Jameis Could Be “A Savior”

June 30th, 2018

Table set for glory.

America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is being called a lot of things these days in the wake of his three-game suspension.

Joe isn’t sure many people are referring to him as a savior. But there is one person. That would be former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn.

Now a talking head for CBS Sports and SiriusXM NFL Radio, Quinn is of the mind the timing of Jameis’ suspension and the brutal three games he’ll miss actually could set Jameis up to be one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL as he so passionately has worked to be.

“I don’t even think if Jameis Winston was their quarterback, [the Bucs] were going to win” the first three games, Quinn said. “This is setting up where Jameis Winston could look like a savior.”

The first three games (at New Orleans with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh at home) is the roughest start to a season in the Super Bowl era. So if one believes the Bucs start 0-3, which would all but kill any playoff hopes, Jameis would have to lead the Bucs to a 10-3 record down the stretch just to have a shot at the postseason.

If Jameis could pull that off and get the Bucs to the playoffs, then only your devout haters will be stomping on a library floor while they read the news from their free copy of a 19th-century news delivery service over Jameis’ Uber hassle.

You can watch Quinn’s full take below.

Savior? Maybe so. He sure knows sin.

  2. tval Says:

Cast that first stone, csi…..shameless, INDEED! Get ready to beg for forgiveness, when the WHOLE story comes out. JUST LIKE LYIN’ Erica….lol

  3. AlteredEgo Says:

What a complete LOSER mentality to consider a default 0-3 ….shameful

  4. Pete I Says:

Savior? The part on Tannyhill was more interesting

  5. Season Is Over Says:

I wonder how long the team is going to suspend Winston.

  6. JJ Says:

Best case scenario for Jameis first game back is probably week 6. He’s unlikely to start week 4 regardless on their records because its a short week after a Monday night game. And week 5 is a bye.

So no Jameis at the earliest until well into October.

  7. DB55 Says:

Only one problem with this, McIceCream! Don’t matter if Jameis gives you a 24 point lead McIceCream will still find a way to lose.

Oh but he’s a top 5 DT, apparently not!

  8. Jfgobucs Says:

    Good points…

Never seen so many negative people..
He didn’t kill or rape anyone…made a serious mistake..apologized..will pay
Deeply..both pocket and public opinion ..hes only 24..
    Will receive counseling…dang

  9. Pickgrin Says:

If the Bucs win more than 8 games in 2018 – it will be because Jameis played very well in the final 13 games.

I’m pretty confident that the Bucs will be 1-2 at worst heading into Chicago.

  10. Noel Says:

We all new his character issues coming into the NFL, to paraphrase Chucky, “you always get what you deserve”. Shady character, shady results.

  11. Trench War Says:

that is the same comment I made two days ago

  12. meh Says:

    Cut him.

Please don’t misrepresent Joe or what is published here. Thank you.–Joe

  14. ben Says:

bucs and fans dont need the embarrassment from the perception that Winston has given the team. Bucs pls trade or cut him as he was only average anyway.

  15. tval Says:

Well, hasn’t that LYIN, LIBRUH’, sports media watered some, DAINTY, little southern flowers over the last 5-10 years…i DO DECLARE!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  16. AlteredEgo Says:

0-3….Joes have you ever fought for anything of principle and honor…and no…favored seating and access @ OBP…does not count anymore than www click counts…. You and others are very funny, busy reading what’s not here, reading between lines, etc. First, Joe would much prefer to sit in the stands at Bucs games. Far more enjoyable. If there was a way to do that and still get back into the postgame locker room, Joe would do that in a heartbeat. Second, this site was built without access, and it would thrive without it. If you don’t believe that, then you are not understanding Bucs fans or Joe’s ability to connect without traditional access.–Joe
this is by far the worst chapter in Buccaneer history and it is only the first page of a long chapter unless the editor/Glazers step in with vision for the franchise. Joe has already written that it was a dark day this week and a dark chapter. NOBODY has shared more negativity about Jameis in the past 10 days. –Joe …a year away from OBP….he will have a complete do over in my book under that condition….welcome with open arms Jameis…get your “sierra “together….

