Kwon Steps Up

June 22nd, 2018

Leader.

Bucs types like to call middle linebacker Kwon Alexander the “Jameis of the defense.”

Perhaps America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, needs to strive to be the “Kwon of the offense?”

With the news of a tentative three-game suspension of Jameis breaking yesterday, it didn’t take the fierce Bucs linebacker to come out swinging for his quarterback.

Later when Alexander was challenged on his stance, he also replied on Twitter.

This is not the first time Alexander has gone to bat publicly for an embattled teammate. Two years ago, Alexander took a strong stance supporting kicker Roberto Aguayo. When Joe asked him about that in the locker room, Alexander looked straight at Joe and firmly said “I meant that!”

Alexander is nothing but a team guy.

Just think, last year (though it was Christmastime) Alexander was the first guy to confront Lightning-trolling, belly-shirt-wearing, practice-hating, kicker-heckling, tree-grinding , non-contact-football-loving, chicken-wings-grilling, playing-time-squawking, TV-cooking-star, half-sack Swaggy Baker after his stunt that lost the game for the Bucs at Carolina.

Remember: It wasn’t a coach that finally got in Swaggy’s grill, it wasn’t any self-proclaimed team leader. It was Alexander.

In the words of the one and only Chris “Mad Dog” Russo of SiriusXM fame, “That’s all there is to it.”

Kwon might wanna wait until the other shoe drops…

This is going to be another huge ramification of this mess..some teammates are going to want to support him, some are not, some are wait and see.. Not much for building team unity.

I don’t think the NFL will release exactly what happened, and JW damn sure won’t.

So much for “no distractions this year”

Nonsense…how did kneeling “distract” the eagles? Rhetorical…and it hurts..lol

“Jameis of the defense” of Jameis of (this or that) now means that you have been suspended for multiple games and let the team down!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. pelbuc Says:

Kwon needs to be quiet, wait til all the facts come out and learn how to tackle.

  6. Pickgrin Says:

    Attaboy Kwon!

Bucs fans need to follow suit.

    Support your QB!!

The NFL’s handling of this entire “investigation” was total bullsh!t.

If the NFL had uncovered ANY type of evidence that Jameis actually did grope that Uber drover – then his suspension would have automatically been for 6-8 games.

Short of any forthcoming PROOF that Winston touched that driver inappropriately – then he is to be presumed INNOCENT. That’s how this country and its laws have operated since it’s inception over 200 years ago.

Bucs “fans” in droves seem to have somehow forgotten that little minor detail within the last 20 hours….

Stop the knee jerk reactions and support your QB! Jameis isn’t going anywhere for at least a dozen years and he needs the fans of this team to support him during this difficult and trying time – not pile on and stupidly call for his head like so many are doing… SMH

And we want to let this man walk out the door and allow an injury prone 2nd year player to take over at MLB.

  12. rrsrq Says:

Hopefully. it only stays at three. Maybe even reduced to two. I don’t know and none of us do, but obviously something happened whether inappropriate, misconstrued or whatever, butI can definitely understand from Kwon’s approach, the Jameis he is supporting is the Jameis that he knows and goes to battle with. The rest of us do not know that Jameis, Kwon is around this guy when the spotlight is not on, we also know this allegedly happened in 2016, this is a guy that since that time we hope has only tried to clean up his image, minus some boneheaded things (Cowpokes and Aint’s game) in the battle. What I am really hoping for is that (as a fan) is that the three games iut keeps him hungry just like the three games out did last year when he came back from injury and the only reason we lost those games was defense and special teams (as much as we want to blame Swaggy – he didn’t give up the special teams return for a touchdown against the Panthers). As a person, I just hope and pray that the young man, Jameis does the right thing (you are soon to be a family man)

  13. Eric Says:

I didn’t think following the bucs could get more depressing until this happened.

I really want to believe Jameis did not do this, but two different woman, and who would make up such a bizarre incident. And now no witness to back up Jameis.

People are just not who they appear to be.

Damn season is totally ruined no matter what.

