be the face of their football team. That’s not going to happen in a year, maybe not even two. I believe they can and will use the franchise tag to buy some more time instead. Keeps him on the roster, let’s them keep their options open. Winston made an already serious image problem worse–don’t believe me–just ask all the sponsors and endorsements he didn’t have before, and now will likely never have.

  38. Destinjohnny Says:

  39. tnew Says:

Dare everyone to go back and rewatch the game this picture came from. Week 16 versus Panthers.

If Winston plays this way, every week, from week 4 on, not only do the Bucs make the playoffs, they win playoff games.

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I believe you are all overestimating the value of your opinions…and your actual commitment to those opinions.

First, the Bucs know winning cures everything. If Jameis comes back and wins, none of this matters. Second, if he starts winning, all of you who are actual Bucs fans will support him.

And I may as well point out the elephant in the room. Although you speak against Winston’s actions, most of you know a girl has had to stop you from going too far at some time or another. So unless you are willing to confess to being sexual offenders, you are hypocrites. Plain and simple.

  41. WestminsterCoBucsFan Says:

Just looked up dicks sporting goods weekly jersey sales report, jameis is still the teams top seller. Maybe there’s hope for this fan base after all

Periodically though they seem to fall into the black hole in cyberspace. No idea why but can’t blame Joe for filtering some of these comments.

  43. Roy T. Buford Says:

Don’t forget, the Glazers just put over $100M of their own money into our stadium for upgrades and it was all part of good PR to be fully into the community and restore a fan base and exciting gameday experience…bringing in Winston as the face of the franchise…is part of all of this. Lovie was supposed to kick that all off at the same time renovations were starting (Bucs wanted to bring back the SB era team loyals–where Lovie was part of that era of stout D), and he didn’t cut it. No matter what you think of the Glazers or Winston, it’s a no brainer that he has set the Bucs back WRT community image. And he’s put the Glazers specifically in a tough spot. As much as I detest Tom Jones, he was right about that part. The Glazers are not about to jump into a long term deal with Winston given his track record, and keeping him at arms length woudl be a good strategy (for now). Those who keep saying he’s been a model citizen for the past several years fail to see Winston’s deception and dishonesty behind the Uber issue…not to mention poor leadership on the field that has hurt his team just last season…and now into this season. A few public events and photo shoots are quickly decimated by the other stuff.

  44. Pickgrin Says:

“when he comes back from hurting his team (yet again)”

Roy – WTF are you babbling about with this “yet again” BS?

  45. Defense Rules Says:

@Bonzai … “Bucs know winning cures everything. If Jameis comes back and wins, none of this matters.” Beg to differ Bonzai, but T-E-A-M-S win. Individual players just contribute to that win … or loss. Raheem had it right: ‘We’re going to tolerate him until we can replace him’. That’s the position Jameis has now put Bucs’ ownership, GM & coaches in.

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

This may well go down as his best draft.

Reaching is a myth. You take the guys on your board when you have the best chance of getting them. The media rankings are nearly always wrong. This year especially. All the mocks were wrong outside of the top three. Even Mayock.

Look no further than Marpet, who draft rankings had down as a fifth rounder, and many criticised Licht for taking in the second round pro bowl player.

It doesn’t matter where a player is taken, so long as he works out.

And considering most GMs are lucky to hit on a third of their picks, Licht batting at 50+ percent is outstanding.

The fact that you’re claiming everybody is being hypocrites tells us all more about you than it is really about you calling us out. I’ve had a lot of friends going up and I never once had any of them go through a sexual assault claim. Let’s not act like that’s the standard of behavior.

  49. Greg Says:

correction. The $1 million job should have read a multi million dollar job. So yes Winston should have been extra careful and have the right people around him him

  50. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Defense Rules

I actually agree that teams win games. But we are talking about fan perspective here, and as you know, fans like to place to blame on on player, and they like to give credit to one player.

If Winston runs an offense well enough to win games, he’ll go nowhere and the fans will be glad of it for the most part. There will always be malcontents, but there will only be a few. Of course they’ll create 5 or more usernames here to make it seem like their numbers are greater. Like they are now.

  55. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Pickgrin, that’s another ridiculous assertion Winston apologists use. They like to use hypocrit, moral outrage, lack of prowess, etc to demean the posters opposing keeping Winston around in his current capacity. First, I think we all have skeletons. I know I do…there are always things we’ve done that we’d hope didn’t get out, or wouldn’t. I know that fits me. Things we’ve said or done that we regret. Yup. But I am willing to bet the vast majority of people did not commit asault or abuse (depending on what State you are talking) or other felonies as part of their skeleton collection. Most don’t concoct elaborate shemes to decieve when caught. Another common one used by Winston apologists is to try to compare this incident to being on a date, and you wanted to get to seond base. Totatl BS Some think it’s okay now by saying “Hey he took his hand away”. You have no idea how stupid you all look. My favorite one is when people say Jameis should not be the face of the franchise, team captain, or even on the team, his apologists make the “either or” argument, like you either get Winston or we can have no one good at all. That’s another stupid comment. So I leave you with this: This issue with Winston is not a morality move for me as much as it is a smart business issue and wanting my hometown team to have a positive image with my family (I spend a lot of money with family, friends, and clients going to see the Bucs) and fellow Americans–a significant majority who clearly see Winston is as very unsavory–an they have ample reason to. For those who have family members who were assaulted or abused, and carry it with them for good, I’d think they have every right to feel the way they do, too. Don’t you?