  17. tval Says:

Pete and Ben can WALK THE PLANK!!! and ima eagle fan…lol!!!! Kiss the ring, hater…and FORGET NICK FOLES…maybe Nate sudfeld for a 2nd…..look it up, fanboys

  18. Gobucs Says:

    Lmao

People still waiting on the story to come out like it’s gonna make a difference lol.

The story doesn’t even matter. He’s out 3 games and that’s that.

Deal with it you jock strappers

  19. T REX Says:

Crab legs? Beer run? Grope-a-thon? CFL QB?

Savior my ass. Dude is garbage.

  20. Red86 Says:

I think we could be 2-1. Beating the Saints and Eagles. Most defending champs teams lose their first few games due to distractions and everyone aiming to knock them out. Plus, Mark Ingraham is going to be missed by the Saints, because of the balance he provide the team.

  21. DB55 Says:

    fans dont need the embarrassment
    ————-
What fans? The stadium is virtually empty every week, barely ever any primetime games and you avg, what, 4 wins per season for the last decade but Jameis is embarrassing. You guys are funny.

Then again you people would be embarrassed with Deion Sanders on this roster.

  22. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    Blah blah blah blah blah

  23. Capt.Tim Says:

Just waiting on another shoe to drop
    1) the state of Arizona files criminal charges
    2) he was shouting “Antigay” comments out the window. A gay guy comes forward, says he heard the comments- then ran home crying. Jameis is charged with hate speech and hate crime. In todays NFL, Godell would hang him from the rafters.
    3) another woman comes foward.

Its just a matter of time

  24. Couch Fan Says:

Let me first say im a #45 Supporter. That being said. Its comical you condone 45 and offer excuses for him while picking and choosing to write off Winston. At least im consistant with my opinions. You seem to speak out of both sides of your mouth.

  25. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

JJ – wtf are you talking about. Jameis won’t come back because week 4 is a short week??? You don’t want a well rested qb for game 4. Dude has played
In this offense for 3 years and knows the system. I can’t even begin to imagine what your logic is and I don’t want to. When I see posts like this I truly question the education system in the US.

  26. Dewey Selmon Says:

Winston is already watching Chicago tape.

  27. JJV Says:

Meanwhile, even now there are some that believe that Winston is completely innocent and has been a victim himself in all this. Maybe he should eventually she Kate for defamation against his character. Nowadays, why not?

  28. JJV Says:

    *sue

  29. BobbyBucs Says:

    Joe,

Not sure why you keep referring to JW as America’s QB when he has faced Rape charges and sexual misconduct claims.

Time to drop that line, def. not America’s QB anymore.

  30. BobbyBucs Says:

    @Capt. Tim

    You’re on point

Why “Joe” continues to refer to him as America’s QB is insane

“If Jameis could pull that off and get the Bucs to the playoffs, then only your devout haters will be stomping on a library floor while they read the news from their free copy of a 19th-century news delivery service over Jameis’ Uber hassle.”

We are beyond calling this a “hassle”. It was a sexual assault. Period. Any more doubt being thrown around at this point is a direct insult to the victim. Jameis is EXTREMELY lucky she did not press charges.

For those who say that the lack of charges casts doubt on her story clearly do not understand what a victim goes through. Countless studies have been done, and statistically most victims do not file charges for a host of reasons. Google it and you can find reputable information on the topic.

The people out there still pushing the narrative that she is in it for money do not have their facts straight. There is no lawsuit, and there won’t be. She came forward in a brave #metoo moment to prevent others from being victimized and give strength to other victims to find their voice. She obtained a lawyer for her own protection, and her choice of the same lawyer as in the rape case is best practice for evidence collection if Winston were to ever victimize someone again in the future. Law 101.

