“Show Us The Math, Roger. Show Us The Work.”

June 27th, 2018

Ira demands decency and transparency for Bucs fans in today’s column.

BY IRA KAUFMAN

Back in the day, there was a purity about math that I found intoxicating.

It helped that I was adept with numbers while so many of my fellow students freaked out when they went to algebra class.

What I loved about algebra was that I could check my answers to make sure they were right. You plug in the number and everything has to jive.

If not, you knew you had made a mistake. In any case, you left the test with a very good sense of your score.

That’s called clarity.

When the NFL finally puts an end to this marathon negotiating session and issues its findings in the Jameis Winston investigation, I want clarity. What I don’t want is a vague statement that Winston is being punished because he somehow violated the league’s personal conduct policy.

Vague doesn’t cut it here. Roger Goodell’s crack investigative team has had eight months to figure out what happened on the night in question.

I want details. I want to see the math.

In the Ezekiel Elliott case, there was ample evidence that the Dallas running back was indeed guilty of domestic violence. In Deflategate, Tom Brady failed to cooperate with the NFL probe and destroyed his cellphone.

Sorry, Tom. Take a seat.

What do we have in Ubergate?

Show me the math, Roger. Show me the work behind your imminent decision to force Winston to the sidelines as he embarks on the most important season of his professional career.

The NFL’s letter to the Bucs will leak. Of that we can be certain. It always does.

Commissioner Roger Goodell

And when the league’s explanation becomes public, Winston and his teammates deserve full transparency regarding the details of this probe. The organization and its fans deserve a full accounting of why the NFL decided to take Winston’s livelihood away for a portion of the year.

You don’t suspend a starting quarterback unless you’re sure he is guilty as charged.

If the NFL knows for a fact that Winston groped that Uber driver, say so. Get it out there so Buc fans can make up their minds whether they feel comfortable supporting No. 3 as the face of this franchise.

I’m already on record as saying that if Winston touched this driver inappropriately, the Bucs should be on the lookout for another quarterback.

But my confidence level is low that we will get anything close to a definitive accounting of that fateful 2016 evening in Arizona.

Show us the math, Roger. Show us the work.

If not, you’re like a lot of Americans taking an algebra test.

Just guessing.

Just guessing? It’s Jaboo the Mental Midget – no guessing needed.

  2. SC Bucs Fan Says:

If JW wasn’t guilty he should be shouting it from the rooftops. Instead, he’s silent. That’s all the math I need. Hell, even OJ said he was not guilty.

  3. Casey Morgan Says:

He did it. I just want to see if Kate the Uber driver is cute or if JW was really drunk…

  4. JMan 5 Says:

When will we find out how long Darren sharper errr. Jameis Winston is suspended?

  5. DB55 Says:

My money is on a vague statement with a lesser penalty forced upon Goodell by a “well-intentioned” media.

  6. Dooshlarue Says:

That’s cold Casey……. hilarious, but cold!

  7. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

The Joes brought up a good point in the last podcast.

As per this girl’s story, he put his hand on her crotch, she then turned to him and said “what are you doing” he then realized she didnt want it and promptly removed his hand. To be clear, Joe brought up the hypothetical that they may have been talking, flirting, etc. –Joe

If Jameis is drunk and flirting, and perceives this girl as flirting back… while putting his hand on her crotch is bad. is it really the end of the world? He stopped the second she said “no” (well she didnt actually even say that, but obv implied it) and that’s according to HER STORY.

Even if this did happen there was obv no violent intention, no intention to “sexually assault”, and no intention to do anything against her will he misread a situation.

Now I do agree that this is still inappropriate behavior. But is it really the worst thing? are we calling for us to give up on Jameis because he made a sexual advance that was turned down and when he realized she was saying no, made ZERO effort to go against her will.

Idk. I dont like all this that is going on. But I was thinking about this this morning. Food for thought

  8. D-Rome Says:

    3 – x = New Bucs Quarterback.

What is the value of x?

  9. Walter Seidel Says:

JBF and Ira….please stop the feigned “I support Jameis because I don’t like Goodell” crapola.
Umm, Ira is quite friendly with Goodell. –Joe

  10. Buddha Says:

Look, I said three years ago, don’t touch Jamies. You may be able to change a person’s behavior, but you can’t change their character (as Freud once said). Once he was drafted, however, I rooted for him.