  56. Greg Says:

it’s common sense bonsai. People probably should be more careful when they have a multi million dollar contract in front of them as opposed to working at McDonald’s. And again most peoples first move is not grabbing a woman between the legs. if you are on a date and you try to kiss a girl and she says no and you stop obviously that’s not sexual assault and that’s not going to get a suspension. Trying to grab a complete stranger between the legs while shes doing her job driving your drunk ass home is entirely diffrent. If you don’t know the difference that’s your problem.

  59. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Pickgrin…you clearly don’t think like normal people. You ask about “yet again” babble. I will spell it out for you. Winston hurt his team by his behavior at FSU by suspension and negative media coverage. Put his coaches and administrators in bad positions. He hurt his team here in the NFL bad sportsmanship on the field several times…penalties, charging a ref, mixing it up with Lattimore to get his team mate suspended, making the Bucs the national spectacle with eating Ws and making stupid comments during his community events…nothing there as serious as the coverups and outright lies he’s done recently, and nothing as serious as why he’s currently huring his team because of what the NFL found…but hurting his team nonetheless.

Yes, moron, “yet again” hurting his team*.

    * With a losing record no less.

  60. Joe Says:

Please ignore Winston passing for 367 yards, going 21-27, with a TD and 0 INTS.

    LOL

That’s like saying “Please ignore a running back running for 270 yards and three touchdowns without a fumble, or a pitcher throwing for 13 strikeouts and allowing just two hits.

Only the PFF tribe would try to gave one ignore a QB having a solid game.

  61. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Bonzai…so you are suggesting we all go up and grab females..who are strangers…in the privates while they at work? Don’t be stupid like the others here and compare this to a date. You are better than that. Don’t even suggest that maybe they were flirting and so that’s okay then. Don’t suggest that oh, we don’t know. And how stupid to say that since Winston stopped after she said something, that’s okay. The NFL conclusions are the official report. And this isn’t the first time for this man.

No, you cannot just go grab a perfect stranger’s genitals under the assumption that it’s okay until told otherwise. i suggest you try that one and see where it gets you. Actually, for the sake of the crime victim, don’t to that.

Could have drafted Rosen this year.

  63. Bob in Valrico Says:

    Tnew
3 turnovers is a losing formula for most teams to overcome. If jameis can limit
this and be more consistent early in the game, late comebacks will not be a necessity so often. These turnovers put an unnessesary burden on the defense
and certainly can’t help their stamina. Especially with the injuries and talent level last year. Could be the reason Jason went after depth on defense this year.

  64. MTM Says:

This year is more about Jameis growth and less about his Uber groping. Its a contract year and the Glazers have to be concerned with signing a big contract with Jameis. I don’t think he’s the guy. Too many bad decisions on and off the field.

  65. AHBuc Says:

    MTM

The Glazers are not bright, they’re soulless too but that’s another thing. Even if the Bucs go 6-10 the morons who pay the rent at One Buc Palace will make another mistake and hand out 23 million to him. You should absolutely remove any faith you have in the Glazers, several years ago actually.

  66. Bucsace Says:

Winston will be a backup QB somewhere in the NFL in 2019…….that said………I hope he gets a chance at being a starter again…….and wish him success

  67. Defense Rules Says:

@Bonzai … “If Winston runs an offense well enough to win games, he’ll go nowhere and the fans will be glad of it for the most part.” Agree 100% Bonzai. Presuming that the Bucs win with Jameis as their QB, it makes him harder to replace (Raheem had it right).

The issue that Jameis faces now (and for the foreseeable future) is that to ownership, the GM & the coaches, he’s a ticking time-bomb. If you were in their shoes, would your trust in him have been considerably lessened by all these events? Trust is everything when it comes to leadership IMO, and Jameis has a LOT of work to do to regain that trust … of those who are ‘investing’ so much in him. Winning is the foundation (if Jameis can’t win with this team he’d be gone anyways), but strong character is vital IMO to rebuilding that trust. This is NOT a new issue with Jameis, and I’m really hoping (for his sake especially) that he gets the help & guidance he needs to move forward in a positive manner.

  68. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I am suggesting that regardless of circumstances, no means no.

Unless you are a pimple-faced virgin or such, you have made out with a woman. And odds are at some point your hands roamed and she stopped you (unless you are in the habit of making out with tramps).

If you are denying that, you are lying.

And it doesn’t matter if he knew her or not. You don’t know what they were talking about. She obviously knew him, because she quoted him in her statements. They could have been talking flirty and he got the wrong idea. We’ll never know, one way or the other.

But to say you’ve never been stopped from feeling a girl up makes you a liar.

Objectively, it is the exact same thing. Now you may deny this…people tend to deny the facts when they don’t like them or to support an agenda…but it is the simple truth of the matter.

If we were not in the middle of a ‘me too’ movement, and if Jameis did not have the history thing from college (which was not proven), no one would be making a big deal of this. Don’t lie and say it isn’t so.

  69. stpetebucsfan Says:

Exactly! This issue is about trust. The sex charges, out drunk at 3AM with a convicted rapist and the guy who was his main defense in the Kinsman case…let’s make sure we keep that one alive eh.

It’s about trust which has been totally lost because of the frequency and timing of Jameis stupidity.

