DeSean Jackson: “It’s A Tough Situation”

June 30th, 2018

DeSean Jackson talks Jameis

A Buccaneers player has broken the maddening silence since Jameis Winston was slapped with a three-game suspension and labeled a sex offender by the NFL.

It’s DeSean Jackson, courtesy of the TMZ Sports. They caught up with Jackson at an airport, presumably “LAX,” where TMZ reporters patrol for celebrities.

The full video below. Jackson says the suspension of a America’s Quarterback is a “tough situation” and it will slow the important work needed to get the Bucs offense humming.

Asked if he’s talked to Jameis and how he’s feeling, Jackson replied, “He good. He a soldier. He a champ. He been through a lot in his career, you know. He’ll be alright. He’ll bounce back.”

  1. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Jameis the Champ, America’s QB! That will get em all started. When one falls you pick up the rifle and keep marching on. Go Bucs!

  2. Anonymous Says:

Translation: I really fu☆ked up signing with the Bucs.

Poor Jackson got blindsided by Jameis.

  3. MadMax Says:

Dude, its football…..no rifles or soldiering is going on here….no comparison whatsoever, so stop with that crap!

I remember kellen winslow referring to being a soldier and look at that punk now!

  4. MadMax Says:

This jit is so laughable! The only thing keeping me a Buc fan and still an NFL fan is the good guys out there….def not the thugs and kneelers!

  5. Neil__ryan Says:

The players love him so should the fans

  6. Maze Says:

Translation: I never should have joined this Winston circus.

  7. Marc Says:

Guy was walking through LAX with his hoodie up in June. Clearly didn’t want people asking how he felt about America’s Groper.

  8. JJ Says:

TMZ Sports is also reporting that Winston is “privately telling friends he did NOT grope the woman.”

I want to believe him, but considering he was drunk, how does he really know?

  9. Chris in WA Says:

I know he’s getting paid 11 million a year yadda yadda… but I do kinda feel bad for D-Jax coming here. He still has the speed and quickness that made him elite but last year was one of his worst from a production standpoint. Still from what I can tell he handled it will and didn’t act like a diva to the media or be a locker room cancer.

Brenston Buckner is another one I feel bad for coming here. This team really deserves to win and I don’t think it’s as bad as the national media makes it out to be. I oddly have faith in Fitzpatrick to win a game or dare I say it… two games the first three weeks.

  10. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Lol @ Anonymous and Maze!!!

    So true…

  11. Gene Deckehoff is my hero Says:

JJ obviously hasn’t been drunk. Alcohol intoxicatiion doesn’t mean you can’t remember. Alcohol can change people and make others uncomfortable around them. That’s what Jameis apologized for… “Drinkers regret” should be a term that is easily treated with abstaining from alcohol and continued therapy which the NFL has ordered. He’s got too much talent to win and too much money to mess that up. He’s a smart man and won’t mortgage his future riches without complying to the NFL agreement.

  12. Trench War Says:

….and in the world of “athlete speak” today Jackson said, Jameis who? Time to focus on the guys who are playing. This is unfortunate but we need time to start healing and to support this team, even without Jameis. At least he can do some extensive work in the preseason games. Keep Fitz fresh

  13. Defense Rules Says:

@DJax … “What you go through hopefully makes you better.” DJax’s closing words in that interview are really about all anyone can hope for at this point, especially Jameis. None of us know what REALLY went on in that Uber. None of us know what the NFL investigation REALLY found. None of us know what REALLY went on in the negotiations with the NFL afterwards. And none of us REALLY know how the Glazers will ultimately respond to this ugly situation.

But what we do know is that this has hurt the Bucs … at least temporarily. And we do know that it’s hurt Jameis … at least temporarily. IMO, it’s not about 2nd chances or 3rd chances, it’s about the hope for some REAL change. As DJax said, “What you go through hopefully makes you better.”