Still, I don’t see how we’ll ever know. We know he’s capable of this but that doesn’t count as evidence. We may learn that he was indeed alone with the female driver. That doesn’t prove anything but opportunity. But how are they going to show that he “groped” her genitals? Unless she had a camera in her vehicle or unless he confesses that will never happen. I think Jamies is an extraordinary talent and a bad actor, but I hope in our country we still have a presumption of innocence. The commissioner can’t be judge and jury. Sure he can form an opinion just like every one else, but an opinion is not a fact.

  11. Mike Johnson Says:

I just want to know why Jameis is still hangin out with..THUGS. One of the guys he was with is now doing time for Rape? Birds of that feather..(you complete the rhyme). I meajn you would thin Jameis realizes he has moved up a notch..supposedly in class right? I do hope this wises him up a bit. Cause his image is starting to get real…Shot. I wonder if Mariota is laughing right now.

  12. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

sh!t, going off this girls story again, “what are you doing” isnt even obvious that she meant no, he could have tried to push that situation at all but didnt.

All I got to say is, maybe its not that big a deal. Listen. I dont want to disrespect women and their fight. I am a big supporter of it and for being able to have a voice.

However I have also had girls make advances at me at parties many times and touch me inappropriately as part of that advance. At the end of the day, if I rejected their advance and they didnt push it past that, then I never held anything against them

  13. DB55 Says:

because he made a sexual advance that was turned down and when he realized she was saying no, made ZERO effort to go against her will.
    ———-
This! When does it turn from a failed advance to assault? Forgive my ignorance.

  14. Buccernutter Says:

    Jolly.

Excellent point. I agree 100%. Unfortunately a lot of people have not been exposed to the real world or the dating scene and will disagree with us.

I will say one thing, this whole incident has really shown me a lot about the people of Tampa.

  15. DB55 Says:

shown me a lot about the people of Tampa.
    ————-
I know! But it’s not their fault, have you seen the National public education rankings? Tampa just made it, barely, that’s why there’s no nfl teams in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.

  16. AlteredEgo Says:

Clarity….wishful thinking….in geometry the term describing the findings will be …..obtuse

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Mike Johnson

What’s it say when the “thugs” say that JW3 is out of control and they need to send this fool “Home” for the night!!!!!!!

  18. Buccernutter Says:

I’ve read a lot of the court docs and evidence associated with Zeke in light of Jameis’s accusations and I gotta tell you that his accusations and crime were sooooo much worse it’s not even comparable. Then the dude proceeds to remove a girls top AFTER the crimes and it was in camera. Yet people here are willing to cut Jameis from the team and Dallas fans haven’t barely even acknowledged his accusations since. He’s actually been glorified by several outlets because of his play. Oh ya and there was a mountain of evidence that proved what he did.

The public assassination of jameis is mind blowing to me. I just don’t get these fans. I completely respect the girl and how it made her feel. I am disgusted by jw if he did it but seriously, how is his backlash so much more severe that Zeke’s? Hate me if u want but I just don’t think the time is matching the crime.

  19. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

@Joe my apologies. Didnt mean to associate you with my whole point entirely (though you may agree idk lol)

Basically just meant that the hypothetical you brought up in the podcast had me rethinking if this accusation is really all that bad even if true.

  20. Buccernutter Says:

    DB55

And that is why we have some of the dumbest fans in sports. We barely made the cut.

  21. bradinator Says:

@Jolly If this was a date, I might back your logic. Unfortunately it wasn’t a date. Just some lady trying to make a few extra bucks driving people around. A total stranger. Would it ever occur to you to grab a total stranger like that? I’m gonna guess and say “no”. If you did that at the local Hooter’s or any other bar, the bouncers would hurl you face first into the parking lot. Is it the end of the world, nope. It wasn’t even the end of the world for the Uber driver, she told him to knock it off, then told her employers, who banned Jameis from ever riding with Uber. For you and me, no big deal. tale Lyft instead. For a multi million dollar NFL QB with a shady past that everyone said would never happen again? You get the picture.

  22. JMan 5 Says:

Joe is bringing up hypotheticals like maybe they were flirting. When are we gonna here how Kate was wearing provacative clothes?

  23. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

LMAO, Jolly takes a hypothetical from Joe and runs a marathon with it. I swear we have such a dumb fan base. These guys can’t read!

  24. Buccernutter Says:

You don’t need to be on a date to get mixed signals. I’m pretty sure he was drink at this point and his judgement was off. I’m in no way discrediting her but the fact she outlined the trip went on with no further incident and did not report to police or the media should speak volumes. Dude has terrible game. Shouldn’t be touching girls unless they want it period. But this could have been much worse and I just don’t see it as evil as everyone else does. His lying is the worst part to me. If it’s true. But still doesn’t necessitate this backlash. It’s an embarrassing situation.