We are fans….Koetter and Licht are professionals and Jameis has literally jeopardized their jobs. Can they survive this…sure…will it be much harder…sure.

Jameis behavior has threatened far more than his own career…the other people just have to suck it up and decide if they want to roll the dice yet again.

  70. Roy T. Buford Says:

If this year is more about Winston’s “growth” (a thousand ways to address that one) they would be not be dealing with their face-of-the-franchise and starting QB starting off a season with suspension…amidst continued efforts to try to get fans back. So, “growth” in what? His play on the field has not progressed as hoped in three seasons, and he’s not the best QB (but far from worst) out there but he’s still good enough to retain as a franchise QB even if he has a year this year similar to previous years. But that’s mitigated. The problem is the outside, off-the-field stuff and related issues such as lying to the public and his team (recently, not two plus years ago) in what is not his first time being in the spotlight for similar allegations (and the NFL concluded, agree or not, the groping occured)–makes “good” play still not perhaps worth baggage. Make no mistake, this is about the trust and dependability that is absolutely about the Uber incident. If he plays GREAT but the Bucs get dogged about his character all the time, that is a problem. Ask yourself these questions regarding if the team had a crystal ball: If Winston’s football specific numbers (even the dustups with refs and Lattiomore) were the same as the past three years (yards, wins/losses, fumbles, rating, etc), would the Bucs still draft Winston first over all again? I think that’s quite possible. Take that same body of work and stats, and add all this off-field stuff he’s caused since being in the league and what he brought with him. Would they have still drafted him? I’ll bet not.

This is about off field stuff this year, and next, and maybe a year after that.
How good does he have to be before the Bucs lock him up for future years in a long term deal? He needs probably two GOOD, if not great years, with NO other issues. But that may not be enough.

  71. Roy T. Buford Says:

“And it doesn’t matter if he knew her or not. You don’t know what they were talking about. She obviously knew him, because she quoted him in her statements. They could have been talking flirty and he got the wrong idea. We’ll never know, one way or the other.”

    Wow.
And her public statement made 7 months after it went public was about statements on little girls Winston made last year (be silent, etc). When Winston did what the NFL concluded he did, he’s not said that yet. There is no “she obviously knew him.” Funny you brought the whole flirting thing into it — again. smh.

The only thing that increases the likilihood of it coming out is the metoo movement, but that doesn’t mean it was okay before.

Yeah, Al Franken was flirting with the girl in the picture, where he groped her while she slept. So taking that pic was okay. Not.

  72. Joe Says:

Exactly! This issue is about trust. The sex charges, out drunk at 3AM with a convicted rapist and the guy who was his main defense in the Kinsman case…let’s make sure we keep that one alive eh.

It’s about trust which has been totally lost because of the frequency and timing of Jameis stupidity.

While not disagreeing with this, that was over two years ago. More concerned now with what he has or hasn’t done since.

More concerned with fumbles than what he did shortly after his first Pro Bowl appearance.

  73. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Defense Rules Says
“The issue that Jameis faces now (and for the foreseeable future) is that to ownership, the GM & the coaches, he’s a ticking time-bomb. If you were in their shoes, would your trust in him have been considerably lessened by all these events?”

If I were the owner, I would ignore the media and focus on the facts and how Jameis has acted since the event.

This is what I would consider:
    – It happened years ago. If he was a ticking time bomb, he would have went off by now.
    – Since the supposed event, Jameis has gotten engaged, Married and had a child, all of which tend to mature most men.
    – Since the supposed even, Jameis has become very, very involved in the community and various charities. This tells us that he is in the midst of changing…and was before the event came to life.
    – On the field, Jameis has set records for the franchise.
    – Jameis could have fought this, because he clearly feels he is innocent, but he did what is best for the team. No appeal. No delay. Get the suspension over with and move on.
    – Jameis is a good quarterback, and regardless of recent claims that have suddenly popped up, he IS a good leader. Before this accusation, most people felt that way. An event that happened two years ago does not change that.
    – Jameis is willing to take the heat for this.

Just consider this: if he actually is innocent, that means the NFL needed to take a stance against an innocent man for public relations reasons. Frankly, why else would there have been negotiations before the suspension?

The normal suspension for this sort of thing is 6-16 games, depending on the seriousness. People keep talking about the 6 games, like it is all he would have gotten. They are neglecting to mention that it could have been more, and that the 6 games was the starting point.

And yet, Goodell felt the need to negotiate? Come on now. Before the suspension was handed down, we all knew it was coming. For months. We all knew that guilty or innocent, he was going to get suspended.

    So why negotiate?

Because his is innocent and they wanted him to read from a prepared statement and take the hit for the league. Three games is just enough to make it appear that they take it serious to the media, while minimizing the impact on the team and Winston.

The media, as usual, used the announcement to blow things up because it is the slow news time of the off season. They jumped on the MeToo movement because it gets ratings. They probably paid ‘Kate’ not to make a stink about things with the press.

And that is why no charges have been filed…because last I checked, the victim no longer has to file charges for sexual assault. It is considered a federal crime. She could be summoned to testify, which she clearly does not want.

And in the end, even IF he was guilty, and that is a big IF, he did nothing more than any of us mend have done with a woman, just under slightly different circumstances.

Kate never even filed a civil suite.