    GOTTA LOVE KWON…

kinda like when we were 6-6 playing good ball, in the playoff picture and kwon had to sit the final 4games…..

funny how history repeats itself….that suspension doomed the season and the regime…..

fast forward to 2018, winstons suspension may doom this season and coaching staff…..

and just like in 2015, the staff knew about the situation and had plenty of time to create a plan and be prepared…..folks didn’t give the previous regime a past…..this staff doesn’t deserve a pass either…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

Jameis could come back and lead us to the damn super bowl and half the media coverage would be about this.

Steelstud have you met Winslow? He’s americas pervert.

  18. SteelStudBuc Says:

Haha Winslow likes the grannies tho. He’s twisted.

  19. Sauerpickle Says:

Whatever. Kwons not that much of a peace maker or even a standup to anyone. Used to follow him on Instagram and got tired of him always going on there ragging on people who follow him. Fans no less. I called him out on it. He chose to cuss about it to me. I kept trying to get him to understand what he was doing. He had no class. So he blocked me. Haha…. he blocked me cause he couldn’t take me standing up to him for being a beat down on his followers. Hey Kwon, not everyone has to agree with everything you do. This dude has issues. He’s cussed me out multiple times for calling him out. Seems pretty thin skinned if you ask me. Heck of a talented player, very very awesome player, but I’m done with that. Don’t know how you keep a base going after your fans who really don’t mean anything. Just got sick of seeing him do that. So I tried to stick up for others.

  20. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

So if Keon is the Jameis Of the defense does that mean he finger diddles lyft drivers?

  21. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

    Kwon*

  22. JabooBuc Says:

Pickgrin- I would very much like to defend this QB, but i have to admit it’s wearing thin. As an FSU grad, i tried my best to give him the benefit of the doubt. We made a lot of apologies for him by saying he was just young and stupid.

But, if this turns out to be true, even the slightest, and he that he lied to cover it up, then this is the last straw. A lot of this is still rumor so i am hoping that whatever the ruling is, Jameis will maintain his stance of innocence.

However, if they impose a 3 game suspension and he does not appeal, then i cannot help but assume his guilt. There is no way the NFL would suspend for 3 games for failure to report. And, if the rumors are true that they imposing other requirements, i.e. counseling, then they must have something on him.

Hope we are all wrong but based on what has been reported thus far, it does not look good for him or this organization.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think you can do both……support Winston and still be very disappointed….
    that’s where I am.

As far as the “America’s QB” this placing Winston on a pedestal makes it worse for him…..it fuels the fire of his detractors and embarrasses his supporters.

Joe, this is hurting you with your readers…..you aren’t stupid….perhaps stubborn…..no, make that for sure stubborn.

  24. Trench War Says:

Oh how commendable, ..now rally behind your real leader Fitzpatrick

  25. BringBucsBack Says:

Kwon, you may want to wait a little bit buddy! Can’t support your boy like one of the Pouncy twins did for Aaron Hernandez with his T-shirt that read “free Hernandez“! Get some more facts; just wait!

  26. Jff Says:

    I’m sorry Pickgrin I can’t support a petulant child with clear women/maturity/entitlement issues. I’m a family man before I’m a fan.

  27. jmarkbuc Says:

    Pickgrin

Your post seems very short sighted, and that’s not like you usually. As long as JW remains silent, there is only one presumption. To date he has not said anything meaningful, or at all, in his defense.

I know if I was innocent, I’d be shouting it from the mountain top.

I don’t want a head case with a penchant for sexual impropriety as the QB of a team I have followed for 40 years. And I won’t support either one. Even if he/they win a Superbowl. And no I’m not a Roethlisberger fan either.

JW# is the only Qb that could make Josh Freeman look like an OK guy

  28. Pickgrin Says:

    JabooBuc Says:
“if they impose a 3 game suspension and he does not appeal, then i cannot help but assume his guilt”

That’s a hell of an assumption. Winston is caught between a rock and a hard place because the NFL can literally “discipline” a player in any way it wants to – just because it wants to. Obviously – no proof of wrongdoing is required. Because there is absolutely no hard PROOF that Jameis did what was alleged. Just “suspicion” based on nothing more than a TMZ style report about this supposed “incident” that came out 18 months after the fact! Winston’s appeals would almost certainly fall on deaf ears just like most all appeals for NFL suspensions do.