  25. VA Tom Says:

So, you’re chatting with a drunk dude at a bar. Laughing, chilling, he puts his hand on your junk… hey, he’s just flirting? Or do you clobber him? I mean, if he’s just flirting, like a drunk in a cab, you wouldnt hold it against him would ya?

  26. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Buccernutter

The difference is that Jw3 was already supposed to have had his wake up call!!!! He was warned and schooled to walk a straight line!!!!!! HE Even was not allowed at draft night as a known overall #1 pick!!!!!!!!!!

And I do think that their is a difference in standards between RB and Qb’s!!!! Their is a reason why QB’s get 3 to 4 times more than RB’s!!!!!!

And if it was just a bad sexual advance, then why lie about it???? Why make plea-deals with the NFL???? why the cover-up????

  27. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

    @ TDTB

    Her story isnt a hypothetical.

According to her story, he withdrew immediately and it was no more than 3-5 secs.

According to her story she actually said “whats up with that” (sorry I was wrong earlier.)

Joes hypothetical about flirting plays into that.

I still believe that that behavior is wrong, and warrants a suspension. My point is that its not as big a deal as people are making it.

The accusations and crimes other active players have committed are much worse and ppl have already forgotten.

Regardless of hypothetical. Jameis is being accused of a spurred sexual advance with zero effort to do anything against her will after she turned him down. That is all her accusation is.

  28. Tony LA Says:

    Jolly,

You’re a bit off base here. As men, we do not have the right to go and grab any woman’s privates in the hopes they like it. We cannot assume consent until we hear the word “no”. That’s the entire issue/movement that is going on now – that men, for centuries have assumed a “yes” until they heard a “no”.

Yes, it is MUCH worse to continue that action after a woman has implied she wants the man to stop. But groping is groping and that is a form of assault.

Let me put it this way… is it okay to just walk up to someone and punch them, but immediately stop if they say they don’t want to fight?
    Hell no.
    Try it and find out.
    This is akin to that.

Yes – there are gray areas – trying to kiss a woman, for instance… but grabbing a woman by the crotch is not a gray area. Not at all.

I’m holding judgment until we hopefully hear all the facts. But it’s a damn slippery slope to try to rationalize what Jameis allegedly did. It’s wrong. Period.

  29. Buccernutter Says:

Realist don’t take me so seriously. This is mostly hypothetical talk. I’m merely playing devil’s advocate which most of this fan base is too stupid to do. 2 different sides and from we see on camera, Jameis isn’t a monster.

As far as the invitation to the draft, he chose to stay home. Unless you know more than what’s been reported.

Yes he needed his wake up call. He’s a dumb guy in a lot of ways. I was dumb at 22, too. I think a majority of us were. Not an excuse for him. But just logic.

There is not a difference between rbs and QBs. They are football players! One is just more of an influence on the team than the other. Just my opinion. Shouldn’t be held to different standards.

He lied cuz he’s embarrassed. And he’s dumb. Not a rapist.

    Again, devil’s advocate.

  30. Lifey Says:

    Well said Tony!
My ladies in my office applaud you!

  31. Seminole Bill Says:

It pains me to say it, as I have been a backer of Jameis as he tries to bring the Bucs back to a winning franchise, but it is time to move on to another QB. Jameis’ defenses in this matter have folded like a cheap suitcase. First, we heard that Darby was his alibi; then we find out that Darby was not there for the entire Uber ride. Now we learn that the third passenger is himself in jail for sexual assault. The Bucs cannot rely on Jameis as a team leader any longer. The FSU incident should have told us something.

  32. Walter Seidel Says:

Joe…I’m “friendly” with my neighbor. But I don’t like him worth a crap.

  33. __TGH__ Says:

Here’s your equation Sage, solve for Y (pun intended).

(JW is accused of sexual misconduct) / ((JW didn’t report the potential violation after being notified by Uber) + (JW lied about his alibi)) * (X number of previously accused crimes of a sexual nature) = Y

No way to prove there was a fire without a camera, no matter how much the smell of smoke lingers. No proof = no detail… you’re going to be disappointed Ira, everyone loses in this case.