Whether Jameis remains as the Bucs’ starting QB or not is obviously up for debate; too much water may have flowed under the bridge at this point for that to happen. We don’t know how the Glazers will respond. Thankfully that decision isn’t ours to make, because it’s a toughie. However it turns out though, the Bucs as a T-E-A-M are at yet another crossroads. How they respond to this situation as a T-E-A-M will set the tone for not just 2018 IMO, but for several years to come. All any of us can hope for at this point is that they pull together and show the world that T-E-A-M really is about more than just one person.

  14. Roy T. Buford Says:

This “interview” is a good get for TMZ and for Joe to pick it up. As I said before, take this off of the players by putting Jameis in the background for 2018. Not team captain, not the starter, not the face of the franchise–let him earn it back. No one on the team is going to publicly bash him–that is a no brainer. Nor will they comment on what should happen to him. So let’s qualify Jackson’s comments.
“He good.” Yes, lots of habitual lying sex offenders are good people deep down. Not.
“He a soldier.” He may be militant, but he’s no soldier.
“He a champ.” Maybe he was; but on and off the field, he’s a proeven loser.
“He been through a lot in his career, you know.” Yes, he has. And it was all self-inflicted. And his selfish rottten character has put coaches, owners, team mates, female victims, fans, and family all through pain.
“He’ll be alright. He’ll bounce back.” Will he? What happens when he denies the next allegation? He got into trouble the very first time he was outside of team control. The very first time.

And he can’t hit DJax or any other broad side of the barn. Not a single time.

  15. JJV Says:

The owners have a different opinion and why Jameis is going nowhere. This was from an interview in March this year:
    Do you believe him, Joel?

    Glazer didn’t hesitate.

“Yeah. Jameis has been nothing but a great person since he’s been with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Glazer said. “And he’s done everything we’ve asked of him. He’s been a great leader. He’s been unbelievable in the community and we have great confidence in Jameis. So we focus on the great things Jameis has done.”

It’s not the first time Winston has been accused of sexual assault. Although two criminal investigations said there wasn’t enough evidence to proceed with a case brought in 2012 when he was a student at Florida State, he settled a civil lawsuit with Erica Kinsman of Zephyrhills in 2016.

Glazer was asked Tuesday why he believed those types of allegations have been directed at Winston.

“I can’t get into what other people say and speculate and all that,” Glazer said. “I can only speak to the person that I know, the person I have known. And the person everyone I know knows. That’s what I’ll speak to, and that’s a first-class individual, hard-working, wonderful in the community, a leader and everything that we would’ve hoped for in our quarterback.”

  16. Marc Says:

Did I just read a commenter above call America’s Groper a “smart man”? Bahahabahabahaha!!!! That was rich! Time to take of your pewter tinged glasses, buddy!

  17. Pete I Says:

That’s what I’ll speak to, and that’s a first-class individual, hard-working, wonderful in the community, a leader and everything that we would’ve hoped for in our quarterback.”

Thus why we have poor ownership and the boys ain’t their dad. Everything we could want in a QB. Before his suspension JW didn’t win games, was a turnover machine, was immature.

Now Joel will have to add that he wants the face of the franchise to be America’s Choir Boy, the disturbed man that touches women inappropriately , drinks to much and lies about it.

His comments came before America’s Choir Boy was suspended and before the PR backlash and negative press they are facing.

D-Jax is likely to catch just as many passes from Fitz as he was from America’s Choir Boy in those first 3 games.

  18. Roy T. Buford Says:

Words from Joel Glazer’s interview in March tell me he was as blindsided by Winston’s lies as the rest of us, as many facts and some circumstantial liklihoods emerged from the NFL investigation of Winston. It tells me Joel Glazer would have a very different opinion now. That is, Winston is not a great leader; NFL reports show he’s not a good person; community service is voided by sex crimes and deceit; and clearly confidence is shaken now. As of March, he gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now Jameis makes him look foolish and puts him in a tough spot–hence not a peep from a specific person at One Buc Place–just the generic, blanket statement. That tells me they are still weighing options, listening to the opinions out there. Regardless of what they do with Jameis, the whole lot of the front office will make the blunder of the century if they don’t bring in a second game-experienced QB to spell or even compete with Fitz. Don’t count of Jameis again. Make him grab and claw his way back (probably a bad choice of words).