  74. SB Says:

Me personally, it’s not about the alleged groping so much as the way he let this occur and the way he handled it.
Knowing his past he should have gotten ahead of the situation immediately
He shouldn’t have tried to hide it.
He shouldn’t have tried to lie.
He shouldn’t have been out with guys like Darby and Banks

I have no Idea what will happen with JW but I will support him as long as he is a Buc. My support is wearing thin I must admit. I bet the same is happening with the Glazers

  75. RickinFtMyers Says:

In my opinion, just the fact that Joe and others are writing and talking about Jameis Winston and his many on and off the field woes daily is enough evidence the Bucs need to draft a new quarterback of the future in the 2019 draft. Winston has become an ongoing distraction one the rebuilding Bucs don’t need. Winston has 13 games, barring injury, to demonstrate he is at least making progress or preferably cured his fumble, interception, and decision-making issues on the field. As for his off-the-field issues, that’s going to take years for him to demonstrate he has mended his ways and the Glazers will need to decide if they want to gamble $20+ million on a good citizen Winston. To me, it’s not worth the gamble, because they gambled once when they drafted Winston and came up with “snake eyes.”

  76. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Joe…you said “While not disagreeing with this, that was over two years ago. More concerned now with what he has or hasn’t done since.”

True, but the concocted lie/cover up to his team and to the public was in November when the story first popped up. He maintained that lie as far as we can tell at least through March, when the Glazers gushed over him (safe to say they would not have said what they did if they knew he’s bamboozled them). His “no fear” comments are unsettling. You say don’t bring family into it, and I agree…but don’t forget..while this lie is going on, he’s the one putting publicly all this stuff out there about his long time relationship, yada yada. All part of a huge facade? Maybe. Really wants to change? Maybe. Probably not a solution they’ll to this year. Sure, fumbles and game play are big…but I still think leadership are trust are forefront.

  77. Roy T. Buford Says:

@SB…if Winston is on the field, I hope he does well every play in the game. Do I cheer him being announced. No. Does that mean he’s the only guy who can lead this team? No. Does that mean I don’t care about what a dirtbag he is–that I still don’t want to see his face on my stadium? Yes. And guys who “supported” him like Fisher at probably did him more of a disservice than support. I get a strong impression the FSU staff in general may have looked the other way. Sometimes having his back is indeed making him hurt. Remember his “no fear” comments. I believe he probably thought he was too powerful with too much pull supporting him to get nailed. So…drop him down on the depth chart, drop him from being team captain, and make him EARN back ALL that was handed to him when got here the first time…when he was already on his second chance as some say. But the reality is also this story is part of every game, every play he makes, everything fans have to watch, for the foreseeable future. No Winston commercials either. National shame. Bucs fans deserve better than that. It is possible to have a QB who a can football games and not be in so much hot water off the field repeatedly.

  78. Defense Rules Says:

@Bonzai … “It happened years ago. If he was a ticking time bomb, he would have went off by now.” I’ll stand by my ‘ticking time bomb’ statement Bonzai. I don’t know … and neither do you … what Jameis’ issues are. What I DO KNOW is that since high school, ‘hassles’ like this have followed Jameis around from what I read. And yet, he’s managed to skate free just about every time (although not without a damaged reputation). Being a star QB, at every level, has meant that lots of folks have given him a lot of leeway in terms of his ‘faux pas’ (plural). Just win baby!

His ‘handlers’, the media, the fans … we all created Jameis. We were the ones who not only ignored his ‘hassles’, but also gave a 20-year-old with 2 years of college QB experience the keys to the kingdom. Jameis the Savior!!! Ignore it if you choose Bonzai, but Jameis the Great needs help. The faux pas that you’re focusing on (Ubergate?) happened 2 years ago so that, and a baby, are evidence to you that he’s turned his life around? Just like Jameis winning 18 out of 45 games is evidence that he’s a great QB? (Oh I forgot, it was the defense’s fault that we lost those other 27 games … my bad).

Take a good look at the picture Joe posted with this article. Remember when it happened? Can you picture Drew Brees or Matt Ryan or Tom Brady going off like that and having to be restrained by one of our Bucs’ greats? Or maybe this one in the game against the Panthers this past December: ” Jameis Winston loses his mind after fumble that sealed the Buccaneers’ loss” (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jameis-winston-loses-his-mind-after-fumble-that-sealed-the-buccaneers-loss/)

  79. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Defenserules…good points. I agree totally, though the Lattimore and video going with the pic shown is the worst to me. I will no doubt be taunted all year in other stadiums with comments about Winston. All I can is throw up my hands and agree with most of them. Funny, is Bucs fans don’t taunt visting fans about Brees, Rodgers, Ryan, Wilson, Manning, etc….because those guys are clean…on and off the field.

  80. Blackmagic00 Says:

What Grt1 said. Word for word except I don’t really agree as much about the racist part. Hope I’m not wrong. Winston is a kid and tried to sweep this incident under the rug. Well it came to surface and he’s paying for it. Not saying it’s ok to do what he did, but it’s been over 2 years since he did it.

