“Everything Is 50/50”

May 25th, 2018

Talks picks.

Again, it is May. It’s not even Memorial Day yet. And, more importantly, it is the beginning of underwear football season.

So read into it what you wish, but the Bucs defense harrassed the Bucs offense yesterday. In shorts and T-shirts. With no hitting.

After underwear football practice, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter mentioned there were so many picks of Bucs quarterbacks. No, Koetter didn’t offer the exact number.

“There was a bunch of them,” Koetter said. “Too many, but good for the defense. Good job for those guys.”

When pressed for further word on all the picks in the first week of underwear football, Koetter added, “Everything is 50/50.”

Being an offensive guy, it probably irked Koetter to see all the interceptions. But given how truly awful the Bucs pass defense was last year — you may have heard it was the worst in the NFL — Koetter should take the interceptions as a positive.

Perhaps a sign of baby steps towards having the 25th-best defense in the league this fall?

Would be an improvement but 25th wont get the playoffs unless the offense, special teams and head coaching decisions are great. I’m not counting on that. Hopefully close to the middle of the pack. Licht dumped a bunch of money and draft picks into this defense. Smitty wont be able to put it on the players this time.

im not reading into it at all….dirk’s 4vert scheme is predictable…..not much of a creative aspect to it….plus players like VHG, tandy, conte, ryan smith have seen this offense numerous of times…..

im not reading into anything until the real bullets start flying….we beat up the jags last year during TC….preseason we had some flashes….then the season began in MINN once we got punched in the mouth and never recovered….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!

  3. FartinMartin Says:

If I’m remembering correctly, Defense usually seems to be ahead of the offense this time of year as the offense requires ‘timing’ , etc …….

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

If the Bucs do not win at least 3 of their 1st five games? They are in big trouble…again. Digging themselves either out or into a hole. Defense has to deliver. And if DC Smitty does not deliver?..I’ll just take a paraphrase from and old speggetti western and say, Hang’em High!!!!

    Now I am confused

You wrote the other day that defenseman in underwear football can’t be physical so offense should be catching balls/making plays all day long. I think it was the Godwin article.

5 ints yesterday is what other website said. Hargreaves should have caught the 6th.

But again some are protected at all costs on this site.

  6. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yeah never really sure what to make of this lol.

Could be the secondary just knows Dirk’s sh1t too well now.
Could be Winston having some bad days.
Could be the secondary actually improving from terrible to adequate and the offense not being used to that.

Hoping for option 3. Then again this isn’t a real game or anything so not sure anything matters still

  7. Bird Says:

They may have the best receiving and tight end group combined in the NFL. Pretty sure any qb could walk out there and draw plays in the dirt with his finger without a coach and make plays all day.

almost 6 ints with no defensive line bull rush or defensive secondary touching.

But hey remember moenken is the game planner /offensive coordinator now so let’s start blaming him.

  8. Lord Cornelius Says:

so 2 of the 6 Interceptions by Winston. One was supposedly an amazing play by Justin Evans on Mike Evans per pewterreport.

I’ve read of days where Rodgers / others have had 3-4+ in a practice. Sh1t happens. Glad to hear the secondary and particularly the rookies + Justin Evans are already flashing

  9. firethecannons Says:

I’m thinking the 2018 breakout player of the defensive Bucs is going to be Justin Evans, kid seems to keep his eyes on the ball and not afraid to go for it.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Apparently rookie MJ Stewart made a very nice diving pick. That sounds nice using good athleticism even if it is underwear football. VH3 dropped one that hit him dead in his hands.

I read it was MJ Stewart that had the nice one on PR.
