Kwon: “That’s Our Big Goal This Year”

Yes, there were Buccaneers doing impressive things last week — not crafting shady backroom deals with NFL officials and issuing vague apologies.

One was Kwon Alexander, who was back in his native Alabama hosting 100+ kids at his football camp.

WEAC-TV covered the event and talked a little Bucs football with the Buccaneers captain.

Kwon revealed that Tampa Bay’s top goal is perhaps life’s simplest.

“We’re taking a day at a time. You know, that’s our big goal this year, take it a day at a time. Don’t look ahead. Don’t look back,” Kwon said. “Take it one day at a time. Do what you got to do to be great. And that’s what we’re headed towards.”

That was a big theme for Dirk Koetter this spring. Joe will paraphrase: ‘Hey, you guys sucked last year. Remember it but forget it at the same time. Just focus on your own self-improvement each day and it will come together.’

Joe’s not going to speculate about players buying in completely or not. But there was a very positive vibe through spring practices.

The real tests are around the corner.

This franchise could have Lombardi coaching 70’s steelers defense with joe Montana at qb and still find away to embarrass themselves all the way to basement.

  2. 813bucboi Says:

there was a “real positive vibe” last offseason as mike evans recalled….until they got punched in the month……

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

Buckner is gonna save the day with dLine

  5. stpetebucsfan Says:

That’s the most appropriate approach to life…live in the moment…be present.

It’s a lesson that gets easier and easier now that I’m 70…LMAO…seeing the finish line this close gives you a great appreciation of the NOW!!!

  6. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Buckner is no savior. If he was such a great coach, why was he available???? Why did he have to settle for the worst franchise in pro spirts???? If he was so great he’d have better options than the glazer circus.

Buckner is an average at best coach with a mediocre track record at best. Last dline coach was a saviir too howd that work out?????

    Jesus could not save bucs.

  7. Joe Says:

Why did he have to settle for the worst franchise in pro spirts????

    Money?

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Have to empathize with Kwon & the rest of the team because the timing of the NFL suspension couldn’t have been much worse. They had a great spring, then dispersed for several weeks, then whammo … Goodell drops the hammer on Winston. Players will now have had several weeks to chew on this … probably with little support from each other … until training camp begins. This whole sordid affair, and the way it was handled by EVERYONE, really stinks. Koetter needs to find a way to use it to motivate this team rather than let it continue to drag them down. Too many good talented players to let this garbage define them. And define them it will UNLESS they rise above it as a T-E-A-M.

“crafting shady backroom deals with NFL officials and issuing vague apologies.” On the other hand, some might think it time to move on.

“Why did he have to settle for the worst franchise in pro spirts?”

Not sure a team with a Superbowl qualifies as “the worst team in pro sports”

  11. Capt.Tim Says:

There are still players on this team we can be proud of. Kwon is one of them.
I expect great improvement from the defense this year.
No where to go but up
The D-line will be greatly improved. Finally, help for McCoy!!

The secondary will be very young. That will be a weakness this year, then a strength moving foward.
I thought Carleton Davis was by far the best CB in this draft. Cant wait to see what he brings.
Lots of young, evxiting players in that secondary now.

Just gotta keep JPP healthy. We dont have any other DE on the team with his quickness

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

    Unfortunately. Despite the optimism,
I dont think the Hammer has finished dropping on this team.
Sadly, I expect more bad news soon. Probably during training camp

    First Down.

A single Super bowl title is not a lifetime free pass. That super bowl and the underachieving has beens that won it expired week 1 the following season. One super bowl also does not offset bucs other title either that being the proud owners of the worst winning percentage in NFL history. Raise your standards

Do you have a truck-sized corn cob stuck up your a$$?

RealityMax… have you called your kids yet?

  16. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Nope just a fan and sick and tired ofbliw standard losers like yourself always trying to put lipstick on a pig. Reality is truly a beotch and the reality until the embarrassing franchise earns it on the field there is nothing positive. That is reality

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Yep…..just what I though…..truck-siized….

  18. Jjones Says:

Tampabaybucfan, I just skip what he writes. I read something Reality said one day a long time ago and I could literally feel myself getting dumber.

  19. Jeffbuc Says:

Reality I would hate to be your boyfriend or life partner whatever you call him. You are one angry individual. And our negative about everything. I bet he could cook you a 5star Gordon Ramsay perfectly cooked meal after a long day of you trolling joebucs fan in your moms basement and you would still bitch. I think you and your life partner need to find something else to watch or to fill your empty time. Maybe painting or crocheting will be better on your negative azz mind.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Alexander needs to just shut up and let his play speak for itself.

I get tired of mouthy players.

CB’s Law of Rhetorical Economics: The reason “talk is cheap” is because the supply grossly exceeds the demand.

The entire team needs to just STFU and play winning ball.

  21. Back2bucball Says:

Remember guys, it is extremely difficult to win in this league ! More so to lift a Lombardi trophy. The bucs have done that once Incase some of you forget.i more than most get the frustration we have as fans about the boneheaded thing’s that go on from time to time or from regime to regime , but if we all just sit back and take a deep breath and enjoy the ride, we will appreciate our future success even that much more! Here’s to the defence improving& here’s to Fitz holding down the fort until the immature one gets back on the field… Go bucs!

  22. Buccfan37 Says:

At least the Bucs are unbeaten in the super bowl, not many teams can say that.