And I don’t think we will see Winston QB again for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think he has lost the locker room and the trust of management. I don’t see most Bucs fans willing to give him another chance. If he were to come back in Game 4, I think their will be public outcry against the organization. And if by some chance he comes back and wins, I don’t think that wins will be enough to bring people back at this point. I think the fans realize there are things more important than football. Just look at what happened with all of the National Anthem mess, the sport lost a lot of fans. I think the same thing will happen if Winston returns as QB regardless of win-loss record.

I am not a Winston hater. From the moment he was drafted, I have supported him and looked for only the best in him. I rooted for him every week, had faith he would continue to improve and lead this team, I even drafted him in fantasy football and would have happily drafted him again this year. But his pattern of poor decisions has led him into a hole, filled with lies and deceit, and he has completely lost me. I hope he is able to get his life together after this, and I hope he becomes the role model he pretended to be while here. It just should not be in Tampa Bay.

  32. Joe Says:

this is by far the worst chapter in Buccaneer history and it is only the first page of a long chapter unless the editor/Glazers step in with vision for the franchise

    PLEASE!

The Bucs started 0-26. The Bucs won a Super Bowl under the Glazer family. Mark Dominik tried to fill the roster with choirboys and to this day, there are people that would curbstomp him if they had the chance. Why? Because the Bucs lost and he drafted terribly (outside of first rounders).

If Jameis were to be cut today these same moralists (and Joe is going to guess you would be right in the middle) couldn’t wait to run Dirk Koetter out of town because the Bucs would go 3-13 due to not having a quarterback.

How many empty seats do you see at Heinz Field because Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Steelers? How many Giants fans burned their season tickets in the parking lot of Giants stadium because LT played for them? How many riots did you see in Baltimore because Ray Lewis started for the Crows?

In the immortal words of Raheem Morris, “I will tolerate you until I can replace you.”

  38. donuts Says:

Brady Quinn has no NFL credibility…he was a sloppy QB as a Brown…sat behind Tebow in Denver and was average at best in college with huge talent all around him.

Why do we care what he says about Winston who he does not watch like all of us on a weekly basis?

  39. Joe Says:

how does it fit now more than ever

Joe has explained countless times. His archives are free.

  40. BobbyBucs Says:

  41. Dewey Selmon Says:

Nothing has been worse than 0-26. nothing.

  42. lightningbuc Says:

So if Zimbabwe’s Groper wins a few games we’re all supposed to forget this “hassle” happened, lest we be a hater? Must suck to have to derive your income from something so slimy. Your wives must be so proud.

  43. BrianBucs Says:

What a joke that is.Winston should NEVER be allowed to take the field again wearing a Buc uniform. DUMP THIS TURD!

  44. Joe Says:

    Enlighten me. Explain it

Click on the magnifying class in the upper right-hand corner and a search engine pops up. Enter your search words/subject and the links magically pop up. It’s really cool. Almost like Google.

  45. Buc’n A Says:

Shameful this disgusting act is still being referred to as a “hassle”. Though it will get many people back on his side, winning is mutually exclusive to Winston’s character issues. The man has shown no real contrition and will continue living a life of entitlement as long as this kind of enablement gets published. Always appreciated the energy this small staffed web site has exerted to stand out amongst the big dogs (so to speak), but the guys have really lost me over the past couple weeks, namely the Joe who wrote this piece. Venture to say his responses would be drastically different if he had a daughter of his own.

  46. BobbyBucs Says:

    @admin

Yeah that works when I’m looking at real articles on the web

  47. JJ Says:

TouchDownTampaBay, I’ll ignore your snide remark.

The logic simple – Winston can’t practice or have any contact with the team for 3 weeks and won’t return to the team until Tuesday Sept. 25. How will his timing be with his receivers after that time off and a short week to prepare? Unless Fitz is playing poorly, I don’t see a switch being made until at least week 6 after the bye. Besides, the Bucs may want to send him a message and have him sit on the bench for awhile.

The logic simple – Winston can’t practice or have any contact with the team for 3 weeks and won’t return to the team until Tuesday Sept. 25. How will his timing be with his receivers after that time off and a short week to prepare?

He can practice with the team up until the first week (this means through the final preseason game).