  81. Capt.Tim Says:

    Bonzai
Buddy, why do you keep taking a “ stupid” on this issue?
    1) you keep referencing this, like they were on a date, and Jameis got a little to aggressive.
Wow! Over and over again, being stupid with that.
    IT WASNT A FING DATE.
She was working, trying to make a a little money. JAMEIS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER according to the NFL ruling. This was assault- not some romantic encounter. Stop it with that BS

    2) the Naivety of this is unreal. Jameis isn’t a person. Ges a MULTIMILLION DOLLAR CORPERATION. He has a personal management team, compiled of Lawyers, sports agents, and PR men.
Dont all of you realize that?
These guys know how much money this will cost Jameis. In contract, sponsorship, merchandise, etc.
do any of you think they would have agreed to this Settlement- if the league investigations didnt have him dead to rights?
Are any of you so stupid, as to believe Jameis legal team willing gave up potentially hundreds of millions of dollars, to a case based on hearsay??

No. They would have filed a case, charging the driver with character slander, and made The driver prove he assaulted her. If he didnt do it, or she couldnt prove it- it all goes away

But the NFLs investigation did find Damning evidence!
Thats why Winstons legal team took the Deal. Uncontested 3 game suspension, public apology, therapy.
Im sure they gave The driver a payoff- not to pursue futher legal action
They may even have negociated with the state- to accept this arrangement

The NFL isnt the sheriffs ofgice. They dont have to release their findings.
Thats the last thing they want!! They want this to go away as quietly and quickly as possible.

Jameis didnt fight it- even though it will cost him tens of millions of dollars.
Because if he fought it- it would be worse

    3) his nose hasnt been clean for 2 years. He was fabricating false stories with Ronald Darby , and lying to league, owners, and fans until a few weeks ago

    Plus whatever else pops up

  82. DalvinCookRules Says:

My love affair with Jameis is over after his latest bout of DISHONESTY and selfishness.

That said, your logic, Joe–or anyone else–is NOT SOUND. Guys like Testaverde, Dough Williams, and Steve Young were not able to win in Tampa because of poor coaching and ridiculously BAD DEFENSE. Same as what we currently have.

Based off the talent & work ethic we’ve seen so far, Jameis has more than enough ability to win (or get to) a championship with a reasonably well-coached team with a strong defense. He’s the best QB Tampa has ever had with the exception of Steve Young, a HOF QB who didn’t look good in Tampa because of what was around him.

  83. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m sticking by it because it is true.

It doesn’t matter if they were on a date or not. Not legally. If you were to feel a girl up while on a date, and she rejected you, told you to stop, then you are just as guilty as Jameis. Why?

Because if this is true, then he stopped when asked to. And again…who here know’s what they were talking about at the time? How do you know she was not being flirtatious, just to get a good tip? Hmmn? And if she was, isn’t it feasible that he could have gotten the wrong impression?

Why do you think no criminal charges have been filed?

Sexual Assault is a federal crime. With federal crimes, the victim does not have to press charges. The states attorney files them, then calls her as a witness.

And yet no charges were filed. Can’t get around that. If no charges were filed, there is no proof of wrong doing, regardless of what the NFL statement says.

And I cannot believe anyone here is viewing the NFL as unbiased in this, when they care so much about their public image and have a proven history of punishing the innocent.

You don’t have to like what I’m saying. And your opinion can differ. But its just that, opinion. Not fact. Fact says Jameis is 100% innocent, because there is absolutely no proof that he did this. Otherwise, charges would be filed.

  84. BrianBucs Says:

The NFL report on this incident and the lying that followed said that if Winston violates the NFL code of conduct policy one more time (and we all know that at some point he will) he could be suspended indefinitely, which means banned. Do the Bucs really want to put all of their eggs in that basket?
He should be released and Bucs should admit their mistake and move on

  85. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Regardless, so long as these posts keep showing up and commenters keep saying the wrong things, I will be repeating things.

I’ve been felt up by strangers at least 20 times in my life (women). Never once was it considered assault. Out of line? Yes. Improper? Certainly. But not sexual assault.

  86. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    BrianBucs,

It said that if he does not keep to the terms of their agreement, more games will be added. This includes a psych evaluation and counseling if recommended. It did not say indefinitely.

We can also assume it includes his public statements, which if they contradict the NFL statement, would be bad for the public image of the NFL, especially if he is innocent.

  87. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    @HomerSimpsonRocks

I would rather have Miss Piggy at QB than Josh Rosen.

  88. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Oh, I give up. This filter is killing me today. Three posts in a row blocked.

  89. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Bonzai…you cannot seem to get it. It doesn’t matter if YOU were “felt up” or not by a stranger (I assume not on a date) or even someone you know (on or not on a date), or who considered it whatever. If it occurred, was intentional, and was without your permission YOU could press charges. Just because you didn’t consider it as such does not apply to what others consider. I could give you the statute but I know you’ve seen it here before . Now, the NFL didn’t mention a crime because there were no charges filed–but the description of their findings would be if that were in legal channels. That does not mean what is alleged didn’t occur, or could not be brought for the full seven years after the fact. Yup, for four or five more years, “Kate” could concievably change her mind, and then all are in a tailspin all over again. I doubt that will happen, and that doesn’t make anyone guilty. However, like the alleged 20 times you point out with your experiences, the “victim” did not seek to press charges. Of course, the context of your situations aren’t that clear, nor do I care about hearing about them. I will say maybe if what you say is true, you should change your handle from “Bonzai” to “Sugar Pants.”