  34. AlteredEgo Says:

Folks…HELLO….once again if it was as simple as a crotch grab it would all be sorted out long ago…..IMO…the delay is about possible lying ….maybe more than once and to the Bucs and the NFL….just saying if his word can not be trusted then he is in a heap of trouble

  35. miken Says:

Am I missing something or has the league not even announced The punishment for Jameis?

  36. Roy T. Buford Says:

Again, guys blaming someone else for the predicament Jameis is in. Not from Ira, but from all over it’s “he’s just immature” or “Just a kid” or the NFL needs proof or she’s a gold digger or they owe Tampa Bay fans an explanation. Frustration? Yes. Negotiation perhaps? Yeah. But is “flirting” an invitation to “Please, grab my crotch” or is only “grab my crotch” the only time it’s allowed. Even Darby’s on record for the first time at FSU that the girl said “stop.”

So…why don’t we get the facts from Jameis? That’s right, he denies it all, yet stories of friend and foe and circumstantial facts like she reported next day, he did not, start to align.

I don’t like Goodell as much as the next guy, but he’s who the owners picked, who they extended no less, and the players went for a CBA that lets Goodell do all of this, the flipside is they know when drugtesting is coming. What a great freaking deal for fans.

Ira’s pen here is probably good medicine for many.

  37. Buccernutter Says:

Agreed he needs to grow up. Don’t forget the dude was 22 at the time.

Not sure if your account that he wasn’t invited was correct. Pretty sure he decided to stay home, unless you know more than any media outlet ever divulged.

Should never be a difference between a QB and RB. No double standard as far as punishment or public opinion.

I’m only playing devil’s advocate here. No need to take my words in any negative way. It is entirely possible he is both immature and still a little dumb. Oh and embarrassed.

  38. Jim Says:

A phony argument, Ira. We don’t know what the NFL will cite for the suspension, but they have multiple reasons and sexual assault is only one of them. You also have Winston’s failure to report the incident and the fact that he’s been lying for 8 months, to the NFL, the team, the owners, coaches, fans and the Tampa Bay community.

  39. BrianBucs Says:

Sorry Ira, but I am not expecting full transparency on this matter whatsoever.
What I AM expecting is so much spin that it makes us all dizzy and nautious

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Here is the math that really counts:

    4 minus 2 equals 2…

4 in the car…..then take away Darby & Banks….equal Jameis alone with the driver…..now that’s math that counts.

  41. GhostofSchiano Says:

To be clear, Joe brought up the hypothetical that they may have been talking, flirting, etc. –Joe

I am wondering if that was indeed the case. Did she flirt with Jameis? Did she send him the wrong signal or did he misinterpret the signal? He made a pass, she rebuffed it. Now wants to claim she was violated? Maybe that’s the case, maybe it is not.

Bring on the report. The length of the investigation and time they are taking to release the findings tells me they are not so sure themselves.

    Bring on the report.

  42. 813bucboi Says:

To be clear, Joe brought up the hypothetical that they may have been talking, flirting, etc. –Joe

why would you even make that assumption?…..

ok so what if, hypothetically, their were no flirting and talking and Winston just thought he was so fine(or trump) that all he had to do was put his hand on her crotch and she would give him some, because he’s jameis Winston……

my thing is, how many times has Winston been in this situation?……then, how many times has a victim accused an athlete of sexual assault and after the investigation, the victim is caught lying?…….

bottom line is, we all knew Winston wasn’t the cleanest spoon on the table but we rolled the dice and took him anyway……I understand innocent until proven guilty but don’t act like Winston has always been a squeaky clean guy…..some of yall acting like Winston is Andrew luck…..lol

some of yall acting like if Winston touched your daughter you would say no big deal…he touched your crotch get over it…..lol….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  43. Pickgrin Says:

    Roy T Says:
“Even Darby’s on record for the first time at FSU that the girl said “stop.”

Get your facts straight Roy. That was a part of the cleatchaser’s ever-changing version of what happened. Not “Darby on record” saying that.

  44. ATLBuc Says:

If Jameis was alone in the car with the Uber driver it’s her word against Jameis’ word. She also made a report to her compan. So, in reality, short of JW texting someone and saying “Hey! I just groped an Uber driver!” or, “Help me cover this up Ronald “, what evidence could they really have?

  45. jmarkbuc Says:

The problem is bigger than what he did this time. It’s the “this time” part, along with the last time part which begs the question , what happens next time.

No matter what he did or didn’t do, the situation rains down a whole load of crap on the team, the organization and the fan base.

What are his teammates supposed to do. When the inevitable question comes up, do they support Jameis because that’s what good teammates do?