  19. Bird Says:

Here is an angle / conspiracy theory:

The owners are done with Jameis. How can you trust him after he lied directly to your face and now you invest up to 100 mil in him. It looks bad on owners especially since is on field play is just ehhh.

Maybe they are hoping he comes back plays good enough and doesn’t F up ….to have value again so he can be traded to a nfl qb hungry team. He was number one pick and organization invested time and money into him. So getting picks back would be dream scenario. They wouldn’t be high but anything would be gravy at this point. Cause right now his value is poop. Not sure who would risk any draft picks on him when facing be banned from nfl.

  20. Bird Says:

    Lamarcus

Remember when you called people idiots for criticizing him. You even called him a “hall of Famer ”

Dude. Hope you aren’t still snorting crushed up paint chips.

  21. Pete I Says:

Keeping him will also look bad on the owners. They have to decide if the face of the franchise, the huge America’s Choir Boy banner adorning their stadium, is the troubled man who touches women inapproprately, drinks to much and lies about it?

    Or they don’t.

Keep him and you will deal with this all season and you are left hoping his play on the field improves.

As far as trades go, well Tom Jones in his column states it well “The rest of the country sees winston as nothing but trouble” Winston may be damaged goods.

  22. Marc Says:

    GENE

You think America’s Groper is “smart”?! Bahahahahaha!!!! That’s rich! Some Bucs fans truly need to get their heads out of their arse!

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The players will be the first to forgive Jameis…..many fans, the last. All of this about locker room problems is complete speculation without merit…..give me some examples of other players having those problems.
    Jameis will get another shot.

  24. Pete I Says:

Let me fix that; America’s Choir Boy IS damaged goods. The only question is how damaged. For most teams I think the answer way to much.

  25. JMan5 Says:

Jon Robinson went to the team with the correct qb pick

  26. JameisNOT Says:

DJ is simply picking up a check from the Bucs aka Browns of the South. He is way past his prime. Just like Vincent Jackson did. Don’t forget he was the one that was in total shock on the sidelines during JW’s big “TASTE A WIN” speech in NOLA.

  27. mark2001 Says:

JJ…or maybe he can’t handle the truth yet. That wouldn’t be a good sign.

  28. Buc believer Says:

I will bet $100 to your nickel that “Kate’s” lawyer and accountant are hard at work figuring how many 0’s to put at the back of the number they have for the upcoming lawsuits. She will be laughing all the way to Beverly Hills. She sure won the Uber lottery when poor Jameis got in her car. Hell he can grab my crotch “allegedly” for that kind of money. Then I can be traumatized as well! She probably enjoyed it!

  29. adam from ny Says:

i heard kate was wearing a hiked up mini skirt and no panties…straight teasing yung jameis…she was flashing him that poo – and his drunk ass went for it

TMZ Sports is also reporting that Winston is “privately telling friends he did NOT grope the woman.”

I believe him. This is all been about avoiding bad publicity for the NFL, guilty or not. In his statement, Jameis did not admit to anything, unlike what some are claiming.

But you know what? all of these media guys talking down about him? It’s not about reporting, it’s about self promoting. “Hey, I think what he did was wrong too!”

I’m pretty disgusted by fans being so gullible to media and trolls.

  32. BucdUp Says:

@RoyBuford and the rest of the “Bucs fans”

You are the biggest joke in this thread so far. The NFL gives the sexual offender label out too quickly and obviously is just trying to make a statement using Jameis.

Normally they give at least six games in those situations, do not try to negotiate, and fight for their side all the way up to supreme Court.. in Jameis case they negotiated. That is the REAL FACT about this situation. They must not be too sure as to what happened way back then or they would have gave Winston no room to negotiate to three games.. Hell, the PED guys get 4 week suspension.. is PED use worse than Sexual Assault!?!