  90. Roy T. Buford Says:

The NFL is not in to practicing law or prosecuting people. That’s not their purview. But they do have a code of conduct, an infraction on which COULD be against the law and bring outside charges. The issue with Winston is he’s found to have violated that code by the procedures the NFLPA agreed to in a legally binding agreement. If he does the same again, it could ruin his career. It’s like the military’s UCMJ…some things are agains the code but may or may not be against the law. A common one is DUI. If a military member gets caught driving on base/post drunk he is in deep trouble regarding his military career. But he is not as bad off as if getting busted downtown (and found guility) where he gets hammered with both criminal law as well as military law. Even if not guilty of anything criminally (he can usually get it knocked to wreckless driving) but the military will still hang him out to dry. Loss of pay, loss of promotion, loss of retention, etc. For Winston’s case, best to focus here on the facts…the NFL concluded what he did, and stated so much, and the Bucs still have to deal with the truthfulness/integrity/PR/backlash part.

  91. Oneilbucs Says:

Bonzia you are right brother. I said the same thing on other post . Every man have had a women to say no and they stop. These people have all ways hated Winston. Some is cause of race they ain’t gonna say it , Big Ben was able to move on why not Winston? It’s only 1 differents that is oviduess the color. I don’t think he did anything wrong. Cause the NFL would have gave him 6 games if they had real proof . They don’t cut no body no slack. N that’s what national media never say.

  92. JameisNOT Says:

@bonzai: the “filter” is blocking you because because it maxes out at 6 idiot comments per day. Just like last year I told all of you that this clown of a human has screwed up in the past in will again. Joe actually blocked me from this site until he finally came to his senses and realized I was right all along. Check out the archives from last year. This “dumb as a bag of hammers” loser will continue to put himself and the organization in danger. He is Ryan Leaf 2.0 with even more technology to monitor his actions. Fitz is the only option until the Bucs can draft a prospect that they can groom into a NFL QB.

  93. JameisNOT Says:

I speak the truth, I am the truth. And the truth hurts!

  94. Not there yet Says:

Umm actually it’s not that simple if the nice feel they can pay someone proven that money they’ll give him. It’s no different than paying Doug Martin that big salary for a good contact year. Forgot all about that issue in the photo when he was a rookie….. It’s not my fault, it’s all on him why so many people think at worse he’s a rapist and at best he’s average. I’m not in the at worse category I just think he’s been too average for the salary coming. This franchise has never given a quarterback a second contact but that’s not a reason to do it with someone so risky and careless on and off the field

  95. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Capt Tim…I agree mostly. But consider this too. The NFL has the authority per to administer discipline to players. They don’t have to have dead-on evidence–and many have mentioned that here, rightfully. Here’s what’s missed: HOWEVER, should someone who is suspended believe NFL findings are so inaccurate and punishment so wrong they would and could file a complaint under the rules because any such bogus ruling could cost a player a lot of money…salary, fines, endorsements, and contracts. Permanent harm. So while it is not necessary to have a court-style body of evidence, it would behoove the NFL to have their legal ducks in a row before levying any punishment under the NFL’s code of conduct. To me, that is what makes me pretty confident in the Winston situation–that the violation alleged did occur. No, I don’t “know” but to me, it sure seems more likely than not.

  99. Armybucfan Says:

People say Jameis is setting franchise records like he’s the next Tom Brady. The records no one is talking about are …. he’s the first QB in franchise history to be accused of sexual assault on not one but two women…. he’s the first QB in franchise history for turning over the ball in His time with Tampa with 43 interceptions and 25 fumbles. Jameis has also been the first buccaneer to have a temper tantrum on national television and nearly knock over hall of famed beloved buccaneer Shelton quarrels in his act of immaturity. I mean the list of his idiocy is pretty lengthy. Oh let’s not forget he’s the first buccaneers quarterback to head butt an opposing player….. I will be honest with the rest of you when I found out we were getting Winston I was thrilled and hoped he would be the savior of this team. When the allegations of his sexual misconduct happened at FSU I like so many others caked it up as another woman just trying to find an easy way to make money by spreading allegations of misconduct. I was more worried about our Bucs gaining a winning season than that poor woman’s cry for help. For that I apologize because I was wrong. We as fans cannot sit idly by while the face of our franchise makes a Mockery of this team. A true leader leads by example and makes those around him better. Out of all of the examples of Winston’s “GREAT” records which do you feel inspires confidence and motivation?

  100. BrianBucs Says:

  102. MadMax Says:

Haven’t signed Foles yet? Pffff, good grief

  103. Capt.Tim Says:

    Roy T.
The league can discipline its players, without what would amount to a legal case.
    But
    Thats not what happened here.

Winston and his management reached an AGREEMENT. The league cant force a player to reach an agreement, nor can they prevent a player from taking legal action in his own defense.

Jameis lawyers reached an agreement with the league
    Jameis would
    1) agree to a 3 game suspension- no protest
    2) take no legsl action against the driver
    3) public apology
    4) therapy/ counceling

The ONLY WAY that jameis lawyers would agree to this, knowing that excess of One hundred million would be lost- is if the leagues investigation uncovered irreputable evidence of his guilt.
If Jameis took it to court- and that kind of Evidence came to light, it would br even worse.

The fact that Jameis and his team agreed to such a damaging agreement, is proof of his guilt.
Lawyers dont give up one hundred million dollars- based on hearsay

  104. MadMax Says:

Michael Vick on a one year just to see? He would come cheap!