Or if they feel like he’s dead wrong do they say so and start a locker room divide?

Jameis has managed to make another huge mess for everyone else to deal with.

  46. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If the reports are correct…..Jameis was drunk & unruly……she stated he was yelling homophobic comments out the window….
I don’t know about you….but if that’s true, that isn’t the kind of person most girls want to flirt with…..he may have been to exUBERant for her.

  47. ATLBuc Says:

    @bradibator
Even though it was not a date, there’s no evidence that they were not flirting or parked or what. There had to be some kind of friendliness or she would not have let him ride in the front seat.

  48. ATLBuc Says:

If she was so appalled that she reported it to her company, why not report it to the police? Sounds like she wanted to document something for a future rainmaker. Who’s her lawyer? She obviously reached out to him.

  49. Walter Seidel Says:

STOP IT!!! If it was “mutual flirting” Jameis would be (rightly) proclaiming his innocence…and he wouldn’t have Darby LIE about the ride, and he wouldn’t have been hanging with a CONVICTED RAPIST!!! DAMN!!! Some people absolutely refuse to believe what their eyes and minds tell them.

  50. jmarkbuc Says:

    @ATL

It’s the whole good Jameis vs. bad Jameis, kinda like his play on the field.

Good Jameis got Baptized a week earlier with his girlfriend

A week later Bad Jameis is getting hammered and feeling up an uber driver.

Considering his past, it stands to reason who the real Jameis is, and it ain’t good.

  51. GhostofSchiano Says:

Jolly Bucs Fan Says: According to her story she actually said “whats up with that” (sorry I was wrong earlier.)

Joes hypothetical about flirting plays into that.

This is the part that is confusing me. Most women that I know, if some guy grabbed their crotch and they didn’t like it or wanted it, the male would have gotten struck. Cussed out and struck. In other words some type of violent response would have occurred. I do not know any woman that would have responded with “Whats up with that”? At least an F-bomb or two would have been in that response.

As I am writing this I asked two female co-workers if they were Uber driving and a male rider was in the car and put his hand on their crotch what would be their response. One said hit him, the other said kick him. Both would have kicked him out of the car.

This is confusing. RELEASE THE REPORT

I don’t think that there is any way that the Glazers will commit to pay him 20 million in 2019 and more beyond because he can’t be trusted. There is no point in keeping him around as a lame duck QB this season either. What kind of leader could he be?

My bad as for his future, you know that I can’t wait until he leaves this garbage town. These fools deserve to live in the nfcs basement for the rest of their days. It can’t happen fast enough. Go start Fitz that’s what I say. Lmao.

OBP has a huge leadership void ever since Malcolm passed gbhs. His sons are a joke especially the little short one. They’ve lead this org from the top to bikini bottom and unless they sell I don’t see anything changing.

Look at all the “thugs” who have been here did god awful things yet are highly respected by their peers and the rest of the league and go on to WIN.

It’s Tampa bro nothing more nothing less. I mean who runs Joe Madden out of town? How stupid can you be?

  73. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think you are slanted at times….too much Jaboo-koolaid. If the whole story came out about Winston, he would have no family or friends. I do agree that the NFL will try to minimize the event as much as possible. The issue the NFL has if it looks obvious the media may come calling for clarity.

  77. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

WOW over 2 years ago Jameis was accused of being drunk and touching and supposedly touching a female Uber driver. He was supposedly so drunk 22 years old out with a friend he trust who invited his friend, who was only an acquaintance of JW.
JW gets put in a car with a FEMALE driver and these two men put a drunken Jameis in the front with a FEMALE.

And some here thinks the natural thing would be for JW, to be able to recollate what happenened in the car.
Being he was drunk, what impression was delivered to thw innocent Uber driver…when she finds out she has been delivered a gift wrapped package by his peers…a drunken Jameis Winston ching…ching…