This “case” would get laughed out of any court in the land. Charges would never even be brought forth under normal circumstances because “suspicion” or “the circumstances look bad and he had a previous similar accusation” is nowhere close to evidence of wrongdoing. But the NFL doesn’t have to bother with hindrances like proof or due process. King Goodell does what he wants.

Winston literally has no means of clearing his name in this circumstance and I feel really bad for him in that respect.

“There is no way the NFL would suspend for 3 games for failure to report.”

To which I would respond – there’s no way in this current #metoo over-reactionary climate that if there was ANY proof whatsoever that Winston did what this girl alleged – that he would get any less than a 6-8 game suspension.

  29. jmarkbuc Says:

    Pickgrin

He could file a civil lawsuit for defamation of character, and he has the money to pay the lawyers to do so.

He could have his day in court, if he really wanted one, if he were truly innocent and wanted everyone to know. But he doesn’t.

  30. jmarkbuc Says:

Last thought on this thread for me

You say “he’s between a rock and a hard place” WHO PUT HIM THERE?

too damn stupid to call a car service.

  31. Pickgrin Says:

    jmarkbuc Says:
“To date he has not said anything meaningful, or at all, in his defense.”

Uh – Wrong! He flatly denied the allegation in a public press conference less than 24 hours after the TMZ style story broke.

“The story falsely accuses me of making inappropriate contact with this driver… The accusation is false, and given the nature of the allegation and increased awareness and consideration of these types of matters, I am addressing this false report immediately. At the time of the alleged incident, I denied the allegations to Uber, yet they still decided to suspend my account.”

  32. jmarkbuc Says:

So if that is true, why is he laying down now? Alibi dried up?

  33. Pickgrin Says:

    jmarkbuc Says:
“He could file a civil lawsuit for defamation of character, and he has the money to pay the lawyers to do so. He could have his day in court, if he really wanted one”

File a lawsuit against who exactly? Buzzfeed??? The girl who allegedly accused him of groping but never did a thing about it – no police – no charges – no lawsuit – no nothing? Should he track down the IP addresses of every idiot on these comments section and sue each and every asshat who is going overboard and publicly slandering Winston’s character based on nothing more than assumptions?

    C’Mon – get real.

Jameis finds himself between a rock and a hard place because of the circumstances. Because the King Goodell has the power to “discipline” however and whenever he wants – without any need for things like proof or due process.

Sure – in retrospect – hiring a private bodyguard to follow him around everywhere – or hiring a private limo are steps that could have avoided all this – but that’s all in hindsight. And its kind of BS that steps like that to get through everyday life would even be necessary.

Its super easy to see what “should” or “could” have been done to prevent a messed up circumstance AFTER the fact…. Jameis had just turned 22 years old when this happened. Youth is not an “excuse” for not making all the best decisions one could make – but inexperience certainly comes into play when it comes to dealing with the real world which most 22 year olds are very ill-equipped to do in today’s world.

  34. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

I support number 3! Season ticket holder since 2013! Go Bucs!

  35. jmarkbuc Says:

    Um

Yes, against the girl who hired a lawyer and said she was groped…that seems pretty obvious. She has managed to get him on all sorts of media outlets, accused of being a groper. People have sued for a lot less. People have sued McDonalds because the coffee was hot for God’s sake…and won

Whether he were to win or not, he would have his day in court..not cut and run like he’s doing now..

You seem like a reasonable guy, mostly.. Why wouldn’t anyone want a chance to proclaim there innocence. Especially when your reputation as a man and millions of dollars on your next contract are at stake?

HE CREATED THESES CIRCUMSTANCES NOT GOODELL, even if Goodell is an asshole, it’s still on Jameis

  36. jmarkbuc Says:

    2013 wow, impressive

  37. Bucsfanman Says:

Pickgrin- Normally you’re a lot more level-headed in these discussions. None of us actually KNOW what happened either with the driver or the NFL’s investigation. There’s a deafening silence on one side where it has been reported that a deal was struck. Most agree that since no criminal charges were filed, the case should be moot. “Should” being the operative word! There’s clearly more here than any of us know right now.
That said, I will neither accuse NOR defend him at this point. All I can say is that it smells bad and I don’t like it.
Ah, to be a Bucs fan!