  105. BrianBucs Says:

    Capt. Tim

Agreed 100%. I’m sure that part of Winston’s plea bargain with the league was that they would not make public some information that they uncovered about Winston during their investigation. That is why they did not make public their notification letter to Winston

  106. Bucsmarley Says:

Make a deal with Baltimore. Trade Winston for Lamar Jackson. Let our new future coaching staff build around him

  107. JMan5 Says:

Bucsmarley, I like the idea of a bridge guy and drafting Tua but if we got Lamar Jackson we could call up jim harbaugh

  108. JMan5 Says:

For all those people that say “it was two years ago all that matters is recent.” Well in March he said he had no fear in nov he had his boys lie for him and he lied. Two weeks ago he couldn’t sack up and own it. Recent enough?

  109. Roy T. Buford Says:

Capt Tim…I think we’ve covered both sides. Think he done it.

  110. EEK Says:

Next year may have some massive qb talent on the FA market. This may or may not include Winston (if you consider him a massive talent).
I think it is only wise to have an open mind for the FA market if Winston is anything other than consistently very good to great.
I suspect/expect Winston will play himself out of town with inconsistent play.

  111. Dapostman Says:

It seems JW has the locker room and the coaching staff. The coaching staff is tied to JW like politicians to big money. If JW fails the coaching staff is GONE. Fitz is not the whole 2018 season and beyond answer. They will do everything in their power to see JW succeed and the Bucs succeed. If JW fails they fail. Simple as that.

  112. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Who cares? I’m over it just cut him and move on ! Nothing more to see here

  113. BrianBucs Says:

For all of you guys that say “Trade Winston” that won’t happen as there is not another team in the league that would touch him with a 10 foot pole as he is just an average QB that is a walking PR nightmare.
Bucs just need to release him and move on

  114. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Dapostman

Do not disagree with your observation but how unfair is it. Just like life I guess which isn’t always fair.

Koetter is now charged with getting two QB’s ready to be the starter which affects the snaps each QB gets to take during practice.

And Koetter was rumored to have favored MM along with Father Dungy. Yet if Jameis blows up it will be Koetter’s demise. I do not disagree but I confess it leaves very bad taste in my mouth. Koetter did not ask for all of these DISTRACTIONS.

BTW I was not a Mariotta guy and I still believe Jameis has more talent. Having said that I now feel that neither player deserved to be selected as high as they were. The whiff of bust is growing stronger with each passing year. Both have a long way to go to be franchise QB’s and I’m seriously doubtful that either of them make it at this point.

  115. BrianBucs Says:

    Dapostman

Believe me, Winston does not have the locker room and for now the coaching staff is stuck with him.

  116. uckinator Says:

If you are still reading, congratulations for being a true fan ! Go Fitz ! Being smart is good…Experience is good… Being experienced and smart is good when you have a short 16 game season. Go Fitz and then get a free agent QB ! Smart & experienced.

  119. Capt.Tim Says:

We need to cut him. This is not a person we need as the face of our team.
And none of us went to hear Jameis boneheaded activities- Recanted over and over during every broadcast game.

If the Bucs ever do make the playoffs- they wont be talking about the team.
They will be rehashing Jameis embarrassing incidents.

And you better believe there will be more

    As Fans, we deserve better.
We’ve been embarrassed enough by this team

  120. Oneilbucs Says:

When Ira says it (after the fact) it’s “sage logic” but, when I and others sniffed this out 7 months ago and suggested the Bucs earnestly consider a QB replacement, we were/are called “haters”!?!?

I am glad the professionals have finally caught up. Maybe the inmates should run the asylum!

    PLEASE

  129. Bob in Valrico Says:

Jameis tried to bluff his way out of this accusation. The NFL showed its hand
and clearly accused him of inapropriate behavior. The fact that Jameis quietly took the suspension and apologized should make it obvious that the NFL had more facts that did not substantiate Jameis story and supported the Uber driver’s account.

  133. BrianBucs Says:

    Bucobruce

Sorry, but it was Jason Licht who made the disasterous mistake of picking Winston.
What a total waste of the #1 overall pick that was.

  134. Dapostman Says:

    @BrianBucs,

well Gil Arcia of BucsNation has an article that states Winston has the locker room. Cam Brate and Kwon Alexander have talked about Winston in good terms. No players have come forward to say maybe JW shouldn’t be the Bucs QB. Only the fans who never wanted him in the first place are playing that tune. As I stated I believe JW has the locker room. Do his teammates know he’s a knuckle head? I’m sure they do. That doesn’t mean they won’t have his back if they believe he will grow up. JW is tied to Koetter, Licht and the rest of the staff. His success will be theirs. His failure will be theirs.

  138. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Dapostman…you say “Only the fans who never wanted him in the first place are playing that tune.” That’s complete BS. First, you are wrong regarding my thoughts, and you can’t possibly know the rest. Not only did I give Winston a chance, I bought every possible Jameis Winston TShirt, figurine, OYO, etc, that is for family members. Stood with my grandson in the rain for 30 minutes waiting to get his autograph. But he bamboozled all of us…we can get a decent QB here without all the lying, all the other baggage. Gil Arcia also has no idea if Winston has the locker room–and you can’t go by a few questions where players are going to stay away from saying anything negative. By the time the news came out, the Bucs had already ended their workouts. At the end of the day, it comes down to feedback the owners get, and how they feel.