  53. Donuts Says:

Yes he can practice with the SECOND team during training camp. Fitz magic will be getting all the real FIRST team reps as it should be. That is reality.

  54. Joe Says:

    More like, Jameis the Anus!

    Can’t disagree with that.

  55. JJ Says:

JJV, there will be no defamation suit. Unless Jameis has overwhelming evidence, like a recording, the court system will always believe the woman and if such evidence existed, there would have been no suspension,

Joe, thank you. I was aware he can practice with the team in the preseason. Now, I realize he plays a very different position than Doug Martin, but the 3 weeks off didn’t do him any good. And how much will Winston be able to play with the first team offense during the preseason? Probably not that much. They have to get Fitz ready.

  56. AlteredEgo Says:

On a base level I can imagine relating to Talib….Jameis….is beneath trust……..”Hit the Road Jack”….

  57. BrianBucs Says:

Let Winston go be the Savior of the Penal League.

Let’s not forget that under Arizona law this woman can still file a criminal complaint and Winston could still face criminal charges and indictments

  58. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Hang on Joe, you say his nickname fits now more than ever? Maybe you should be put in the comment cooler.

  59. Joe Says:

So if there are no court papers it didn’t happen?

Joe’s is an evidence/conviction in a court of law kind of guy.

Joe also knows calling someone a felon who has not been convicted of a felony can cost him his business if not livelihood. It may be OK for someone who types under a handle to loosely throw those claims around in a bar because they don’t like a guy, but not on this site. Joe is in no position to do that. Nor will he allow that on this site.

As always, Joe is responsible for every word typed on this site.

  60. Buddy Says:

Yawn. He will play out the rest of the season and he will be better than ever. I know the haters are gonna hate regardless. What do they call you guys? O yeah, butt hurt Mariota fans. In the end like Many or even most of you he has to pay the price for some very “poor form” but that’s all it was when it’s said and done. A drunk kid move. Most of you must not realize that he was not a man at the time and he with his new wife and child on the way will certainly change that in a very big way. You should be happy because this incident will most defiantly make him better on and off the field in the biggest ways. He couldn’t be more embarrassed and he is and will pay for his poor judgement. There is no longer a need to pull out your pitch forks. The damage is done. How about trying to give him the benefit of the doubt going forward. Let’s be real, we could use a comeback story in Tampa. The truth is we are Desperate for one. Why not the best chance we have had in YEARS to have our first franchise quarterback. Let’s be REAL HONEST, we’ve got nothing to lose. And let’s be fair, he’s already on the cross. He didn’t hurt anybody. He didn’t push it past NO. He has now paid the price for being a boy. Letsalso be honest in the FACT that most of you who are screaming for his head are just as guilty or maybe perhaps even MORE guilty of making some FAR MORE SERIOUS mistakes than he has. And you know it’s the truth. In fact the first ones who shoot and say that, that isn’t true are probably the most likely guilty. And you know it. He has and will pay dearly for being a dumb boy. But now it’s time for me and you to be realist and give him a chance to prove he’s a better human being like YOUR friends and family did FOR YOU! It’s time to reap the benefit of a new found MAN and potential Savior of this hopeless team. Guys, we got nothing left to lose and everything to gain. Again, remember when you start spouting off your self righteous stance on the matter that YES YOU were him once apon a time and YOU need a break and a chance to make it right….. GO BUCS

  61. Donuts Says:

The victim called it groping. The NFL called it sexual contact without consent. The word hassle is weak and not accurate. Not even close. JBF knows it too hence their defense in the comment section. Sir or ma’am, you don’t get to speak for Joe, and Joe doesn’t have to respect the court of law that the NFL pretends to be. –Joe

  62. Roy T. Buford Says:

[Not on this website unless you want to be run. The NFL is not a court of law. Tread carefully. And yes, it VERY much matters to Joe. — Joe.]

  63. BrianBucs Says:

  65. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

I’m calling a Bucs Superbowl run this year…

We are too loaded with talent to not be successful.