  38. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

LMFFAO! Self-proclaimed leader? Now who would you be referring too Joes? Que the “you know who” lovers now….;)

  39. Pickgrin Says:

Bucsfanman – I am one of the few BEING “level-headed” in my comments about the Winston suspension today.

Winston strongly denied the accusation when it first became public. That’s enough for me.

Jameis has shown nothing but high character since the day he walked in the door at OBP. So how exactly does an accusation about inappropriate touching that comes out 18 months after the fact (by a dubious source) change all the good Jameis has done for this team and this community in the eyes of so many fans?

It wasn’t even the super late reporting of the accusation itself that caused the firestorm of hate. It was the announcement that King Goodell was over stepping his bounds again that triggered it. And instead of being pissed at Goodell for suspending our QB based on what we DO know thus far as being a complete lack of actual evidence – damn near everyone seems to be placing all their upset on Winston.

I don’t have to “know” what happened to say we need to be 100% behind Winston in these circumstances. .

Unless and until there is some specific proof that Jameis touched that woman’s crotch – then by law and by all rights – Jameis Winston is INNOCENT of this accusation until proven guilty.

How do so many not understand that simple fact?

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

Pick- I ain’t mad at you for defending him. We just simply do not have ALL the facts. The problem comes when you piece together Winston’s “pattern” of behavior. You’re adamant about his innocence the same that some are adamant about his guilt. You can’t fault people for feeling that way. History, whether you like it or not, are on their side.
NONE of us know who JW really is or what he does. To assume otherwise is a leap.
I agree with you regarding the heavy-hand of King Goodell. Who gives him the right?!
Don’t worry man, this will die down after a bit. I’ll drink a beer for you!

  41. Joe Says:

Joe- Still with the “America’s Quarterback” moniker huh?? What gives haven’t you learned your lesson yet?? You sound like a idiot and lose credibility daily by doing so.

Clearly you are not well-versed in how to make cash on the internet. Joe has numbers and data that tells him what works, not guesswork.

  42. Jff Says:

Jameis is a master at gaslighting

  43. Pickgrin Says:

Bucsfanman – Exactly what “history” are you referring to? The cleatchaser’s accusation from 6 years ago that was obviously false?

It’s just soooo wrong that liar’s previous accusation is somehow being applied to this circumstance in everyone’s mind!

  44. Sandy R Says:

I am a diehard Bears fan. I moved to Tampa 6 years ago and watched the Bucs struggles. Then I thought why not and became a Bucs/Bears fan. Come on Tampa fans, support your QB. I bet the team does. They will come together and win 2 outta the 3 games while he is suspended. The team will support him. Have some faith!

  45. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Pickgrin

You and I agree on most things…..surely you realize that given Jameis’ past he should have had the wisdom to hire a driver…..and to not put himself late at night (likely after alcohol) alone with a female.
This is at least poor judgement……and a person must be aware of their reputation, deserved or not, and act accordingly.

I support Jameis going forward but I am very disappointed.

  46. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

Nick Foles If I’m the GM and HC I’d bust my a$$. And Go get him now and save my job… Foles is still only 29. If you do nothing then you may as well put your houses up for sale….

  47. Pickgrin Says:

    Tbbf Says:
“This is at least poor judgement……and a person must be aware of their reputation, deserved or not, and act accordingly. I support Jameis going forward but I am very disappointed.”

Go ahead and be “disappointed” in Winston’s supposedly “bad” decision to not hire a private Limo that night. He should have known that taking an Uber instead would lead to trouble – right? SMH

My fuller response to those thoughts were already made I believe:

“Jameis had just turned 22 years old when this happened. Youth is not an “excuse” for not making all the best decisions one could make – but inexperience certainly comes into play when it comes to dealing with the real world which most 22 year olds are very ill-equipped to do in today’s world.

    ————————

I’d say Jameis has more “experience” with questionable sexual improprieties than most… how many times does he need to narrowly escape?

That and plenty of money, so boo hoo he was only 22!

    4. He was suspended for PED’s to collapse a 6-6 teams playoff hopes.