  139. Lucious Selmon Says:

    Greg Says:
Buccaneer Bonzai your dead wrong. trying to make a statement that we’ve all done it is complete stupidity. Our first move usually is not to grab them between the legs. The fact that you’re claiming everybody is being hypocrites tells us all more about you than it is really about you calling us out.
    ——————-

Bonzai done tole on hisself. Thinks everybody does it.

No, Bonzai. No, everybody surely doesn’t have at least one sexual assault. Now check yourself into rehab. David Letterman or Ben Rothlisberger could probably recommend a place.

  140. Dapostman Says:

    @Roy T Buford,

You say , “Gil Arcia also has no idea if Winston has the locker room–and you can’t go by a few questions where players are going to stay away from saying anything negative.”

But it seems you know whether Winston has the locker room. Ok Guy whatever YOU say. Hilarious reading some of these posts. Keep the entertainment coming Roy.

  141. Bucsmon Says:

Why is this guy continued to be called a Pro Bowler? He snuck in because the real starters and subs didnt want to go.

So in looking at the Turnovers the 1st 3 seasons whether they be Picks or Fumbles Lost and a sub 50% Red Zone completion % last year this is hardly a Pro Bowl, America’s QB.

But some will keep drinking the Koolaid just like some did with Johnny Manziel.

  142. admin Says:

But some will keep drinking the Koolaid just like some did with Johnny Manziel.

    Love Johnny! 🙂

  143. T REX Says:

“And yet no charges were filed.

Otherwise, charges would be filed.”

Total BS. The DA declines to file charges all the time. For a variety of reasons. That doesn’t mean not guilty. Protect JW at all costs. Sad freaking humans. Disgusting humans. I hope Bonzai and his minions leave when JW is jettisoned. We don’t need trash fans.

  144. Oneilbucs Says:

T Rex you just a hater. If it’s not chargers file then he is innocent. But when you black you are guilty to a lot of white people.

  145. Oneilbucs Says:

Man I’m done with this issue ready to move on from this I’m tired of people who hate Winston there mind is made up. He throw 500 yards a game and they will still hate Winston. So I’m done with this issue.

  146. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Dapostman…You don’t live in a world of basic rationale do you? Did I say whether or not Winston has the locker room? No. Did I say I know? No, dimwit, read again. You may still not get it then either…but it’s clearer now why you “think” how you do.

  147. gambelero Says:

Pickgrin has a couple great posts and GP, who I hadn’t noticed before, made some good points.

Me? I’m recommending that we negotiate an extension with America right now. Anyone who has actually watched him play almost every game can see he’s destined for greatness. He’s like a stock that’s at it’s historical low.

How big a mistake would it be to “wait and see?” If Jameis shows out this season, which I’m convinced he will, he’ll be due Marty Ice plus numbers. That’s maybe $50m more than what he’d extend for right now.

And he would accept a clause that lets us out of the deal if he transgresses again. Come on guys. Reach out Mano e Mano (I know it’s Mano a Mano, but it just doesn’t sound as good) and tell him you want to talk now.

Waiting could be a $50,000,000 mistake.

  148. Dapostman Says:

    @Roy T Buford,

Keep the entertainment coming guy. Gil Arcia doesn’t know, Dapostman doesn’t know but Roy T Buford knows that others don’t know. Hilarious.
Oh and Roy, once you start with the name calling you lose the argument and any creditability you think you have. But hey you still got all those Winston figures right? lol

  149. T REX Says:

@ Oneil – Leave the race baiting crap outta here. I doubt the Glazers dump him this time but he’ll need to actually win games to stay here. 18-27 or whatever his record is, sucks. Win or get gone. And he’s now at a zero tolerance for his behavior. Next anything and he’s toast.

  150. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Dapostman…yup…keep making it up to be about the posters, and not the problem at hand, which is the embattled Bucs QB, Jameis Winston and his apologists. You lost when you you came out and said “Only the fans who never wanted him in the first place are playing that tune.” Why don’t you drop some more brilliant gems, like statements about what only women think, what only men thrink, etc. As if you know what anyone thinks…
Give it a rest….or keep showing your foolishness.

  151. Dapostman Says:

    @Roy T. Buford,

I guess you are right Roy. I should have said “Only the fans who never wanted him in the first place and the Roy T. Buford’s of the world, are playing that tune. There Roy I fixed it are you happy now?

Doesn’t take away from your “Gil Arcia also has no idea if Winston has the locker room–and you can’t go by a few questions where players are going to stay away from saying anything negative.”

You seem to know more about the Bucs locker room than Gil Arcia. You know the guy who actually talks to the players not like the Roy T. Buford’s who buy their bobbleheads and think they have it all figured out. Well maybe only in your mind. You can have the last word Roy since I have a feeling reading your War & Peace posts that you are not going away quietly. P.S. I’m usually right.

  152. Oneilbucs Says:

T Rex…. ok if fizpatrick go 0 -3 then it’s all his fault. I know a lot of white people love to say race card but just explain big Ben and why the national media never said cut big Ben ? Don’t tell me about the me too . Jameis is a black quarter back that been in the league for 3 years and they say he needs to play like Brady, Brees, Rodgers that been in the league for 10 plus years and Derrick Carr don’t. The gm for the Panthers, and the lions head coach got off cause no proof but Jameis no proof but guilty. 2 or white 1is black so you tell me.

  153. joestang Says:

looking forward to next years draft already. 3 and 13 should get a high pick.