Freak the freakin Saints, Eagles, & Steelers.

All we really need is a game-manager QB to distribute the ball to our playmakers at this point.

Fitz will prob win 2 of those 1st 3 games then Jameis will sit until after the bye and then comeback and take us to the promised land.

We are so stacked on defense and offense now.

    Watch. No sarcasm at all

  66. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Joe there is a difference between not calling someone a felon and supporting that person blindly and I’m sure you know that. Let me ask you a straight question – you ok with JW in a car alone with your wife, daughter or girlfriend after a he’s been drinking heavily?

  67. Defense Rules Says:

I agree with Red86 … convinced that the Bucs can go 2-1 in those first 3 games. And if they do, I’m also convinced that Fitz will start Game 4 IF he’s been playing reasonably well to that point. Now if Fitz starts & plays poorly in Game 4, good chance Jameis will come off the bench with an opportunity to ‘save the day’. For Jameis, that’d be a perfect scenario for his return to starting.

However, if the Bucs’ led by Fitz are 3-1 at the BYE and a playing good football, it’ll be REALLY interesting to see what Koetter does at that point. Personally I’d stick with the hot hand. ‘Course none of this is a consideration because Brady Quinn and many others have already declared us to be 0-3 to open the season. Why even play the games?

  68. Joe Says:

ince you are a fan of Mike Florio, why not show his new video about Winston and Darby needing to be punished for lying?

Just went back three days in Florio’s video files. There is no such video found. If you know where it is, send a link (and Joe has watched all of his Winston-related videos the past three days. There is no video where he discusses the lying element).

  69. Donuts Says:

I love your site but stop with the legal opinion and you’re responsible for comments. You don’t know the laws regarding blogs as I have stated to you before. Not clear at all and you simply don’t know what you’re talking about.–Joe If you truly understood it, you would place a little text that states these comments are not the opinion of the site. Daily Mail UK has good language for consideration. You should consider following it too. If you want to research it it’s called Sectiom 230 of Title 47. It’s very clear.

  70. Buc’n A Says:

You’re smarter than this “Joe”. Your defense of Winston in light of the ruling and blatant disregard for the victim is only due to tribalism. Please answer this honestly…if you were to read everything that has transpired, not just in this case, but dating back to every accusation made against this man, and replace the name Jameis Winston with Ted Porter who works at Home Depot, would you feel the same? (Apologies if there is an actual T Porter under salary at Home Depot…)
    -Jordan

  71. Joe Says:

    Donuts:

Easy for you to say when you don’t have to worry about being sued or losing a business or losing revenue not to mention losing credentials with the NFL. You have nothing to lose. Joe on the other hand has everything to lose.

  72. Pete I Says:

Some of us were here for the 0-26, most posters, including the Joe’s likely weren’t. That said America’s Choir Boy is the current active stain on the franchise and one whose stink won’t go away soon.

  73. TakeYourVitaMen Says:

Way to troll the whole fanbase and call our mental integrity into question JOE.

JW himself apologized for his actions, lied throughout the investigation, and also trolled the whole fanbase with his actions.

I’m done reading this website. you’re as insane as Brady Quinn.

What a business model, i can’t wait to watch you rot. May not be this year, but its coming buddy.

  74. Sc Bucs fan Says:

See now thats an excuse I can get behind; standing behind JW not not lose NFL credentials.

  75. Donuts Says:

If the CBA covers lying to NFL investigators then there would be traction on the lying issues. However I think that was apart of the negotiation and I would imagine Winston sought legal protection from his Nov stmt.

  76. Oneilbucs Says:

To all y’all haters why don’t y’all find another team to cheer for. It’s time to move on from this and talk football. If you don’t want or like Winston go be a fan for another team. We don’t need you . I stand by Winston cause he is on the team I like , and I like the way he plays . That’s it I like big Ben. He’s ok to me . Y’all don’t even know these dudes y’all at like y’all know them personally. They just man not God . Let these guys move on with there life’s y’all are not God . So stop judging every body that you don’t know Judge Trump he have job that can effect you personally but y’all never say nothing about that, but y’all kept talking about something that happen 2 years ago if anything really happened.