  79. Roy T. Buford Says:

Most sexual assaults are NOT reported (to police), and many of those who do not fight during said crime are so scared they freeze. “Kate” could very well have been thankful enough it was over quickly and he moved his hand–and didn’t do more then because she didn’t want to antagonize what she called a big powerful man, which he is, so she may have just wanted to get the ride done and get him out of the car. Don’t forget, she reported it to her employer and Jameis did nothing. In high profile sex crime cases, many who speak out rightfully do end up being villified when they do. Were all those Bernstein victims that were silent gold diggers? Al Franken’s? Bill Cosby’s? I’m pretty sure the NFL knows if there were two cab rides if Uber is cooperating. That is, there would be an earlier ride from one of the three Uber accounts, plus the one for the time in question. Here is the bottom line: If Jameis is found to have actually been alone, it shows he lied about it all this time, even throwing both “Kate” and Banks under the bus to save his own skin. Is that his “no fear” meaning? That he will smash them with allibis and his own money and stature? Hope not. That doesn’t bode well for him. I think that is where the 3 games comes from. Maybe in return he makes a statement saying he lied, he’s sorry, and that he should not have put on such a charade. Maybe he has to admit to the NFL he was too drunk to know exactly what he did. Maybe they have video on him afterall and for the NFL image would rather not make it public. But something tells me they know enough that this started with six games and is down to a three game deal. If the NFL could not prove him riding alone with “kate,” I think it would be just one game for failing to report.

Lets also not forget that Winston was suspended from this FSU baseball team.

  81. donuts Says:

I will be glad when this is all over. The Winston lies and deception are not good for fans of this team.

  82. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Nole4JabooANDdBucs. Let me add to your narrative. Then, a day after Uber told him what was reported, he did nothing, reported nothing. And now, two years later, when sober (supposedly, most likely), Jameis denies ever being alone with her, says the driver is confused about number of people, and says he’s confident nothing inappropriate happened because he says his acqaintance was up front.

So was he drunk, doesn’t really know (remember) what happened? That is his BEST excuse–and does that get one off of paying the consequences for lying about it since (as that would be the case)? If he wasn’t drunk AND lied about it, that is no more. He can’t walk his story back now.

Let’s blame the Uber driver. Blame his friends for putting him in a cab by himself with a female. Let’s blame the club for not kicking him out earlier. Let’s blame the NFL for not sorting this out earlier. Let’s blame everyone but Jameis. That seems to be what he wants if such reports are true.

  83. Gambelero Says:

I’m with donuts. Tired of the whole thing.

It’s only June, but a couple days ago Lord took an early lead on getting my POY award for 2018 with a post on this topic.

  84. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Sooo he was 22 years old inebriated, on his time off, hanging with a friend (he needs to dump…like a bad habit) and this friend invites his friend who has been accused of sexual assault and the both of them decide JW is out of hand and wasted so let’s shove him in the car beside a female…wow.

Then ironically, the lawyer of DARBY’s friend throw gasoline all over Darby and Jameis’s story in an attempt to keep JW from blaming his guy (the mysterious 3rd guy).
Perfect storm and JW allowed himself to run right into it!

  85. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

I do blame Jameis, but not the way you do…because in MY lifetime I have seen some things.
If nothing else I hope Jameis has learned he better stop being naive and trusting. Because he will NEVER be given the benefit of doubt!

You have your opinion and I have mine!

  86. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

  87. AlteredEgo Says:

Roy T … “if” Jameis lied to the NFL once… and they have him boxed in…. how do they believe his next mea cupa version with %100 confidence…..this is a reclusive dilemma for “The Shield “ to bring to conclusion without plenty of shared pain , humiliation and embarrassment

  88. SB Says:

    The math is Simple.
He was in the car with the girl. Cell phone forensics
He was also in the car alone with the girl. Cell phone forensics.
    He lied
    Ronald Darby lied
    Cell phone forensics.
Deceitfulness is guilt in 99.9 % of cases.
This is what I think we will ultimately learn.

  89. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Nole…Jameis already DID blame the lawyer’s “guy” and who is going to believe the story of gang rap*st, right? Right!
Oh, the only problem is it matches up with the “Kate” story, the mysterious third passenger assertian Jamies stated, the destination of the ride, the fact they all got TO the club somehow, and I’d bet (but do not know), Uber records for earlier that night. Let me add also here, that lawyer is not going to be interested in covering for his “convict” client on a separate case unless he’s pretty sure the Banks account is accurate. The NFL did not go back to him, we are told, and maybe it’s because they may have gotten that one fact needed without any further discussion from him (at least for now). And boy has Darby been quiet…

  90. SB Says:

Hindsight being 20/15, I Totally get why we didn’t find out that Banks was the mysterious third person in the “first car”.

  91. destinjohnny Says:

  93. Capt.Tim Says:

WHEN WILL THE REINVENTING OF JAMEIS WINSTON END!!!!!
I am so tired of the excuses, the “hypothetical BS to try and make an idiot not look like an idiotic sex offender.

She filed an incident report immediately after her shift ended. The night it happened. Jameis hid the fact, then months later, got his friend Ronald Darby to LIE(again!). A lie that the NFL’s investigation has proven to be a lie.