Quit using your biased views to claim facts on a situation you have no idea about. Unless you were involved with the investigation, was in the car that night, or are a personal friend of Winston or the Bucs then you should stop acting like you know what’s best for the franchise and support your team.

If the Bucs aren’t your team then stop trolling and get a life.

  33. tval Says:

She lied!! Plain and simple to see for anyone without their hater blinders on…lol!!! Walk the plank, virtue signalers. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!! And, YES, I’m laughing at “kate”, and YOU! And I’m surprised Pete showed back up….heheheheheeeeee

  34. tval Says:

Bucbonzai ACTUALLY GETS IT!! These “media” guys are just making money and pretending they’re angels,,I mean L.t. And Keyshawn are BEYOND laughable..and it goes ALL THE WAY BACK to clown Bo Jackson supporting his arrested auburn qb Nick Marshall and admonishing Jameis publicly. EVERYONE seems to have a serious hate for Jameis because he doesn’t kiss their butt…#blacktrump…..lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. tval Says:

With the leaks, ALREADY SURROUNDING THE CASE, the NFL DOESNT HAVE A SHRED, or they’d be terrified of the p.r. Nightmare they’d face…nor would they give Jameis his “out” in his statement….and “kate” wouldn’t have accepted….LAUGHABLE! Wearing my Jameis jersey in O.H.I.O. TODAY!!!! If you believe attorney clunes anonymous operatives story, you need SERIOUS help..he’d be in jail or unemployed if he weren’t a lawyer…lol

  36. mtbucsfan Says:

Everypne says cut ties with him. Just like Big Ben and Vick. People will forgive and move on. About the time we cut him he will be on a redemption tour with another team and be a champ. The Jags could easily grab him do some work with him PR wise and thats the last piece they need for a Super Bowl team. He has messed up bad and he knows it. But he will come back strong and winning cures most. He will be on the tightest leash ever.

  37. BucsFanScout3 Says:

All these ignorant Bucs fans are what make it so difficult to continue to be a Bucs Fan. YOU are the ones that drive Bucs players crazy and right out of town and into the Pro-Bowl. Chill out with the pessimistic stance and support your team’s franchise player, correction ALL Buccaneer players.

    Cue Conte Haters…

  38. Eric Says:

Bonsai you are one hell of a loyal jock sniffer. Is not even worth trying to talk to someone as dumb and disgusting as you. You are what I call a “pathetic excuse for a human “. Your belief in the racist probably comes from your allegiance to the college you never attended. FSU scumbag!

  39. Jeff Clarke Says:

JAMEIS has been through a lot? How about the women he has taken liberties with? Want to bet there are more who never came forward? The Bucs deserve this for not caring about character.

  40. Buccfan37 Says:

  41. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    GDismyhero…
Apparently you and I know Jameis in ways this mob doesn’t. If they weren’t seeing him from their own shaded lens they would realize. Because JW has no witness he is at the mercy of the NFL who is allowing her to have her say and he MUST stay on script or lose everything!

Jameis NEVER lied, we just wasn’t allowed to have what they already know. Their is alot of word parsing going on. The accusers statement lines her up with Ericka’s lawyer so you can if you wanted to, see the goal from the same LAWYER!

Jameis realize alcohol is not his friend…and needs to stay away from it not because he is an alcoholic but because he is naturally animated not being able to handle alcohol is not a good combination.

Yes their are many assaulters out there but there is also a lot of targeted men, especially young black men! Let’s be real Jameis just made it easy for them!

I’m done with this site also, “America’s Quarterback” is the latest in a long line of idiotic nick-names that third-person using, man-boob sporting, beer-chugging, D%$&-carrying, brain cell lacking, non-imagination having, diabetics that run this “site” keep annoying people with. This site attracts the foulest, jackwagon, hate-spewing “fans” there are and they lap it up.