  78. GhostofSchiano Says:

Disagree with you on that Joe, he is America’s poor off the field decision making quarterback.

Still have hope he gets it all together and puts this all behind him.

Maybe after a few solid seasons (Scandal free) he can be America’s quarterback but right now….No sir.

  79. AlteredEgo Says:

    This is so sad……

  80. JJ Says:

“Why weren’t Jameis Winston, Ronald Darby punished for not telling the truth?” is a text story on the PFT home page.

Did Jameis and Darby lie during the official investigation or just to the media before they were formally interviewed?

  81. csidedave Says:

Moving on from Jameis because he cannot be trusted is a football decision, Doing it because of the grope is a moral decision.

  82. JimmyJack Says:

Defense Rules/Red86 I agree with you guys about our chances in those opening games. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach how our fan base is already rolling out excuses and passes for losing football games. Our fan base and media members can be as mentally soft as the team.

Yes, of course it hurts to lose your starter but it’s as if the fanbase, and media especially, would like us to use the Winston suspension to lower our expectations of the other 52 players on the roster. It is absolutely pathetic. These fans have just given up. I’m embarrassed to root for the same team as them.

I have my expectations for this team with Winston playing. The expectations are not the same with Fitz playing but the difference is not that drastic. Last time I checked Fitz has started probably 10 seasons worth of games in the league. I think the guy knows whats up. It’s not like we have an unproven backup, like many teams do. That would be a totally different scenario.

If you don’t think we can win any of them games then please scalp your tickets to some real fans Fans that don’t run with this 0-3 narrative the media is selling. Last time I took note these media clowns can’t predict NFL games to save their lives. Happens every Sunday during the pregames.

  83. Donuts Says:

    Team JBF
I understand and can truly appreciate your concern. I have seen this before and am working on an issue semi related to your concern but more serious. However I am not aware of any blogger losing his or her NFL credentials specifically relating to the comment section of their respective website. Again, as Joe wrote below. You are misinformed. At least, it’s a very gray area and Joe is not going to argue it here. As for credentials, Joe really doesn’t care when it comes to content but certainly isn’t going to allow himself to get hosed because of comments.–Joe

We did get spanked by the Saints last year. That’s what happens when you are not prepared. We came back to compete with them and won the rematch.

Y’all act like the Saints are on another planet as Us. It is very sad how quickly you fold. You know players do actually read some of this junk don’t you? Maybe that’s why the team is soft year after year.

We’ve(Well you not me) already basically excused this team from starting out 0-3. Well done Tampa.

Joe there is a difference between not calling someone a felon and supporting that person blindly and I’m sure you know that. Let me ask you a straight question – you ok with JW in a car alone with your wife, daughter or girlfriend after a he’s been drinking heavily?

No offense but I would not want my wife in a car alone with you, Joe or any stranger who has been drinking.

  87. JimmyJack Says:

Dalmatian…….You reminded me of a point I thought of the other day.

Why are their woman Uber drivers picking up drunk dudes at 3am(assuming the Winston ride happened post midnight?

Yeah yeah, whatever I know I’m being sexist but I don’t care. Picking up drunk dudes, which tends to get vulgar by nature, is men’s work……..Absolutely not excusing what Winston did but hot chicks should not be doing this type of work……If my household was in desperate need of cash I’d be selling off body organs before my wife took that gig.

  88. JimmyJack Says:

Actually ugly chicks shouldn’t do that work either since beers goggles are real.

  89. Joe Says:

Why are their woman Uber drivers picking up drunk dudes at 3am(assuming the Winston ride happened post midnight?

When she received the work order, how did she know whoever she picked up was hammered?

Good luck making any cash with Uber late at night not picking up parties from a bar.

  90. JimmyJack Says:

Joe just saying that picking up vulgar drunks should be a man’s job. I’ve already acknowledged it’s a sexist comment……..I also don’t think girls should have to collect the carts at Publix. That’s not the way it worked way back when when I was doing that job.