She said that she pucked him up at a club. He was very drunk. His friends piled him in the front seat. She was driving him to his destination, and kept asking him to stop yelling anti-Homosexual comments out the window, as she drove.
He asked her to take him to a fast food drive in- where he continued yelling out the window.
When she got him to his destination- he reached over a grabbed her crotch. She asked him what he was doing. He let go- and got out

She filed a report with her supervisor that night.
She did not call the police. She did not hire a lawyer. She did not call a reporter
Her Supervisor reviewed the complaint, apparently made a few calls( the restaurant?), and suspended Jameis’ Uber account.
She did exactly what she is suposed to do.

Jameis knew he is supposed to report the incident to both league and team.
Hr didnt. And when confronted with it- he lied to team, League and fans. Also got his crony to lie to everyone.

After hearing her report- and how irratingly drunk he was, to even Imply that they were flirting- is being a Winston apologist to incredible lengths!!!
    Its Bullsh+y, and insulting
She was a cabby, who got assulted. I believe evety word she said

Is Jameis a bad kid. No
But he id a fu*king idiot.
It was a mistake to draft him, and it will be a mistake to keep him
Hes never gonna be mature enought to lead a tie.
    Time to cut bait

  94. SB Says:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Almost as bad as crack!

  95. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Nole…now, Jameis HAS been given the benefit of the doubt…certainly by me with ALL of his stupidity at FSU. And now this. Fool me once…shame on you…fool me twice. We know he messed up from a lot to a whole lot. But where? No wonder the NFL is taking so long.

IF he is did act as alleged, I’d bet it was the alcohol talking IF he was drunk. But there is a consequence for that for Jameis’s action. He could probably do a mea culpa on that and admit he lied and wronged her if he may have done that and especially for saying she was the one confused. He probably would be facing one game (for failure to report) if he would have done that back in November (if he was indeed alone and drunk and amnesic about it). Of course, an admission then would have him ripe for the civil suit, since the SOL didn’t run out until March. He would have faced heat coming back to his team after the dustup he caused with eating Ws and the Lattimore files. So his own failure in judgement in several ways snowballed and now we are all here…team, fans, his family, Kate, you name it.

  96. SB Says:

And NO DB I am not inferring that you smoke crack. I am just agreeing with you about what alcohol will make you do.
IMHO JW3’s ONLY way to make it through this and stay in Tampa is to come Completely clean and state that he was drunk that night and doesn’t remember anything that actually happened in the car. Admit that he was lying about the girl “being confused as to the number of people in the car”. Accept that he has a problem and be willing to go through counseling.
Nothing else will be accepted in the court of public Tampa opinion.

  97. FairMinded Says:

Exactly @SB it’s pretty clear he did once it was determined the “third guy” threw them under the bus and said they weren’t in the car.

I’m not on board with making him walk the plank. Team suspension in addition to league suspension might be enough to shake him up. I keep having to remind people this happened in March 2016 in his first offseason. Means something to me that he hasn’t had other allegations since he was a drunk 22 year old trying to hit on a girl that night. He’s too young and too talented to jettison without doing everything in the organization’s power to get him on the right path first

  98. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Nole…true, none of us were there.
    “Kate” was.

SB sums it up well though…

Plus whatever the NFL probably knows that we don’t. And everything point to JW3’s story as being way too thin.

  99. Dave Pear Says:

NOBODY here knows conclusively what occurred that night.
NOBODY. All speculation at this point.

    ALL speculation.

  101. Roy T. Buford Says:

@SB…good show. I think you nailed it. That gets us through this year.
Then there is how forgiving the Glazers will be…and the fan base. Two more key issues.
Even if Jameis does very well on the field, I doubt this will be swept under the rug as some have written. It’s not his first dance with this kind of thing–that’s the problem. Can the fan base tolerate him if he does well? Hard to say. I will still go to games, etc, but I won’t support him personally or trust him–if all said is true.

Okay, done with this until we know more.

  102. Trench War Says:

  103. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

All I hear is speculation and opinions no one here no the FACTS! I am leary of people who protest so much how they can not understand how he allowed himself to be put in this position, and how they would never slap a woman’s behind or grab them in the cat. And how they never drank too much or received mixed signals from a female. That is why the #METOO line exposes the pompous dudes, who protest so loudly and grab so quietly.

Perhaps he has learned since the 2+ years has passed! I was told experience is the best teacher. Being NAIVE and TRUSTING is his achiles heel!

  104. SB Says:

    Exactly Roy T. and Fairminded
There is no way we pull the plug on the JW experiment without Conclusive proof of guilt of the alleged groping. We will Never get this as there were no dash cams. However IMO he DEFINITELY lied and let Darby lie for him
When you lie though you lie to your Team, your Management and owners, And to the Fans.
We will Never find out if he did it. But he has to get ahead of the situation now and try to figure out how to save face for lying.

  105. Dave Pear Says:

    SB,

How is it that YOU know he LIED?
Show me the link to prove it.
He lied because you THINK he lied?

  106. Tampabaybucfan Says:

My wife is a pretty good barometer on these things…..she was ready to give Jameis somewhat of a pass on the evening….at least taking the 3 game suspension as punishment and give him another shot going forward.

Then, I informed her about the infamous 3rd passenger…..Brandon Banks and told her about his conviction…..she went ballistic. That changed everything for her….she is no longer willing to cut Jameis some slack….

I find it interesting that Darby was discussed as a person Jameis should avoid but no mention of Banks…perhaps it is because Jameis can’t hang with him for 15 years…..

  107. ATLBuc Says:

    Walter
First of all, who said Jameis told Darby to defend him. Also, just because two people were at the same party does not mean they were hanging out together

  108. SB Says:

Hey Dave……….We will find out soon. If there was a second Uber ride ( Which Banks says there was ) then he Lied plain and simple. Is Banks lying? Possibly. He is doing time for rape which doesn’t necessarily make his word good, however this nugget of the story makes more sense than anything we could all dream up. It allows for the original 3 person in the Uber story. It also explains the silence in between as they didn’t want to bring Banks into the story if they didn’t have to.

  109. SB Says:

Well Dave I just wrote a detailed response that got Moded out.
I am not going to try to recreate it.
Bottom line is I Don’t “know” that he lied.
Just that in light of Bank’s testimony the whole ordeal makes more sense right now. No Wonder we didn’t find out who the third person is due to Banks’ current living conditions.

  129. Stanglassman Says:

    @gregauman
Why would Winston be hanging out with a football player accused of rape? Scruggs said Brandon Banks has been friends with Ronald Darby since high school. Said he is only an acquaintance of Winston’s, was training in Arizona in March 2016.

You can LOL all you want but its pretty obvious by the tone of the articles the past week that JBF is in DEF mode of their “America QB god” hence your refusal to even slow it down a bit with the silly moniker. Mr. K is the only person on staff approaching this topic from a journalist standpoint. Mr. K is right we dont want a vague/BS NFL media report as this is too important to this team. I am not sure about that when it comes to one of the other two running JBF.

In baseball circles, Winston was an average college player. He played 2 years pitched 60 innings TOTAL on the top tier college team (loaded with MLB level talent) and you act like he is Ty Cobb (polarizing player with tons of talent). When you have less strike outs (52) than innings pitched as a reliever well lets say your average to be nice. When your drafted in the 15th round of the MLB draft that doesnt mean ESPN was was highlighting you for TV ratings. That is really an insult to all the other players on that team. Only in your world does that thought occur. I have many friends that were drafted higher than Winston in the MLB draft including one of the coaches of the Rays. Hmmm…which one??? I wont tell ever as I call him friend. I respect my sources like Mr. K. The funny thing is you really showed your a$$ when you stated ESPN only put the Seminoles on TV because of Winston. I will give you one more nugget…I know one of the players on that 2014 Seminole team and you should hear his Winston stories. You would think a lot differently if you knew how long this has been going on and how many other incidents he did get away with at FSU. Do you think these were one timers??? Think again.

“If JW wasn’t guilty he should be shouting it from the rooftops. Instead, he’s silent.”

Actually, it is commonly known in law enforcement that the most vocal are most likely guilty.

The fact that Jameis is silent shows his maturity. He knows if he says the wrong thing, Goodell with retaliate.

Best to keep quiet publicly. Make his case in private.

My guess is that he’s innocent, but the NFL does not want to look like they would possibly tolerate any such behavior. So they are suspending him without cause and are going to use the unreported policy to support the action, even though the policy was not in place at the time.

If that is the case, Winston has bargaining power. If they suspend him without cause, just because of unproven accusations, or because of a policy that wasn’t in place, he can raise a real stink in appeal…and maybe take it to court.

So I’m guessing Goodell wil knock it down to two games, especially since the third game is a prime time espn game.