  95. donuts Says:

Joe if I am misinformed about Section 230 of Title 47 please explain to me why I am misinformed? I would love to know your legal perspective on this issue since you want to tell me I am wrong but not why.

    Here is the exact language:
CDA Section 230(c)(1) states that “no provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.”

Plaintiffs sometimes argue that Section 230 does not apply because the claims they are asserting do not treat the defendant as a publisher or speaker. This has not always been a successful argument, but it has prevailed in several recent cases.

Your readers’ comments, entries written by guest bloggers, tips sent by email, and information provided would all likely be considered information provided by another content provider. This would mean that you would not be held liable for defamatory statements contained in it. (eff.org) … The commenters of this site are “guests” and considered another content provider or third party content providers. If you dont believe me, ask Florio. I know you trust him. If you wondering where it has not prevailed, sex traffic industry tried to use CDA230 unsuccessfully. I think a football blog wont be seen in the same light as those trafficking in humans.

AGAIN, Joe already wrote to you that this will not be debated in the comments section here. Lastly (keyword: lastly) the approval process of a comment creates a different animal. Meanwhile, you’ve already gone from Joe you’re wrong, to stating that whatever you are arguing here is open to great interpretation. –Joe

Run to the defense of a scumbag player! Argue one post, then throw the race card!
    Repeat!

With an occasion BS comment about Gerald McCoy- who is one of the Buc players who is great on and off the field.

Support Anus Jameis all you want. His stupid decisions will get him run out of the league soon enough.

So many ex Bucs in the news for criminal activity lately. Winslow, Kieth McCants Boderick Thomas, etc- you’d think you were the GM

  101. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I will be happy if Fitz can win one game. I’m not nearly so confident in him as others.

Nick Foles has one good season and suddenly everyone thinks a career backup can lead us to the promise land? That’s just not realistic.

Fitz beat 2 bad teams last year, so what makes anyone think he can win any of the games that are setting a record for the hardest three game stretch in history?

  102. donuts Says:

You do not approve each and every comment so thats a gray stmt (unless your robotic and can stay up 24/7/365) so that “approval process/editing” does not hold water and even if you did CDA 230 would still protect you! Editing/approval by the computer service/blog is still covered by CDA230 language. What I wrote or quoted was the law. Its been interpreted the same way since 1996 in every instance regarding reader comments in a sports blog. Its not open to interpretation and lets say you got a bad judge (which can and does happen on tech cases) there is thing called appeal.

NFL would not remove media credentials over fan comments (not you but us fans). Never. Its unAMERICAN and goes against freedom of speech or First Amendment. Florio and MSM would go nuts on the NFL because it would change the game/clicks. We both know Florio writes at times to stir the pot. A great example was Tom Jones on Winston. Is he worried? Not the slightest.

  103. Joe Says:

NFL would not remove media credentials over fan comments (not you but us fans).

That’s a gross assumption on your part coming from someone Joe is guessing has never dealt with the NFL. Joe himself as seen two local media folks have their credentials yanked for much less things than calling players felons.

Essentially, the NFL and individual teams can (and have) revoked credentials on a whim (see Barstool Sports for one example). Joe is not about to risk losing his business just so people posting comments behind anonymous handles can get their rocks off calling players felons (among other things) when they have never been convicted much less had charges filed.

If Joe not wanting to risk being sued or having his business destroyed irritates you, Joe is sorry. That’s how things are on this here website. If you simply cannot sleep at night because you cannot slander, libel or downright lie about players, Joe is confident there are other areas on the internet which will allow you such freedoms.

Commenters have zero to lose. Joe has everything to lose.

Allowing commenters to libel, slander or flat out lie about anyone employed in the NFL or the Bucs simply is non-negotiable on this site.

  104. Bucsfanman Says:

Bonzai- I hate that we continue to diminish Fitzy’s wins by saying they were terrible teams. He beat the teams in front of him which is all he needs to do. He doesn’t get to choose, nor do we. Besides, the SOS philosophy is B.S. IMO. those teams were successful in 2017. What’s to say that by the time we meet, they are either decimated or in turmoil. We have to stop acting like we can’t beat these teams!
“Savior” is not a word I would attach to Jameis Winston as yet. If he returns week 4 and leads us to the playoffs, frankly, that’s what he is SUPPOSED to do and what fans should expect from the #! overall pick.
In short, if he doesn’t lead us to wins, he’s as good as gone. And not because of his issues, but because of his production. So, there’s that.

  105. Bucsfanman Says:

Joe- It’s YOUR site. You shouldn’t have to keep defending YOUR practices, as such. Frankly, your debate with donuts was a little distracting.
Sorry donuts! You could be right, but, what difference does it make? You have choices for entertainment. If you don’t like Joe’s explanation or practices, well, go somewhere else. I’m not saying it to be a smart a$$, only that I CHOOSE to come here. Just 2 cents from a guy with no sense!
That said, I should probably have my head checked!!!

  106. Bobby M. Says:

Ultimately I think Licht is safe….hes put together a legit roster this year, and while he did draft Winston, the Glaziers signed off on it so everyone knew this was a possibility. I think Koetter and/or Smith are definitely in the hot seat….Either side of the ball struggles and at least one of them is gone. If Winston is still inconsistent, Koetter probably is gone and Licht gets one more shot to hire a fix while keeping Winston on basically 3 prove it contracts (5th yr…1st tag…2nd tag). After that, Winston will be what he is.

  107. tval Says:

Great work, joe..must be said. The reflexive coverage by our sports media is shameless at best. Jameis no doubt is polarizing, but that makes him a Tom bradyesque character without 20 years in… the Bucs are gonna be THE TICKET…this or next year. I have the utmost confidence in him as a young man, father, and most importantly to MOST HERE leader of the Bucs. This doesn’t seem to be considered a very serious issue, with all due respect, from what I’ve gleaned from fans outside media…I’d be hearing about it..:)

I honestly can care less about wins. I’ll support tan Fitzpatrick when he takes the field. But if the glazers and Licht continues to roll with this scum bag, Im out.

The glazers will have a hard time finding a new GM and coach that will put up with this nonsense.

I feel for koetter Bc this team thought hard knocks was a distraction. This is worse.

Better prep for the number one pick and hopefully a new qb.

  121. Fire Goodell Says:

Mark Ingram is suspended the first four games of the season, Carson Wentz may not be ready or fully healed and the Steelers tend to choke early in the season. So surely there’s at least one win.

  122. Josh Says:

    @AlteredEgo

The Bucs were one of the worst teams in the NFL last year and they have the most difficult 3-game start in NFL history.

    Thinking we’d start 0-3 isn’t a “loser mentality,” it’s a realistic mentality…

  123. Tony LA Says:

The only solution for Jameis is a simple one:

    1. He needs to make a grand gesture – donate his entire 2018 salary to a cause that supports sexual assault victims and programs that educate younger generations to prevent further incidents like these in the future.

    2. Be very public about the counseling he goes through based on his previous actions

    3. Calm himself and compose himself during pregame and game action. No more rah-rah and no more getting so animated with the other teams during games.

    4. Win. Lower turnovers. Win some more.

If he does 1-3 he has a slight chance at redeeming himself. If he does 1-4 the city will love him again.

Argue against it all you want, but he must do those 4 things if he truly wants redemption.

  124. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    @Tony LA

Incredibly well said, Tony. I believe you are right on the money that it would take these type of gestures (if not more) for Jameis to restore his name & trust.

It is unfortunate because I believe that he truly does have a good heart and wants to do good things, but his mistakes have been colossal.

  125. Fire Lichtt Says:

I think he must’ve read one of my comments to generate his take. This guy Quinn gets it. Good take! Famous Jameis and savior need to be paired together more often. I’d even be as far to go if he saves licht and dirk’s jobs with his potentially world class QB play we’ve seen flashes of and late game come backs he be even more of a savior.
